Reliable image backups have protected our HMIs and simplified on‑premises recovery
We have not tried the vulnerability assessment feature yet because we have a different set of protocols for our cybersecurity. We conduct audits and plug the gaps as part of our security approach. We are not using AI with the anti-malware from Acronis; we are using it only for backup and recovery. On the backup and restoration side with Acronis Backup, some on-premises AI features which can detect anomalies may be something which would improve the product significantly. Otherwise, we are not very comfortable with cloud-based solutions at this time. We are looking for products which are entirely on-premises, so they remain within our control.

Easy to use and mange with reasonable pricing
The main feature is a specific file type. If we want some PDF files just to back up, the prefix is very easy, and we do everything in Veeam backup. It's straightforward to set up. It's stable. The solution is easy to use. You can centrally manage it. It's potentially free to use.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Every time I've used Acronis in the past - I've been doing this for 25 years - I haven't had any problems."
"One of the most valuable features of Acronis is its AnyData Engine which allows any device to connect to any other device for the purpose of data restoration."
"Acronis is a flexible solution. It can back up workstations, endpoints, and even your virtual environments and cloud-based environments. So, we can do the backup of the whole gamut of products."
"The licensing model is very good."
"It solved our problem with Linux servers by giving us an image based backup system that is easy to use."
"The solution was easy to install and to deploy."
"The image backup and image restore features have been very beneficial to us."
"The user interface (UI) is easy to use."
"The solution has a replication feature that allows us to do the VR, and it's very good, and the user interface is good and provides a lot of information."
"The most valuable features are the flexibility and stability of the product, and the technical support is also very good."
"It is a stable solution."
"I like working on the Azure platform."
"The solution is useful for taking backups for end-user laptops and end-user workstations where data is involved."
"When I compare Veeam with the storage manager from IBM or data protocol from HP or Exeter or some backups from Dell, Veeam is superior."
"The stability is good, the solution offers good performance, there are no bugs or glitches, it doesn't crash or freeze, and it's reliable and we haven't had any problems with it at all so far."
"It is easy to deploy."

Cons

"For smaller companies, it's a little more challenging to maintain."
"It would be better if they made it easier to obtain images for laptops and desktops."
"I wish Acronis had a feature that would allow me to set an expiry date for customers when I send them Acronis, such as when I create a customer workload or gigabyte."
"It would be nice if it could support more types of storage: EMC, HPE, Veeam, etc."
"If I could create a protected image backup on a computer partition that just would be just for the image backup; and only the program could access it to prevent viruses from getting into it. That would be very, very good."
"I would change the GUI a little to make it a bit more interactive. It should have a slightly more updated look, not something which looks like it was designed five years ago despite the fact it is easy to follow and very appealing."
"Version 12.5 only has a web interface which is absolutely unacceptable for this type of product."
"The cost of Acronis Cyber Protect is good, but as a general judgment here in Egypt, the economic situation is not good. If they can provide a waiver or discount for low-income countries, it would help to spread adoption."
"Updating and configuration can sometimes be a little bit of a hassel, but once you know the product better it is easy to use."
"Some customers that are in the industrial sector are using legacy systems, systems that are very old and running on Windows 2000 or Windows NT, Windows 2003, and they're physical, they're not even virtual. Veeam here is pretty weak, as Veeam supports 2008 or Service Pack 1 and above."
"The compression ratio and application ratio could still be improved in this solution. Reporting could also be improved, for better monitoring."
"There isn't really anything I would like to improve. Maybe the solution could be more secure."
"The solution's compression ratio and high speed for backing up can always improve. Aspects that need improvement are less time, better quality, higher security, and more compression. These are continuous requirements for any customer."
"It fulfills our needs in terms of features. In terms of improvements, they can maybe improve its documentation."
"I would like to have more flexibility in terms of reporting details about the backup."
"Updating sometimes gives us a problem by taking too long or causing other problems."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I think that the prices of the product go up every year. If one is extremely expensive and ten is absolutely cheap, I rate the product price as six."
"If the solution was less expensive it would be better."
"I would rate the solution’s pricing an eight out of ten. The tool’s subscription is yearly."
"The license is a perpetual license. The cost is an area for improvement."
"It is very cost-effective for the SMB segment, especially for start-ups and smaller environments. It is cost-effective for on-premises and on-cloud deployments in such environments."
"The pricing is significantly higher than it was last year, which is understandable since they have introduced new technology, such as transitioning from backup to cybersecurity."
"I would describe the product as a mid-priced tool for small and medium businesses."
"This is an affordable product and fits within our customers' budgets."
"Our licensing fees are on a yearly basis."
"We have a cloud provider agreement with Veeam. We are also paying for the agent."
"We are on an annual license to use Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows. There are not any additional fees to use the solution."
"The solution is free of cost for end users but for enterprise use, a license per user is required."
"The pricing is good."
"The licensing fees are billed on a yearly basis, and the fees are much lower than what I pay for NetBackup."
"Pricing is based on license packaging and duration. Longer term licenses are less per year and license packages also offer a discount."
"We have an annual license."
