Easy to use and mange with reasonable pricing
The main feature is a specific file type. If we want some PDF files just to back up, the prefix is very easy, and we do everything in Veeam backup. It's straightforward to set up. It's stable. The solution is easy to use. You can centrally manage it. It's potentially free to use.

Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Technical support is good. They're very responsive. It depends on the timezone responding, but I usually get a response within three hours of creating a ticket."
"It's powerful and user-friendly."
"The most valuable feature is application availability, which allows us to monitor all agents and accounts."
"Overall, we are pretty happy with this product."
"If you have windows machine at home and you'd like a backup, you can always download their free edition and plug in an external hard disk, and do a full backup of your laptop."
"Solution provides good security."
"Veeam is very useful for the Hyper-V environment."
"The most valuable feature is the ease of use."
"In Veeam backup, the most valuable feature for me is the recovery, as it allows me to recover almost immediately while I continue fixing the problem of the affected machine."
"Optimal calculations for storage systems for operation and backup on DCV, HCI stability and VM loading of the data center."
"The tool is a stable backup solution."
"First, I like that this solution is fast. Second, I like the stability and flexibility."
"Veeam ONE is the best and the most mature solution for hypervisors and physical machines."
"The documentation is very good and it's also easy to install Veeam Backup and Replication."
"The main feature for Veeam is that it's built primarily for virtualization, such as VMware or Hyper-V."
"It is a very good product; it does what it takes to backup virtual machines, it is easy to set up, and it is very quick."

Cons

"The problems that we were experiencing using this solution led us to switch to Commvault."
"I would like to see the capability for remote installation of third party applications added( Like installing WinRar MS Office etc..) , and Firewall for servers."
"Some users might think the interface could be improved."
"In the next release, I would like to see it easier to implement."
"Some customers that are in the industrial sector are using legacy systems, systems that are very old and running on Windows 2000 or Windows NT, Windows 2003, and they're physical, they're not even virtual. Veeam here is pretty weak, as Veeam supports 2008 or Service Pack 1 and above."
"I would like there to be more integration with other platforms."
"There really are no cons. The product simply has to maintain development to keep up with changes in the operating system."
"The backups can go slow."
"I think Veeam needs to improve the file installation process, as well as more technical things like snapping feature issues. Sometimes during backup, when it's taking the scan snaps on the ESXi, it started and didn't remove the snapshot from there, which consumed storage on the EXSi. It could be improved with more technical depth. The response time for Veeam's technical support could also be improved."
"They can improve the features and Veeam Enterprise Manager. The interface and features are kind of limited."
"For now we’re pretty happy, but we’d like the ability to schedule."
"Agent backups could be better. I have many problems with agent backups, particularly on Linux and MySQL databases. MySQL works well with Microsoft products but not with other products. The database backups are not working correctly, and we are losing business. I am not getting any support; administration is also a significant problem."
"The product must provide better security."
"I have used NetBackup. For heavy workloads or if I need consistent backup and restore, I prefer NetBackup over Veeam Backup Replication."
"The deduplication feature could be improved by changing to global deduplication."
"It's a great product, but only if you have everything virtualized."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We have an annual license."
"There are costs in addition to the standard licensing fees, and pricing can be a disadvantage or a weakness for this solution."
"The pricing model is based on CPU and must be declared as Microsoft or VMware licensing."
"The licensing fees are billed on a yearly basis, and the fees are much lower than what I pay for NetBackup."
"The cost for its licenses is reasonable and as per industry standards."
"We are on an annual license to use Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows. There are not any additional fees to use the solution."
"We purchased a three-year license, and I think that the prices are ok."
"The solution is inexpensive, more so than other products."
"We are happy with the pricing and we pay for licensing on a subscription basis."
"Our licensing fees are paid yearly and the cost is about $12,000 Swiss Francs ($17,400 USD)."
"Although our license includes support, we have only really used the support when we were using Veeam for Active Directory. The rest of the time, we find Veeam easy enough to use without paying extra support fees."
"The licensing is based on the number of cores you have in your ESX or Hyper-V environment."
"The product is inexpensive."
"It's a proper price, as it isn't an issue for what Veeam Backup & Replication is giving us. Obviously, we are paying licensing for our physical VMware environment. It also depends on how the VMware environment is on the side. We have a few very big nodes. So, we need a few licenses and maybe if people had more nodes and sockets and each node was managing less information, machine supplies could be different."
"Veeam Backup Replication has a lot of free features. We have a mixture of the paid versions as well as the community version. They are really helpful to us."
"The product is expensive."
