Easy to use and mange with reasonable pricing
The main feature is a specific file type. If we want some PDF files just to back up, the prefix is very easy, and we do everything in Veeam backup. It's straightforward to set up. It's stable. The solution is easy to use. You can centrally manage it. It's potentially free to use.

Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

"We found the initial setup to be quite simple."
"It is good and easy to use for backing up physical servers. It is working fine, and it is stable and scalable."
"A full-featured option for managing virtual machines with an instant recovery feature."
"I love Veeam because it is very easy to work with."
"Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows is a good investment; looking at the cost of using data and the cost of having the solution, it's quite good."
"The solution can work for companies no matter the size or scope."
"With the implementation of Veeam, our ROI increased from 30% (TSM) to 70% (Veeam), over the first three years."
"The solution's most valuable feature is that its reports are detailed compared to other tools."
"Pricing is fairly reasonable and not overly expensive."
"The reporting features are great for our business and managers, it takes a lot of the guesswork out, and the monthly reports come complete with graphs and summaries, which is really helpful."
"I think this solution does VM back ups very well."
"We were looking for a solution for a long time to replicate a very old database running on a VM, and finally, using this product, we are able to do it."
"Veeam drastically lowered the strain on our hosted environment during backup windows all while decreasing the amount of time the backups require for completion."

Cons

"Some customers have Oracle databases and Veeam does support back up of Oracle databases."
"I would like to see the capability for remote installation of third party applications added( Like installing WinRar MS Office etc..) , and Firewall for servers."
"The only things that I can think of where Veeam can improve are in very small details."
"I can't think of anything that may be missing."
"We need some sort of security for backups and archives."
"Updating and configuration can sometimes be a little bit of a hassel, but once you know the product better it is easy to use."
"The compression ratio and application ratio could still be improved in this solution. Reporting could also be improved, for better monitoring."
"With the currency exchange, the solution ends up being quite expensive."
"Improve compatibility with the database systems such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL, and increase the number of compatible disk systems for the snapshot functionality."
"I don't see much room for improvement except that the price could be better."
"We have had problems with some jobs. For example, when we have a VM with a large SQL Database, sometimes we cannot adjust the time for transaction logs to back up and overlap time."
"Unfortunately, when one of my servers crashed, I instructed a colleague to delete the backup job, and he did. He accidentally deleted backup replication, however, and we learned that there is no chance for recovery once the backup is deleted."
"They need to improve their technical side. They don't have a lot of compatibility with Solar HP-UX, IX, or SAP."
"I would like a solution for SAP systems to be included in the next release."
"I would like to see more drill-down and granular coverage of the compute stack and virtual infrastructure elements for Hyper-V."
"Dedupe capabilities."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Our licensing fees are on a yearly basis."
"The licensing fees are billed on a yearly basis, and the fees are much lower than what I pay for NetBackup."
"The solution is inexpensive, more so than other products."
"The solution is free of cost for end users but for enterprise use, a license per user is required."
"The pricing model is based on CPU and must be declared as Microsoft or VMware licensing."
"The pricing is good."
"We purchased a three-year license, and I think that the prices are ok."
"Pricing is based on license packaging and duration. Longer term licenses are less per year and license packages also offer a discount."
"I would rate the pricing six out of ten when compared to other competitors."
"Its software solution has a fee."
"The price is reasonable."
"Pricing is not the cheapest, but you get a lot of value for your money."
"Veeam has a ten-license package gives you two physical and two virtual servers you can use on any endpoint."
"It is reasonably very cheap. I would rate the licensing model a one out of ten, where one is very affordable and ten is extremely expensive."
"The product is expensive."
"Veeam Backup Replication can be quite expensive for Office 365 because its license is per user and not for the space that you use. You need one license for each user. If the user only uses a few files on one hard drive, you need a license to back up these files. It was better to have a license model, such as in the Cohesity solution. Cohesity has a license for a space that you use. It's more useful in this case because the license for backup data is on-premises is for CPU. The license is based on how many CPUs you have but it does not depend on how many users use the CPU."
