Reliable multi-platform backups have protected diverse servers and virtual libraries
Quest NetVault can improve in the area of Office 365 backups. Two years ago, I purchased the Office 365 plug-in or leased it for a year, and I have never been able to have a solid backup of Office 365 using Quest NetVault. I have resorted to a different solution specifically for Office 365 backups. It is not that it never works, but it fails so many times that it is not production-ready. On a weekly basis, I encounter problems and have to restart jobs or figure out what is wrong and then run it again. It simply needs to run as all the other Quest NetVault jobs do. If tomorrow there was a brand new Quest NetVault and I had the option to add something to make my life easier, besides improving the Office 365 backup, I would like to see that Quest Co Store products should be a part of Quest NetVault. They work and interact, but I have the impression it should be one solution.

Easy to use and mange with reasonable pricing
The main feature is a specific file type. If we want some PDF files just to back up, the prefix is very easy, and we do everything in Veeam backup. It's straightforward to set up. It's stable. The solution is easy to use. You can centrally manage it. It's potentially free to use.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The platform helps us with efficient QoreStor deduplication (DD) capabilities and configuration."
"The solution allows us to block off our network and only give access to whatever we want."
"The interface is very user-friendly."
"If a job is pending, the solution communicates it to us through emails."
"Having the web-based interface is important to us because we can access it from any computer in the network, rather than having it installed and available for use only on a specific one."
"It is working fine, and we are able to protect our customer's applications and data across their company with this single solution from Quest."
"The main reason I decided to use Quest NetVault was the support for many different platforms."
"The backup and recovery capabilities of NetVault Plus are very important for maintaining my business."
"The most valuable features are the flexibility and stability of the product, and the technical support is also very good."
"The user interface is good. It provides a lot of information."
"The most valuable feature is the ease of use."
"The product is free to use. We don't have to pay for a license."
"This is a reliable system that supports Veeam backup and recovery for Windows."
"Stability is not an issue, it has been working pretty nicely."
"The solution works really well; it offers all the features we need."
"This is a good product with a simple environment."

Cons

"In the next version, I would like to see support for the MongoDB database. As it is now, there is no component that works with it and we cannot back the data up using NetVault."
"The product’s SQL backup plugin needs improvement."
"There's no positive impact that NetVault Plus has brought to my company; I mean, there's no particular benefit I have seen from using it."
"The license expired without any warning and that caused us some problems."
"The storage capacity is very low."
"Improvements should come, particularly in compatibility, backup performance, or better troubleshooting."
"Veeam is the product that I can compare to NetVault Plus. I think Veeam Backup is better for VMware backup."
"There are command-line limitations. There is not a very strong possibility to work with the command line."
"A feature I would like to see is universal restore."
"Updating sometimes gives us a problem by taking too long or causing other problems."
"The predictability of the solution needs improvement. Sometimes, if it's doing something at the back end, it may go slow. Today, the backup completion took four hours, but sometimes it can do the backup in 30 minutes or an hour. With solutions like NetBackup, I can predict to a much higher degree of certainty how long something will take to complete."
"The only thing that's not as good with Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows is the compression ratio and the application ratio."
"The solution's compression ratio and high speed for backing up can always improve. Aspects that need improvement are less time, better quality, higher security, and more compression. These are continuous requirements for any customer."
"The backups can go slow."
"I would like to have a more automated installation process."
"Some customers that are in the industrial sector are using legacy systems, systems that are very old and running on Windows 2000 or Windows NT, Windows 2003, and they're physical, they're not even virtual. Veeam here is pretty weak, as Veeam supports 2008 or Service Pack 1 and above."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of our 12-month contract is approximately $1,500 AUD ($1,100 USD)."
"The tool is expensive."
"When we purchased four licenses, we were given a very good price. However, it is still on the high side when compared to some other vendors."
"We have a license package."
"We purchased a three-year license, and I think that the prices are ok."
"We have a cloud provider agreement with Veeam. We are also paying for the agent."
"Our licensing fees are on a yearly basis."
"The cost for its licenses is reasonable and as per industry standards."
"For the licensing of Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows, the customer can choose to pay monthly or yearly. It's up to the customer."
"We pay for a three-year subscription to use Veeam Agent."
"The solution is free of cost for end users but for enterprise use, a license per user is required."
