What is our primary use case?
In India, I worked as a customer support executive for Flipkart in the electronics department. Whenever an issue arose, such as a problem with the service, I was responsible for troubleshooting and resolving it. We used
Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling to handle our peak traffic demands efficiently.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable features of
Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling include its efficient alarm system that notifies us even when we are not at our desks. The snapshot feature is also incredible because it allows us to recover data easily. Auto Scaling is much easier to use than similar products from
Microsoft Azure or
Google Cloud Platform.
What needs improvement?
While Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling is continually updated and has improved over time, the dashboard has become more complex and tricky for new users. The interface was easier to navigate in earlier versions, like 2022. Minor improvements to enhance user-friendliness for beginners would be beneficial.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have worked with Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling for one year.
What was my experience with deployment of the solution?
There were no major issues during the deployment. The process was straightforward and took about five to ten minutes. I followed the steps to launch
EC2, choose an Amazon Machine Image (AMI), configure the security group, download the SSH key, and use PuTTY to connect to the server. Then, I installed the necessary software and deployed the applications. Daily use made us familiar and user-friendly with these steps.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I rated the stability of Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling as eight out of ten because there were some issues like lagging when pushing data, which might have been due to server problems or internet connectivity. Stability could be improved to ensure smoother operations.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I rate the scalability of Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling as ten out of ten. It offers the highest level of scalability, making it an excellent choice for users. The pricing is justified for the features it offers, and I find it easy to handle compared to other solutions.
How are customer service and support?
I rate Amazon's customer service and support as nine out of ten. They provided timely responses via email, and if there was a major issue, they got in touch promptly. The customer service for
AWS was always reliable with quick resolutions.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I worked a little with
Microsoft Azure, but it was very complicated compared to Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling. The time taken to perform tasks was longer with Azure, while Amazon's services were easy and quick to use. This comparison makes
EC2 Auto Scaling my preferred choice.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup was very straightforward and took about five to ten minutes. EC2 Auto Scaling was deployed with ease, thanks to helpful managers and senior staff, making it easier to resolve any issues quickly.
What about the implementation team?
I worked as a junior engineer, and my seniors handled our implementation projects. My manager was very experienced, having used
AWS services since 2007, which contributed to the smooth setup and deployment of Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The pricing of Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling is moderate. It's not too expensive because we only pay for what we use. While there are cheaper options, the services provided are worth the cost. Previously, AWS offered limited free storage, but now it provides significant discounts and storage for longer-term plans.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
My colleagues used Microsoft Azure, finding it less compatible and more time-consuming. Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling provided faster and more efficient services.
What other advice do I have?
Overall, I rate Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling as ten out of ten. The alarm system and notification features are extremely beneficial. The snapshot feature ensures data recovery, making it a reliable and easy-to-use solution compared to the competitors. The overall rating for Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling is ten out of ten.
