| Author info | Rating | Review Summary |
|---|---|---|
| Senior Software Engineer at a manufacturing company with 10,001+ employees | 4.0 | I'm using Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics for reporting and data management across on-premises and cloud environments. Its reporting and integration with third-party tools are valuable, but data collector issues persist during upgrades, requiring long resolution times with Veritas support. |
| Senior Consultant at a financial services firm with 10,001+ employees | 4.0 | We use Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics on physical infrastructure but are transitioning to Cohesity due to its instant mass recovery feature, which Veritas lacks. Although satisfied with Veritas, management's future direction leans toward Cohesity. |
| Storage Administrator at Amicorp | 4.0 | I used Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics for backup and reporting, finding its automated reports and deduplication engine valuable. However, it faces challenges with disaster recovery, cloud storage configuration, and declining technical support quality. I'm considering Commvault for cross-platform replication. |
| Project Manager at Szar Solutions Sdn. Bhd. | 4.0 | I use Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics for its simplicity in managing complex backups, which is a competitive advantage. However, recent changes in their licensing model and pricing are challenging, and AI integration for insights would be beneficial. |
| F.3 - Information Services Department at a government with 1,001-5,000 employees | 4.0 | I use Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics for backing up databases, virtual machines, file servers, and file shares. Valuable features include backup status overview, but I find the process complex and difficult to comprehend without the analytics, needing improvement for ease of use. |
| Backup and Storage Engineer at a tech consulting company with 201-500 employees | 4.0 | I use Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics mainly for reporting and visibility. It's stable and scalable but lacks strong documentation and support. Compared to Rubrik, Veritas excels in deduplication, while Rubrik offers better usability and integration. |
| PreSales Engineer at Licencias OnLine | 4.0 | I use Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics for monitoring my environment and preventing ransomware attacks. The product's most valuable feature is its straightforward console insights. However, it needs improved data personalization and the ability to export data to Tableau. |
Neutral
We are using Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics on physical infrastructure. We are not using it for any virtual or cloud infrastructure because we have our internal cloud, so we are not going on any public cloud.
We are fully satisfied with the product, but the direction is going towards Cohesity, which is why we are not having more investment in Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics.
The major benefit of switching is mass recovery. Cohesity gives us instant mass recovery for recovering a thousand machines. I can recover a thousand machines in one operation, but Veritas doesn't have that type of solution or feature.
The mass recovery of virtual machines is the feature I mentioned, which is the major highlight of Cohesity.
I would recommend that they implement instant mass recovery because in Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics, it takes a very long time. During the last issue that occurred due to the counter-strike, we needed recovery instantly for a large number of machines, more than a thousand machines, and Cohesity was the best solution for us. Management gained more confidence that in the future, we will go with Cohesity instead of Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics.
I would still recommend Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics to others. They should implement new features which other competitors are offering to customers.
I have been working with Veritas for more than seven to eight years.
I was involved in the installation and deployment of Veritas in my environment.
The process is straightforward and not complex.
It took one week for the whole environment from start to end.
There are two or three minor issues, but overall it is good regarding response time and overall competence.
I was able to seamlessly integrate with various data sources.
My experience with the technical support by Veritas is pretty good.
I would rate their technical support around seven to eight.
The customizable dashboards are good.
Positive
We are actually transitioning from Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics to Cohesity, and we are going to deploy Cohesity in our environment.
I needed one or two people.
Our management has already reviewed the other solutions which are being catered by Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics.
We are using Cohesity and DataProtect.
We are dealing with Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics. I am satisfied with it, but it all depends on the features. Currently, Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics doesn't have the features which Cohesity provides, which is why we are moving ahead, even though Cohesity is costlier.
We are not using the Predictive Analytics feature in Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics.
The interface of Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics rates seven to eight.
I would rate Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics eight out of ten as a tool.
We are a customer of Veritas.
I used the solution for backup and report purposes only.
I found it was good for backup and recovery approaches. I mainly used it for reporting, where it provided daily, weekly, and monthly automated reports, along with notifications. The deduplication engine compared to Azure backups is a cost-efficient feature regarding storage.
NetBackup is not great in disaster recovery (DR) and data center to DR setup, especially in the Cloud environment. Veritas Resiliency Platform is not very handy for cloud-to-cloud, cross-platform replication.
Additionally, configuring storage units on the cloud is challenging and requires technical awareness. The technical support quality has decreased over time, and there is a blame game between different sources.
I have been using it for more than 15 to 17 years.
The database is very strong, and I have never had a problem with stability.
Initially, it supported about 33 to 40 locations without issues. However, my recent experience with scalability on Azure is yet to be confirmed as I have not tested it.
Previously, their support was proficient, skilled, and available around the clock. However, recently, the quality has somewhat declined due to organizational changes. Previously I used Veritas Backup Reporter before it was rebranded as Veritas IT Analytics.
Negative
Initially, it was easy, but now, with the cloud-based instance, it is not very user-friendly and requires technical help.
Pricing is somewhat premium; however, it is better than Microsoft Azure regarding storage costs.
I am exploring Commvault for their solution on cross-platform replication.
For my overall experience, I would rate NetBackup seven or eight out of ten.
Negative
I use this solution for packing up databases, virtual machines, file servers, and file shares.
The valuable features include getting an overview of the backup status and gaining an understanding of my backup environment.
The process should be made easier. It is very complicated, and there is more with NetBackup; it is very difficult for me to oversee. Without the analytics in NetBackup, I find it very difficult to get an overview.
I have used the solution for 15 years or something like that.
The scalability is great. It is one of the best advantages that I find important.
I require Veritas support ocasionally. It is an aid, and it is good.
Neutral
The initial setup can be quite complex for me.
I have one lead consultant handling the setup.
I rate the product eight out of ten.
I am working directly with Rubrik nowadays. I am working mostly with Rubrik and Veritas. Currently, I am working with Rubrik and Veritas, and one year ago, I was working with Commvault. I am working with Veritas NetBackup and using Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics for reporting and monitoring. I have been working with Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics for about two or three months; it's new from NetBackup, a new solution from the backup side.
Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics is mostly used for reporting. I am working with Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics to send reports about what I configure for every day backup daily job, the failed jobs, and also for our utilization, and what will be in our next plan if we need to scale up.
It's helpful because I can have full visibility of my IT environment. You can customize your dashboard, or you can use templates with Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics; it comes with both.
We haven't done any integration between Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics and our other solutions, but from NetBackup itself, you can. I haven't gone deeply into the predictive analytics feature in the product because I don't have much time for this.
The documentation could be better; this should be improved.
For Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics, the deployment process is not too heavy, it feels similar to OpsCenter before, but it requires a new license.
Stability is actually very stable; I would rate it a nine out of ten.
Scalability is also a nine out of ten; the ability to scale is good.
I would rate technical support from Veritas as a seven out of ten. The issue is they will not help until you directly escalate; not all tickets are this way, but most of them.
I had a ticket with them for an upgrade failure; they made me wait in the queue for 24 hours while our production was down. I had eight engineers who couldn't get the job done after 24 hours, which was the main issue.
Positive
I compare Rubrik and Veritas; for Rubrik, it's easy to manage, easy to understand, and easy to work with. For deduplication and compression, Veritas is the best. For easy understanding and easy recovering, Rubrik is better; it also has easy integration without much configuration.
We have the appliance itself for Rubrik; I didn't buy it on AWS Marketplace. I can answer questions about Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics to share my opinion about their product. I am not too experienced in Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics yet; this question could be better answered after one month of additional experience.
For Rubrik, they have a good monitoring solution and a good IT solution for RSCB. Rubrik has good security and an air-gapped solution in their products; it comes with the appliance. Overall, except for what I mentioned about deduplication and compression, Rubrik is a good solution.
I rate this solution 8 out of 10.

I use the product to prevent ransomware attacks and know how my environment is working.
The product gives me insights into what's happening in my data, the infrastructure, and how my backups work. If there are problems in my network, the product enables me to check it on time.
The most valuable feature of the product is the insight it provides on the console. The tool is very straightforward.
The solution must enable the personalization of data. The solution should allow users to export data to Tableau.
I have been using the solution for six months.
I rate the tool’s stability a nine out of ten.
I rate the tool’s scalability a ten out of ten.
The initial setup was straightforward.
The product has a fair price. I rate the pricing a nine out of ten.
People planning to use the solution must pair it with all the infrastructure, not just the backups. Overall, I rate the product an eight out of ten.
