Areas of QAD Cloud ERP that could be improved include the ongoing enhancements they are making; it has grown significantly over my last 25 years, incorporating many different business needs, and they are continuously enhancing the entire product.
They could improve by moving away from the architecture of Progress 4GL as currently they are undergoing a very drastic change by redoing the entire application with Java and web-based technologies, projected to be released by 2026 with the incorporation of analytics, process intelligence, and AI to help business users.
I have been working on QAD Cloud ERP, which was the earlier non-cloud version, for 27 years, while QAD Cloud ERP, the cloud version, has been available for approximately the last 10 years.
Regarding stability, I find that it starts stable, taking around one year to become stable in any particular organization, while the implementation lifecycle can be as short as six weeks for smaller organizations, which get stabilized within six months and start seeing ROI by then.
As for downtime, while QAD Cloud ERP is not a truly cloud product per se as of now, there are necessary downtimes depending on the setup; managing those downtimes involves having different instances for different time zones.
I evaluate the scalability of QAD Cloud ERP as highly scalable because it can easily be implemented into any different type of business across various verticals such as food and beverages, medical, automobile, and packaging industries.
My experience with the initial setup and deployment process of QAD Cloud ERP is that it's very straightforward, with wonderful deployment tools that can complete deployments within one day.
The usual deployment process for QAD Cloud ERP involves pre-mandated setups available for additional packages on your PC and server, followed by running one command with their installable, while monitoring for error messages or warning messages.
Regarding stability, organizations typically become stable within one year, while smaller organizations can see ROI within six months with an implementation lifecycle as short as six weeks.
My impression of the modular architecture of QAD Cloud ERP is that it's a 4GL, Progress 4GL based database system, so it is a server-client technology as well as web-based, making it a really convenient way of making the data easily available to the users as well as for data entry.
The modular architecture of QAD Cloud ERP has a positive influence on managing costs and complexity from a cost perspective, as it can be easily deployed on Azure or AWS, providing easy connectivity, so it helps significantly.
I assess the role of QAD Cloud ERP's analytic capabilities as something I do not have experience with yet, as it's a recent product that is not yet open to the market completely.

It is the most stable solution that I've ever worked with. It is a simple tool. We use the standard software since we have a rule not to customize the products.
The product lacks a lot of features and technology. It is really limited. The tool must improve in almost all areas. There are a lot of things that should be improved in the manufacturing and shop floor, logistics and warehousing, and master data both from a functionality and technology standpoint.
The solution must have a better WMS to improve the logistics and workflow and handle the processes within the system. The collaboration must be improved. The product must be more flexible and allow customization. It must allow the users to personalize the application in a better way.
The tool lacks a lot in the purchasing area. The documents and process of purchasing are limited and simple. In the sales domain, there are no enhancements to calculate forecast and shipment programs. We cannot optimize transportation.
I have been using the solution for five years.
The solution is really stable. I rate the tool’s stability a nine out of ten.
I rate the tool’s scalability a one out of ten. It’s impossible to scale the tool. If we have to install a patch, we need to install a huge number of patches that they release weekly. There's no real product maintenance. Everything is added piece by piece to the standard version, which becomes a custom version. Around 60 people use the solution in our organization, including those working in the manufacturing, warehousing, shipment, purchasing, finance, and technical departments.
The organization’s support is not at the top. They are located in India and the USA. There are not many teams around the world, but the competency is acceptable.

Changing QAD would involve a significant investment.

We have been five years in the cloud and two years on-prem for our on-premise data center.
The stability of the solution is very good. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable and the performance is good.
The solution can scale effectively. If a company wants to expand, it can.

Customer service is very friendly and helpful. We're happy with the level of service we receive from them.
If we have any issues, we raise a ticket. As soon as we raise a ticket for any issue, they basically take care of any issue irrespective of geographic boundaries. They are very good.
We also use a few other built-in solutions on top of this product. If we need something specific, we just build our own thing.
We did not handle the initial setup. Therefore, I cannot speak to how easy or difficult it was. I was not a part of the process.
All the maintenance and everything is being done by QAD itself.

The pricing is reasonable. We do not find it too high. In comparison with other ERP solutions, it's very good.
My understanding is that we pay a yearly licensing fee and they take care of everything for us.
