Our primary use case for Egnyte Connect is file sharing for our client support team. We're a software company that works with commercial real estate and corporate companies, and we needed a cloud-based secure solution for them to upload their leases, as well as any lease documents and financials. 

We have received positive customer feedback about Egnyte Connect. Our customers find it very easy to use.

Egnyte Connect's low price is its most valuable feature for us. Our company does not house any servers in our infrastructure. Everything we do is cloud based, which is why we went out and looked for a service like Egnyte Connect. We found it a lot more user friendly than Dropbox, for example. We also felt that its security was a little bit stronger than what Dropbox offered.

It would be nice to see an integration of using an active directory to validate and authenticate users on our end as well as on the client user's end.

I have been using Egnyte Connect for four to five years. 

Egnyte Connect is extremely stable. 

As we continue to grow, I think that Egnyte Connect's scalability will be a non-issue for us. 

We currently have 10 users, including myself. Eight of those users are abstracters that collect, for example, a commercial lease to rent an office. Their job is to read that lease and enter data into our software. They are the ones that use Egnyte Connect on a day-to-day basis.

The solution does not require any maintenance. Egnyte Connect pushes software updates automatically, which means that there is nothing that needs to be done on our end.

We previously used Dropbox and found the user interface confusing on our end. We also felt that the pricing was a little high, which is why we abandoned Dropbox years ago.

The initial setup is simple. Our client support teams are located in Dallas and Houston and our CTO simply deploys it remotely to any new employee that comes on board that will be interfacing with a client. The new employee does not need to do anything on their end. Everything will already be prepopulated on their laptops.

Deployment takes minutes. All the new employee has to do is download it and create their login and password and they are off to the races.

I would say that we have seen a return on investment in that our customers are happy with how simple it is to upload content and feel safe that it is going into a secure environment.

We pay for Egnyte Connect on a monthly basis. On a scale from one to 10, one being worse and 10 being the best for licensing cost, I would give Egnyte Connect an eight.

There are no additional costs beside the standard licensing fee. 

From a small firm perspective, Egnyte Connect is simple, it is easy to get users up and running the same day, and I have nothing negative to say about the software. I can't speak to how Egnyte Connect would operate in a midsize company or even a large Fortune 500 company, but, from our perspective as a small business, it is fantastic.

For us, security was front and center. Usability was also important and took second place. Next, we asked "Is it simple and easy for anyone to quickly learn how to use it?" Egnyte Connect checked that box. Third place for us was price. We liked the fact that they charge on a monthly basis so there is not an annualized upfront fee that we pay.

We use this solution to upload our files according to our activities for the project. All the files we create are uploaded or saved on Egnyte Connect to protect and securitize them.

Egnyte Connect is a great application to save files. All files are secure and available. If we are connected, we can access our files on Egnyte Connect, and any authorized person can access and download the files.

With Egnyte Connect, you cannot delete a file when you have uploaded it in error, which needs improvement.

We have been using this solution for two years.

It is a stable solution.

The scalability is good, and we can add users to Egnyte Connect. I am primarily responsible for this solution at my organization, but we have an accountant and community mobilizer. To use Egnyte Connect, they need to have access to the solution.

We have not used technical support.

The setup was very easy. The time for deployment depends on the internet connection. When there is a good internet connection, uploading and saving the file doesn't take any time.

I rate this solution an eight out of ten. I would encourage others to use Egnyte Connect because it is a good application. However, they need to be careful not to upload something in error because it can't be deleted.

It's our main file share solution.

It's way better than the DFS file sharing we were using previously, which was on-premises and taking up storage space. It's probably around the same price as competitors, however, overall, I would say from what we've seen, it works a hell of a lot better.

The sharing ability is great.

The licensing has been very good overall. 

It's got a lot of bells and whistles. You can really do a lot of cool things with it in terms of being able to co-author and share documents with users that are not in your organization.

It's much more user-friendly than its competitors.

The solution is stable and offers good performance. 

It's a scalable product.

We have a pretty good relationship with Egnyte, where if we ask for something, we get it. We've been asking things from them for the past two years, and they've been building it for us. As of right now, I have everything that I and my team need.

I've been using the solution for a few years. 

The performance and stability are good. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. 

I remember there being two small downtime issues. That said, that's what happens when you're using cloud software. There was nothing that was prolonged. 

The scalability is fine. When we need to buy more space, we buy more space.

We have 2,000 users. Everyone in our company uses Egnyte. That's anywhere from the onsite facilities technicians to the CEO. Everyone uses it.

It will stay at the size it is right now, unless we buy more properties. We do not have plans to increase usage. The only thing that's going to grow is how much space we buy.

Technical support is great. Whenever we have a problem, it's generally resolved in a very small window. I'm very happy with how they operate.

I don't know the reasons the company chose this product. I wasn't the person that brought it in.

The setup was about a year-long project, and it was pretty straightforward. Their consultants or their implementation team handled most everything. We were just providing them with what they needed.

We have two or three people that are able to deploy and maintain the solution. 

Their service implementation team worked on it. We didn't hire any consultants. We used internal staff.

It's hard for me to say if there's an ROI.

We pay a yearly licensing fee.

We also sometimes pay for things through their customer service team. If we want something built or if we want something that's outside the box, or if we develop scripts for us, then we'll pay. However, we don't have to do that.

I'd rate it a three out of five in terms of affordability.

Other solutions were likely evaluated. However, I don't know what we looked at.

We have a business relationship with Egnyte.

We're using the latest version.

If you're looking for a solid cloud DFS solution, I would highly recommend Egnyte. They really have a terrific package, and they're always making it better. Their release schedules are pretty solid, and they're always coming out with new features. They're creating features that are valuable as opposed to not just having everything you could possibly have. They do a pretty good job of doing road mapping to ensure that what they're implementing will be useful to their clients. 

I'd rate the solution nine out of ten. 

The primary use case for our organization was using it with Adobe products and website development. People would use it to sync up big files. There were some issues, but it generally worked.

I wasn't using it very much on my own end. I would use it mostly to test to make sure other people could use it. I was an assistant administrator at my last organization, and I troubleshot with people to see why it wasn't working for them. So, I'd always have it on my computer just to see if I ran into any issues. I used it to access documents. We used Google Docs mostly through Egnyte. Our organization, especially in the IT area, was very focused on cloud apps. We didn't use a lot of onsite stuff.

I did appreciate that it was somewhat convenient to switch between connections. We had a test Egnyte instance, and it was pretty simple to switch over to that one, get access to documents there, and make sure those connections were still consistent.

It provides a way to granularly choose which folders from the internet you want to sync to your computer. It is really useful for people who are working on teams that are working with files that are frequently changing. You can go in and pretty clearly see what changes have been made. It gives you a constant feed.

I didn't find it to be as convenient as some of the other applications that I've used. I ran into some issues as I used it.

The issue of my authorization token expiring pretty quickly was pretty annoying. On pretty much every update, it would expire on every computer. On every computer update, at the first opportunity, it would expire. When my computer got updated or the authorization got cut, my saved drives would get messed up. So, I had to reconnect them all. I was never able to set up a useful drive system with my local computer with Egnyte Connect. It would be a big improvement if there was a cached system so that when it loses connection, it can still save what kind of connections were set up, and when it reconnects, it repopulates all those. I don't know if that's even possible, but that's the feature I'd want.

I no longer use it now, but I have used it for about two years.

It was good. I never ran into any issues with the connection. Our teams that were working with big files saw issues, but you'd see issues with any tool that did this. It is impossible to make one that is 100% good.

There were no issues with scalability. We probably had 200 to 300 people.

We didn't reach out to their support for Egnyte Connect a lot. Egnyte Connect didn't have as many issues as the other things we had. Generally, we had lots of talks with them, but they were occasionally related to Egnyte Connect. Sometimes, there were some errors or issues that people were having with Egnyte Connect that we had to bring to their attention. I would rate them a five out of five.

It has been a long time since I did the initial setup, but I don't remember it being complex.

As far as I understand, licenses are associated with the Egnyte platform. There aren't any licenses associated with Egnyte Connect.

Egnyte Connect isn't the product we went with. The product we went with was Egnyte, and the only tool they had to sync was Egnyte Connect. So, it was not something we chose, and Egnyte Connect was not really a part of the decision. We wanted to make sure that there is a syncing tool, but the reason why we chose Egnyte was its security insight into data. Egnyte Connect was the decision that came along with that. We did not choose Egnyte because of Egnyte Connect.

I would definitely recommend it to people for whom there would be a use for it.  The big thing I would recommend is to be very careful with what folders you choose to sync. If you choose to sync a folder that's a few terabytes, it is going to cause issues with your system.

For my use case specifically, I would rate it a 7 out of 10. I wasn't using it often enough for it to be really useful for my business. I was probably using it a couple of times a month, and in that timeframe, it did not provide me with what I wanted, which would be a consistent drive for me to access. I had to always remap it myself, and I never ended up using it for how it is really useful. If you're using it daily, the score would go up because there are a lot more use cases for you, but for my purposes, there are other tools that would have worked better.

Egnyte is a user-friendly when it comes to collaborating with your colleagues and especially with external users. It is a more secure platform when you are sharing files or folders to certain people or a certain group. It's basically used for collaboration purposes. 

The best feature is the co-authoring. Before, in Egnyte desktop sync, it didn't have the capability to co-author. Now, since you have Egnyte Connect on your machine, it gives you the capability to co-author on a single file at the same time.

Now that the Egnyte vendor upgraded the version and they introduced the Egnyte Connect, there are a lot of features that they added, including co-authoring. You can also access those files and folders using your mobile device, which is good. Some of our advisors don't have a desktop or laptop, so they are just accessing their files via mobile devices or tablets. 

Before, in Egnyte desktop sync, you could install it on a certain server. Now, with Egnyte Connect, you can install the application on a particular server, and then you can save your file from there.

The initial setup is easy.

It's easy to move files around, even to, for example, SharePoint. 

The search functionality has been good.

The user interface is great.

Support is great. 

In Egnyte Connect, you can add more domains if you want to access files and folders.

Before, when we were starting to use Egnyte, we were struggling with a lot of bugs with Egnyte desktop sync. 

However, with the latest iteration, we've been very happy with its capabilities. 

I've used the solution for about four years. 

The stability is good. If you are traveling and you don't have an internet connection, or if you choose your files and folders that will be syncing to your machine, you can do everything while traveling. Then, once your laptop is connected to the internet, whatever changes that you've made, it'll sync, go into the cloud, and your colleagues will see the changes that you've made, which is good.

With the new Egnyte Connect, it is way more stable when you are saving files from Tableau and Alteryx.

We have about 20,000 users in the company using the solution. 

I've dealt with support services in the past. 

Every week or every other two weeks, I do have a meeting with the Egnyte vendor. We check in on any trouble that we are encountering. They've been helpful. They are responsive as well. 

For example, if I am looking for a certain link that is not available on my end, when I create a ticket, I will receive feedback or an answer within an hour. In comparison, with Microsoft, if I open a ticket, I'll wait a week for some sort of response.

Right now, we are migrating most of our files and folders from Egnyte to SharePoint online and OneDrive. Upper management decided to move to another sharing platform. That's why we are now moving.

The initial setup is straightforward. It's not overly complex. 

If you are installing it manually, you ned to give it at least five minutes maximum to install. If you are using SCCM, it will be easier as you can run that per batch.

I don't deal with pricing, That's more a job for upper management. However, whatever the price, it has been worth the investment.

With Egnyte, our external users can only access Egnyte via the web. However, they cannot install the installer to their machines because Egnyte was pushed via SCCM to our servers.

I'd advise potential new users to get training to fully understand the solution and what it can do.

I'd rate the solution a ten out of ten.

We use this solution for storage purposes.

It centralizes the documentation in one area.

If this solution had a better ability to search, that would be helpful. In addition, if there was an ability to collaborate, that would also be a benefit. At present, the vision control is had because if someone gets out of it, it locks. And, whoever saves last overrides everyone's work. 

It is a stable product.

It is a scalable solution.

I do not have experience with the pricing of this solution.
