It helps us speed up the development process. It's highly complex in setting up correctly.
The most valuable feature of Codar is the ability to provide us with faster application releases It's helped us with moving away from doing everything manually and from a siloed way of thinking. Previously, it would take four months to make a small change in our application. Codar helps us speed…

Have faced limitations due to high costs but have maintained reliability over time
The primary issue is the pricing, which is very expensive for my company's budget. We cannot afford to pay such a large fee. We are not Microsoft or BMW; we are a small company. As a small company, I have no power to negotiate directly with VMware. Perhaps larger companies have more opportunity to contract directly with VMware, but I do not have that leverage. The only path I can follow is to change solutions. Net.spA is a company working in the field of waste management. We are not a technological company, so we do not have a large margin to justify purchasing and maintaining the VMware infrastructure at current costs.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature of Codar is the ability to provide us with faster application releases."
"We're more proactive than reactive, so that's important to our customers."
"It is definitely a really reliable solution that completely integrates with VMware."
"Now, with vROps, we can see all the dependencies that are part of that server, avoid outages by identifying clusters that are running out of resources before they do, and in real time provide management with reports that visually justify why we are asking for more resources."
"Because of the recommendations in the product for configuration changes, bad legacy setups become visible using the tool, which is great."
"When we have problems with applications, we are fast with troubleshooting because we use vROps."
"It is a stable solution; vROps has helped decrease downtime by 80 percent because it gives me a lot of visibility into my environment, and with its performance optimization, we have been able to see things happening ahead of time."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to get a view into all of my clusters from each one of my data centers at the same time."
"This is the whole package, it has everything that you need."

Cons

"Codar works well enough, but it's highly complex in setting up correctly."
"ServiceNow implementation is rough."
"vROps is, by its nature, a very complex product."
"I would like to see them get a holistic view of the organization, not just focusing on the server and the state that it's running on but to widen that out from the end user all the way through. It's a key critical part but actually, it needs to bring outside of that, then to the networking elements and the inter-dependencies that are in hospital solutions."
"The UI needs to be made more user-friendly."
"One of the shortfalls with the algorithms of vRealize Operations is that if you want to add additional capacity and you're moving from one, just as an example, Intel generation to another generation, generally speaking, vROps only does it by megahertz, and not the new spec end values, as other tools can."
"The automation piece could be done simpler."
"I think I made a mistake in choosing VMware."
"It needs dashboards that we can present at the executive level. The GUI, overall, could be better."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Get the right licensing and increase your licensing as you upgrade and grow. If you get the wrong licensing, it will be expensive, especially if you plan improperly."
"Our manpower costs have been reduced due to the automation in conjunction with the usage of the dashboard."
"The solution requires an annual license which is very expensive."
"Five or six years ago, when we took it, it was a very good option. Now, I think I have to reevaluate, to be honest."
"If one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the product price an eight out of ten."
"The optimization is a huge return on investment alone."
"It was cost effective, because it fixed our problems."
"We have seen ROI in performance. It used to be our company was giving out eight CPUs to all servers. That was bad performance-wise. People were seeing slow compute times for their applications."
