Offers version control capabilities, easy to set up but highly-priced
The main thing is the cost. Most of the time, organizations move away from Documentum due to cost. It's highly-priced, and the support costs are high. Now, SharePoint and other options. Microsoft gives free licenses, so organizations mainly look for cost-effective products. The second thing is updates and patching. We patch very often, every six months or a year. We have SP1, SP2, and SP3, and then suddenly, it's moved out of support. That's the organization's main pain area. They don't want to keep investing from a storage perspective. The licensing model should be changed. The product itself is out of support. They have not considered it for AI initiatives. The new version should be on the cloud. I'm not sure if the new version of Documentum, xECM, is cloud compatible or on which cloud it is compatible, but the OpenText server itself is on a cloud, which would be beneficial to the business. And it would also be easier for migration.

"This solution has good connection and we do not need to migrate everything in order to protect the repository."
"We concentrate on the legal industry, such as legal libraries. It's the most structured solution we have used and implemented for five years."

"OpenText 360 for SharePoint integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Teams, allowing me to monitor and manage projects and task issues using mobile devices."
"In terms of its most valuable features, this solution, in general, will provide all you need and it's very convenient to use. We can share our details to collaborative platforms. We can give access to users. It's pretty flexible."

Cons

"If I have to really create an internal knowledge management portal, if I have to compare SharePoint and WordPress, WordPress is far, far better in regard to the SharePoint option."
"OpenText 360 is generally stable, though there are sometimes issues with document size or format."
"In the future, I would like to see new features in SharePoint for improved project tracking processes."
"Sometimes there are unexpected service outages. Though these situations are rare, I want to highlight that in case of any outage in the services, because everything is located in SharePoint, there is a chance that reports start failing or dashboards fail, or the system behaves differently."
"I would like for there to be even more integrations in the next release and I believe that the price could go down a bit."
"The GUI should be improved for better user experience. Additionally, while there are standard connectors for automation and approvals in Power Platform, some tasks still need to be handled with API request calls instead of direct connectors, which could be improved."
"The graphical user interface had to be more user-friendly. It's not as intuitive."
"They are not going for any add-ons right now. It's the same version we are still using and there is no plan of upgrading and/or creating any add-ons at all."
"The vertical application could be improved."
"The documentation often leaves customers feeling somewhat frustrated, as OpenText seems to expect customers to remind them constantly about the need for better documentation, as they don't provide clear guidance on their documentation practices."
"We mostly use the Life Sciences package. That package is somewhat dated. There should be enhancements to the Life Science package and additional offerings to support pharma in particular."
"It should provide more tools to help clients upgrade solutions based on Webtop."
"It can be somewhat cumbersome for the operations team since it’s not a cloud instance"
"The user interface can be a bit more intuitive."
