Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable features of New Relic are the reports and ease of use.""We like the performance of the product.""New Relic has helped us in terms of the optimizing our print and loading times.""Sometimes, I monitor the user's time of response and use this information to improve the number of servers on the back-end. Or, I can use it to change my back log for front-end developers and improve their response times. It's very important in this case because I can improve the experience of the final user.""The most valuable feature of New Relic is its ease of use.""The product's initial setup phase was very easy.""It is easier to create new dashboards in the New Relic interface, and it is also easier to query if when I want to monitor a different parameter or time duration on my dashboard.""The most valuable features are infrastructure monitoring and application performance monitoring (APM)."

"Service Bus topic subscription monitoring turned out to be the most useful for us.""It offers all the core capabilities we need to manage and monitor our Azure services."

Cons
"One thing that we noticed was that historical information was only for a limited period, which was not helpful in certain scenarios. For example, if I want to size my system for an event for New Year or Christmas season based on the historical data, I won't be able to find the historical data. Currently, the data is limited to three months. It would be helpful if they can provide historical data for a longer duration so that we can plan our system accordingly.""They could improve the education process and how people understand that these tools are very technical. Right now, if someone was to pick it up from day one, it is a very steep learning curve.""Some AIOps are missing in New Relic APS, and I would like to see more features in this area.""I would like to be able to invest less time in IT and ad hocs. We should be concentrating on other issues.""The UX/UI design of New Relic APM could be improved. The solution currently has some slow pages in terms of loading and viewing the pages, for example, the reports. The reports and other pages take a long time to load.""It gives you amazing statistics, but doesn’t give you enough information about what to do with the statistics.""It would be nice if there were pre-made dashboards.""New Relic APM can improve the information when we dig deeper to check a problem. There should be more detailed information provided."

"Addition of more monitoring features to Azure Cosmos DB can be a huge help as we use the same as the main database for our applications.""The user interface of Serveress360 could be improved a bit to make the platform even easier to use."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "New Relic is either free with low retention and minimal functionalities, or expensive with full options and retention."
  • "The monthly cost os $1000 per server per month, but it could be even more. We pay about $250 for the server, and then New Relic wants over $1000 to give us statistics on those servers."
  • "Cost is significant with a lot of extras."
  • "It would be nice if we could buy it annually instead of monthly."
  • "If it’s the right tool, it doesn’t matter what it costs because you’re going to get it back many-fold from your productivity."
  • "I recommend using the free version of New Relic. If you like the free version and understand its importance for your company, you can move to the trial. Then, you can migrate to the paid version."
  • "There is a picture which goes to your browser and it monitors requests from other users. However, it's impossible to use now because the price is very high. The feature is very nice, but I tried it during the trial period, and the current price makes it impossible to use."
  • "They gave us aggressive discounts when they were brought in for the first time, but they have also kept them for the year-on-year renewals, which has been absolutely fine."
