Consistent high ratings reflect user satisfaction and reliability
The effective features are file system backup and bare metal recovery. I find it effective because the recovery time when the system goes down is approximately 10 hours, so you can recover the system, and the recovery procedure is quite straightforward. The solution is on-premises. Deduplication is handled by their own product called Corestore, which is a software-based deduplication engine. The deduplication ratio is quite good, and the backup window reduces because of it. To use Quest NetVault Plus backup, my advice is that the product is quite simple; there's no need to access or log in to the backup server, just log in from any system in the same network, and the configuration part is also quite simple. I rate Quest NetVault Plus a nine out of ten.

A comprehensive and well-built solution for disaster recovery and backup
We use SEP sesam for disaster recovery and backup.  We need a solution to handle on-premise and cloud backup, particularly the Microsoft 0ffice365 server.  SEP sesam needs to work on stability.  I have been using the solution for a year.  We have not encountered any downtime while using the…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It has File and SQL backup, which is the main benefit for us."
"We are able to protect all of our applications and data across the company using only NetVault."
"We have contacted technical support and they've been very good."
"Having the web-based interface is important to us because we can access it from any computer in the network, rather than having it installed and available for use only on a specific one."
"If a job is pending, the solution communicates it to us through emails."
"The solution allows us to block off our network and only give access to whatever we want."
"It is working fine, and we are able to protect our customer's applications and data across their company with this single solution from Quest."
"The backup and recovery capabilities of NetVault Plus are very important for maintaining my business."
"We need a solution to handle on-premise and cloud backup, particularly the Microsoft 0ffice365 server."

Cons

"The storage capacity is very low."
"There are command-line limitations. There is not a very strong possibility to work with the command line. The commands that are there are not that powerful, and you need to be very good at scripting, for example, in PowerShell or in Bash in case it is running on Linux systems. You need to combine a lot of commands together, and still, you will not get a great output that is presentable to others. You cannot work with it as easily."
"There are certain issues with the product that we report to Quest, and we get offered a workaround instead of a fix."
"NetVault does not have the feature set that Commvault has."
"The stability of the solution is poor."
"There's no positive impact that NetVault Plus has brought to my company; I mean, there's no particular benefit I have seen from using it."
"The stability of the solution is poor."
"In the next version, I would like to see support for the MongoDB database. As it is now, there is no component that works with it and we cannot back the data up using NetVault."
"SEP sesam needs to work on stability."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The tool is expensive."
"When we purchased four licenses, we were given a very good price. However, it is still on the high side when compared to some other vendors."
"The price of our 12-month contract is approximately $1,500 AUD ($1,100 USD)."
"SEP sesam offers a perpetual licensing option, which means you don't have to renew your license at a new price every time. I rate the solution's pricing a six and a half out of ten."
