We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
"If anyone is familiar with Microsoft products then they can handle it easily.""It was an okay solution when we delivered hardware and we had to do maintenance.""Dynamics AX provides a lot of functionality.""The relation between CRM and Sales, that's the main strength of this ERP.""The most valuable feature I've found is the UI functionality.""A valuable feature of Microsoft Dynamics AX is that it is stable.""There's a moderate amount of scalability available.""The stability is very good."

"The customer support is good. The first level of support agent in every case was able to solve the problem very quickly.""Microsoft products are very good in general. This product is flexible, easy to use, intuitive, and has good capabilities.""All of the features are valuable, depending on where you implement them. I've done implementations in 60 countries, across 86 different companies and groups, and each company has a different reason for why they want to use it. Every single feature that I've implemented has been successful, and for some companies, where they didn't use the functionality, they have moved to external products or they've integrated into other applications.""The solution is easy to use, flexible, and customizable.""I have found the flexibility to be very valuable. It's highly flexible, and at least for us, it has been effective. It is also highly functional.""Our data is much more manageable than before.""The initial setup is pretty straightforward.""NAV covers everything from purchasing and selling items to invoicing. Everything is within NAV, so it's all very neat."

"The integration could improve for the future.""If I had to add something in the next release, it would probably be a mobile application for a sister application of Dynamics 365; not the ERP but the Dynamics 365 HR solution. It would definitely help if we could have Microsoft or a Microsoft partner introduce a mobile application for it.""There are so many errors.""There should be the capability for users to enhance the application by using a low-code or no-code product from the Microsoft family.""There is also slowness in database backup.""The product is standardised across industries so it is not a good fit for all types of sectors.""They should include some modules related to solving customer problems or resolving support tickets from our customers — like a help desk for ERPs.""Microsoft Dynamics AX could be improved by having more features available. We are going to 365 now, to use all the modules, because we found that there weren't many new things we were able to develop with AX. There were a lot of things that weren't available, so we are moving and integrating other things. The customization of upgrades should also be faster. We would also like to see more security features."

"If Microsoft made some of the security setups a little easier to work with, that would be a significant improvement. The warehouse management features could also use some work. We had to buy third-party software to make NAV's warehouse management and security more usable and functional.""There is a lot of improvement needed in the top model, such as better integration with logistics, quality management, and data modeling for all revenue types.""We need to customize more often than we would like.""It would be nice if the integration process was easier.""The solution is not best suited for larger-scale businesses.""Microsoft Dynamics NAV could be improved in terms of exporting income statements and balance sheets. Currently, there is a feature, but you can only have the last three years. I spent some time trying to improve the KPI portion that exports the data, that already calculates the sub forms or subtotals, but they weren't able to break that up into different dimensions. They've now managed to crowd the separate table and you can export that, but it's only for the last three years. So, they could improve this solution by getting the chart of accounts or the account schedules to be exported, where you can go further than just three years with it.""I am hoping there is more integration with other platforms, more features, and customization in the next release.""Customization and costs could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The pricing is expensive."
  • "It's too expensive for customers to take this on themselves. As partners, we will buy this on behalf of the customers and then charge this value for each project."
  • "It is $180 to $200 per user per month with a minimum of 20 users, which makes selling the product a bit difficult."
  • "I don't know how much this solution costs off the top of my head, but I know that the cloud and SaaS solutions are cheaper."
  • "It has a pay-as-you-go subscription."
  • "The initial investment cost goes up due to the hidden cost."
  • "We pay for licensing yearly to use Microsoft Dynamics AX."

  • "The first time we tried to buy the newest version, it was expensive."
  • "I have some subscription-based customer and a few customers who have perpetual licenses that hosted the application on the cloud."
  • "The price of the solution is reasonable."
  • "The price of the solution is reasonable."
  • "I think the pricing is the best; it's cost effective for sure."
  • "Microsoft Dynamics NAV has a pay-as-you-use payment model."
  • "NAV might be a little pricey for a small or medium-sized company, but all the solutions out there are."
  • "The cost is one of the benefits. If you don't want to go for the full-blown finance and operations, the pricing model is a lot cheaper and has now switched to being based on a per-user subscription. So, if it's on cloud, you now have an expense instead of a large CapEx. If it's on-prem, you obviously still have to continue with the licensing model that they have, but if you compare the features and functionality, in terms of the price that you pay, I find it's better than other products. My answer on the pricing would be slightly different, depending on the country you're in and the return on investment, based on the size of the company. It's well-priced internationally. I think the new model is priced even better because it's now subscription-based and, if you go for cloud, the return on investment is a lot quicker and if it's expense, you can cap it. If you do take the on-prem version, the licensing is still priced as what it used to be, so that would depend on what country you are in."
