We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"All the modules are valuable in their own right, but everything has to go through the ERP. IFS has done an excellent job integrating the various modules to complete these processes. My expertise is in the finance module, but I have used the other verticals. It's an all-around good product.""Having a young talented programmer, during the six years of use, we were able to save around 75 000 EUR preparing simple modifications using customization rather than ordering them in IFS / Partner.""IFS has been completely rebuilt, modernized, and cloud-based so we don't need bulky software installations.""A high level of ERP can be handled in IFS.""The financial posting controls are quite handy. The user interface is really friendly, highly flexible, and pretty intuitive for end users.""There tends not to be a massive weakness in the product itself, as weaknesses can quickly be resolved in the next patch or the next release.""IFS Applications is an all-in-one solution for finance, accounting, and production.""The most valuable feature is the distribution module."

"Has good integration with Power BI.""The security feature, particularly the encryption, which still builds sensitivity, is one of the most valuable features.""I like Microsoft Dynamics' simplicity. The interface is excellent, and it's a highly mature product. You can hardly find any bugs in the product.""The tool covers most of the business requirements that most companies have, especially financial institutions.""The most valuable feature of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is cloud accessibility.""The most valuable feature of Microsoft Dynamics NAV is its simplicity of accounting and receiving reports. The solution is similar to Microsoft Excel, and that similarity is good. All the functions of Microsoft Dynamics are user-friendly.""It is a stable solution.""The most valuable features of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central are the dashboards, ease of use, and flexibility."

Cons
"I'm a business analyst, so I do a lot of customer-facing work. I take calls from businesses I have to troubleshoot. One thing that bugs me is the error messages you get from IFS. If I get an error message, I have to dig to find the cause because, often, the error message doesn't precisely describe the problem. It'll hint about where the problem lies, but you have to work to find the root cause. It doesn't help in my situation. You expect an error message to point to the field or what is causing the issue.""IFS Applications can improve the reporting capabilities and increase the speed of feedback time in the IFS Applications. This would help with the overall performance of the solution and provide better experiences for customers.""The solution's initial setup process was complex...The technical support my company receives from the implementation partners of the solution is not that great.""There were initial difficulties when I started using the application.""Sometimes from the sales perspective, clients don't always fully understand how large a task or a project they're getting involved in when they decide, "We're going to switch across to IFS." They could probably do a little bit more, maybe around preparing people for these projects.""Aspects of HR and payroll could be better.""I have seen that one of the areas that my company has identified for improvement might be the rental management capabilities within the solution.""An area for improvement would be transactions, which can be tedious to complete as the process is very complex."

More IFS Cloud Platform Cons →

"The solution can improve by having better integration with Microsoft PowerBI and reporting.""The stability could always be improved.""I would like to improve the tool’s reporting and coding part.""As our company grew we had to switch from Microsoft Dynamics NAV to a solution that was suited for larger-sized companies.""The configuration packages can be somewhat tiresome at times, and they can be slow when loading data.""The solution could include the retail tool in the native version.""Any request that had come from the website had to go through an e-form which was then plugged into Microsoft Dynamics NAV. There was no direct data capture. That was the pain point, where clients had to build e-forms, and that caused delays in transactions and getting information.""The solution is stable, but it could improve."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "There's an additional yearly cost for support."
  • "There are varying license levels that you can purchase."
  • "IFS Applications are competitive in terms of pricing compared to other vendors, such as SAP, Oracle, and Epicor. They are generally cheaper, especially for licensing costs."
  • "Compared to SAP, the pricing for IFS Applications was very affordable. People using the solution would find that it's worth the money."
  • "The pricing of the solution may appear to be expensive for smaller companies with only tens of users; however, for larger and mid-size industrial companies, IFS is able to win deals and the pricing is competitive in the market."
  • "The additional cost that comes with the solution includes the overhead of the people who are trying to fix the tool issues. These people are trying to reproduce the issue and report it to the technical support and testing with them which is huge. It is the cost of quality in the end."
  • "The pricing is relatively high compared to competitors."
  • "We pay for a license to use the solution, which is not very expensive."

  • "NAV might be a little pricey for a small or medium-sized company, but all the solutions out there are."
  • "The cost is one of the benefits. If you don't want to go for the full-blown finance and operations, the pricing model is a lot cheaper and has now switched to being based on a per-user subscription. So, if it's on cloud, you now have an expense instead of a large CapEx. If it's on-prem, you obviously still have to continue with the licensing model that they have, but if you compare the features and functionality, in terms of the price that you pay, I find it's better than other products. My answer on the pricing would be slightly different, depending on the country you're in and the return on investment, based on the size of the company. It's well-priced internationally. I think the new model is priced even better because it's now subscription-based and, if you go for cloud, the return on investment is a lot quicker and if it's expense, you can cap it. If you do take the on-prem version, the licensing is still priced as what it used to be, so that would depend on what country you are in."
  • "Its licensing is yearly. In addition to the licensing cost, there is the cost of hosting on Azure."
  • "I would rate the pricing of this solution at three out of five."
  • "We have a perpetual license to use Microsoft Dynamics NAV."
  • "The deployment cost us $70,000 and we pay around $18,000 annually for support, which we find to be expensive."
  • "The on-premises model of Dynamics NAV is very expensive, hence our plan to migrate to Dynamics 365 Business Central, which appears to fit our needs better in terms of pricing. Compared to competitors, the cloud version of Dynamics is in the middle; not too high and not too low."
  • "There is an annual cost of using Microsoft Dynamics NAV. The cost is approximately 140,000 INR."
