Application gateway optimizes performance and simplifies cloud transitions
There are a lot of things I appreciate about Microsoft Azure Application Gateway. Microsoft Azure Application Gateway is beneficial for us as it helps in publishing our website, providing us comfort when it comes to the availability of our applications. The autoscaling feature in Microsoft Azure Application Gateway is very obvious, and I have no issues with it; it is well planned and organized. Microsoft Azure Application Gateway impacts our cost savings while maintaining higher performance. The Web Application Firewall (WAF) in Microsoft Azure Application Gateway has been very effective in protecting applications from security threats. An excellent up-to-date data repository handling external threats successfully
We have multiple applications that we wanted to ensure were protected and we chose Symantec for that. I'm the head of IT infrastructure and we are partners with Symantec.  Symantec has specifically helped connect external users to our internal network. It has also enabled us to ensure that those…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is WAF."
"Using policies to link and manage these URL-based routing configurations is also valuable."
"The pricing is quite good."
"The solution's most valuable feature is an HTTP solution and SSL certificate. It is also easy to use."
"The solution was very easy to configure. It wasn't hard at all to adjust it to our needs."
"Application Gateway automatically redirects unwanted users and takes care of the security aspect. It also handles the performance side of things, which is why we use it."
"The production is a valuable feature."
"The health probe is pretty good for your backend health. It tells you whether it's communicating and talking to the endpoint correctly. It is quite useful."
"The solution has an up-to-date data repository to deal with external threats."
"The interface is user-friendly."
"The setup was straightforward."

Cons

"The working speed of the solution needs improvement."
"There is room for improvement in the pricing model."
"The solution has many limitations. You cannot upgrade the VPN to the application gateway. So I started with version one, which has limited capabilities, and they provided version two. And unfortunately, I cannot upgrade from v one to v two like other services. So I have to decommission the version one and create a new one with version two. Also the version one was complex with the certificates uploading the SQL certificates."
"Microsoft Azure Application Gateway's first deployment is complex. It needs to improve its pricing."
"The configuration is very specific right now and needs to be much more flexible."
"It is a bit tricky to configure. You've got to have a very specific format to configure it. They should make it a little bit easier to configure. Mapping the certificates into it isn't easy, and it could be better. Currently, you've to write a bit of automation to pull certificates directly to HTTPS."
"We have encountered some issues with automatic redirection and cancellation, leading to 502 and 504 gateway errors. So, I experienced some trouble with containers."
"We faced some downtime while validating CNAME."
"Sometimes scanning slows down the endpoints."
"I'm not convinced that it's necessary the best solution going forward in the future."
"It would be an improvement if the management dashboards were not reliant upon Java."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is paid monthly. The solution is highly expensive."
"It is an expensive solution. We have an enterprise agreement, it is monthly."
"I would rate the pricing a three out of ten, with ten being cheap and one being expensive."
"The price of the solution can be reduced a bit."
"The cost is not an issue."
"Microsoft Azure Application Gateway is expensive."
"We use the tool's basic subscription. Its licensing costs are monthly."
"Every solution comes with a license and cost. Microsoft provides the license and the total cost is for the maintenance every year."
