Real-time monitoring has improved incident response and supports proactive anomaly detection
The advantages and strong points of ITRS Geneos for me personally are seamless integration with existing systems as well as upcoming modern systems. The user interface is really good. From a management point of view, these are the key aspects with respect to the user interface and seamless integration. We get very good community support for this product. ITRS Geneos has impacted my organization positively, and I would rate it 4.5 out of 5.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"As a company looking to onboard, its capacity to monitor just about anything from Unix log files and processes to database memory, and even run queries and provide results, means it can be used as a one stop shop for all your monitoring needs if you understand how to utilise it to its fullest extent."
"It's a very effective and productive tool, and avoids any major incidents."
"I always appreciate Geneos's stability and ease of use."
"One of the most valuable features is that it can be configured by non-developers. It doesn't require development expertise to configure it."
"We previously used Nagios, but switched to Geneos as it has better monitoring for applications, and it has more features and better configuration possibilities."
"Switching over to using a Geneos dashboard, we completely eliminated all manual effort and it was a huge time saver."
"Geneos automatically sends email notifications when any batch job fails, the database is down or the website is down. It is automatically monitoring everything and reduces manual effort."
"The tool is highly customizable and can be tailored to your requirements."
"We use RUM and BSM and so far it has been really good at getting real user transactions from a real user monitor and then tying it to a BSM single view dashboard, where we get the whole realistic picture."
"If you have an old-fashioned infrastructure with data center servers then this is a good solution for you."
"The most useful feature of this solution is tracking. When the application's traffic has been monitored it is taken from that particular application and analyzed. It is then given a live session of that particular user. For example, if you are using your bank application to do some kind of transaction, everything that you do can be tracked by that application."
"The reporting feature is good for us."
"Real User Monitor does its job, and that is why we have stayed with it for so many years."
"Very easy to implement."
"It is a good product."
"The most valuable feature is application performance monitoring."

Cons

"Currently the dashboard does not have the capability of providing different status levels, and this needs to be updated."
"Data visualization – real time and historical – is a weakness."
"It would be good if there were documentation on the ITRS website such as tutorials or plugins which are available to download."
"The initial setup was a bit complex."
"We were a little bit confused but once we found out what was needed, it was smooth."
"The main weakness of the product is poor historical logging and reporting."
"I think there's a very steep learning curve with the product."
"There is a one-second ceiling on responses to rule breaches."
"We would like to see support for non-Windows environments."
"Most of the dashboards require a lot of configuration. We are not happy with the dashboard."
"One area to improve is the user interface, of course. The second one is their R&D has virtually stopped building a product roadmap."
"The solution's technical support presents a lot of issues with too many delays."
"Some issues with login errors."
"There have been some issues with customers implementing this solution and with login errors, which could be areas for improvement."
"Real User Monitor needs to cover more protocols to provide more in-depth information. It could also be better at monitoring voice-related traffic. There is currently no visibility in that channel."
"Customer support needs to improve by bringing in more people who are knowledgeable about the tool, as there are very few left."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Pricing and licensing is based on the requirements."
"The pricing seems reasonable. We're happy enough with it."
"ITRS Geneos is not a cheap tool. It's a moderate price for the banking industry. The reason we are not able to add the ITRS monitoring tool for the non-banking industries, and non-finance industries, is that the pricing is too high."
"Based on feedback from colleagues and friends working in the financial sector, Geneos is relatively costly. Many companies have been switching from Geneos to Dynatrace, Sysdig, or other monitoring tools in the past two years because of the price."
"Given our spend and the amount of service we have in it, the pricing is quite reasonable."
"You will get the best price if you get a single global deal."
"When I first came in, their pricing was very high. ITRS had a high expectation of what their price should be based on perceived value. I think they have been realizing, more recently, that there are other competitors, so their pricing is a lot better. Licensing for on-premise is okay, however I feel there is quite some work to be done for cloud and containers. We're still working with them to try and work out what that pricing should look like."
"I can say it's not that cheap because the licensing is a little bit costly"
"If I compare with other vendors, other vendors are more expensive"
"Not expensive."
"Compared to other tools, OpenText Real User Monitoring is an expensive solution."
"The price is approximately €30,000 ($35,500 USD) for the enterprise edition."
