With the help of the solution, we can predict and prevent failures
Currently, the most valuable thing for an individual is a mobile device. Since that is where people are currently tracking everything, we have multiple applications or apps that are for various products. I would like ITRS Geneos to develop an app, where instead of going to specific login terminals or logging into laptops or desktops to check alerts, we can have visibility in the app itself. Using the ITRS Geneos app, we could see the error message during our travels or wherever we are. I would like to see the capacity of messages for forecasting increased. Since the NSE is the number one derivative stock exchange in the work for three consecutive years, the number of messages is important. We use the capacity planner in ITRS to forecast our data needs for the next two months. The planner is important because the volume of data we produce is becoming more and more volatile compared to when we first started using ITRS Geneos in 2014.

Real-time monitoring has improved our banking API performance and supports detailed business transaction analysis
The real-time monitoring is what we can see for anything that is needed in terms of CPU, memory, or the connections or the sessions related. It's real-time monitoring of performance of each of the components, which is what we need and use all the time. It's highly effective, I would say. Infrastructure visibility, transaction monitoring, to check the actual user experience in terms of the response time, MRT and all those things. We do the component monitoring like the API performance and the connections and all those things, but we also do the business process monitoring and business transaction monitoring.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Their customer support is first rate."
"I always appreciate Geneos's stability and ease of use."
"We use Geneos to monitor our own development and production environments, and due to its automation capabilities we are able to automatically restart failed processes and alert our developers to issues in our applications and infrastructure without traditional eyes on glass monitoring."
"Our support team can monitor our applications and servers easily and we were able to reduce the time in finding errors and providing a solution."
"It’s very easy to install and setup, offers high scalability, and has a low resource use."
"ITRS is the best monitoring tool I have used so far."
"ITRS uses SNMP to communicate with our devices as well as SNMP net probes installed on our servers."
"One of the benefits is to have 24/7 automated monitoring of our most critical services; in general, it has drastically increased the visibility of our estate, definitely improved our response times to issues, and enabled us to proactively detect issues and prevent outages as well."
"The monitoring is similar to Dynatrace."
"I find troubleshooting is quicker because we can drill down into the end points and see which endpoints are getting critical."
"End-user monitoring (web and mobile)"
"One thing we like about AppDynamics is the fact that you get the end-to-end topology right out the gate, with very little configuration, so right when you start up a new application it's automatically reporting and you can get deeper dives without having in-depth knowledge of your application because it automatically makes those connections for you."
"Users can configure business sections in their environment, and it's possible for customers to configure different sources for the name of the class, the name of the method, or the name of the web service, which is very interesting."
"Saving time is definitely the main point with Splunk AppDynamics for quickly resolving problems, because whenever they are facing an issue, they quickly identify the root cause, can proceed with fixing it, and these things help with better performance and a better customer experience that definitely helps them get more financial benefits."
"The feature we find most valuable, is that the solution creates a unified platform making it really easy to pinpoint a problem, and then drill down into a transaction to resolve the issue."
"It provides great tools for monitoring and managing all the different environments of Dev, QA, and Prod with different needs but from a common interface."

Cons

"Still, it’s not that easy to create stuff to help with visibility and dashboarding in Geneos."
"We all look at the same things - CPU, disk space, paging stats, service status with RAG status on each. That could be provided straight out, saving significant time."
"I believe the product has to improve on reporting."
"At the moment Geneos is excellent and handling real time monitoring, however not great at doing historical reporting."
"ITRS Geneos is not on the cloud at a time when everyone is moving to the cloud."
"The ITA, the post-incident analytics, could be improved."
"Much of the reporting outside of the user interface is very basic and requires much customization to be useful."
"A lightweight version which could host more than 100 gateways, as we can see slowness while loading all our gateways."
"We’re having difficulty with the Apache web agent. It seems to be consuming too many resources of AppDynamics."
"It's a very complex application, and requires almost a full-time person to be in there working on it all the time."
"The application end of AppDynamics Database Monitoring needs to improve by checking which applications consume licenses."
"The way the agentless monitoring and agent monitoring get used is to be decided by the user, but there is no clarification on the setup phase or on how and why to use the aforementioned options."
"The configuration is tricky and requires a lot of tools."
"This is an expensive solution."
"An area for improvement in AppDynamics Server Monitoring is integration; in particular, it needs a better way to integrate with custom applications such as Siebel CRM."
"The user access management could be a bit better."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The organization is not just purchasing a license for the product, but also managing services and professional services from ITRS. Another factor is if the implementation is going to be in production, non-production, or both."
"ITRS Geneos is not a cheap tool. It's a moderate price for the banking industry. The reason we are not able to add the ITRS monitoring tool for the non-banking industries, and non-finance industries, is that the pricing is too high."
"Pricing and licensing is based on the requirements."
"The licensing cost may seem expensive upfront. However, the service is outstanding, the tool does things that no other tools can do, and the customizability more than makes up for the cost of licensing."
"You will get the best price if you get a single global deal."
"The pricing is fairly market-related. They have been very lenient because we have been working with them for so long. An example is that we're currently migrating some of our services to AWS, and they've given us a grace period for some of the things to help with the migration and not to grow additional costs while we are migrating, but it's still on par with the market."
"It is expensive. They have to look at the model around when we move to cloud and how that's going to work. The licensing cost does pay off because of the improvements in support to our business."
"The product is priced quite high. There are pricing options for customers based on the size of the environment and plug-ins used by the monitoring system."
"Purchasing the product through the AWS Marketplace was good."
"The pricing is quite comparable to similar solutions in the market. All these solutions at the moment are cheap, but it is like paying for insurance; you pay insurance to avoid major damage."
"There is a license to use this solution. However, the clients pay for the licenses we are the service provider."
"One of the main downsides to the solution is its cost."
"The licensing cost is fairly high"
"It could be cheaper. It's a little cost prohibitive. There are so many features that also show a lot of value, but it’s not always easy to justify the cost."
"I rate AppDynamics Mobile Real-User Monitoring's pricing as seven out of ten. Mobile monitoring is paid based on the number of instances utilizing the mobile monitoring service, which increases as the scale grows. Consequently, your mobile user count can proportionally surpass all other applications."
"We buy the platform's yearly subscription."
