Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The solution is great at being able to fetch almost any kind of file.""It is easy to integrate with other models such as Oracle, other systems, external systems, and to reach events.""This product allows us to make use of open-source products, including running Java code.""The most valuable feature that comes with Netcool/Impact is the ISPF APA support. It is inherent to Netcool/Impact, so I can use the ISPF of any other product, which I can invoke and consume through Impact, and do integrations, which is great. I run the Netcool desktop application so I can integrate with other applications in the ticketing system. It's a great ability being able to invoke ISPF and integrate."

"It is an easy product to use and it is stable.""The service has been wonderful. I like the people that I have had to deal with. The process is very straightforward. I call or use the website.""Their technical support is incredible, immediately responsive, and even if it is not updated to Level 2 support sometimes, they chip in providing more detailed answers and options to fix the problem.""With the automation pieces we can bring this region up or take this region down, and it allows us to always meet our time critical requirements.""Because we can define complex commands, the training of new operators is quicker. We can also put checks in place, that will prevent user errors.""I do not have to keep recordings. It is there and is proactive. It helps the operators, human editors, and me.""It's a very stable product. I very much like the SSM stuff in it. The rules engine, it's awesome.""It reduces the number of repetitive motions required by a human to respond to the system."

Cons
"For improvement, I'd say the dashboard and the overall GUI could use some work. Although, I don't think that there's much improvement that Netcool really needs to achieve in this area, because when we're talking GUI, Impact is able to integrate with any third-party system and it comes with ISPF APA. It's more beneficial than Netcool/OMNIbus in this respect, and it's quite easy to handle.""The solution is somewhat complicated. It's not exactly straightforward.""Stability-wise, this product needs to be improved.""IBM is not investing in the development of the on-premise version of this solution."

"One thing that comes to mind is the MQ interface. The last time we tried to use it, it seemed a little clunky.""It definitely needs more web-based interface, to be more mobile-open. More APIs, more open source to it.""The reason sometimes it is not stable, we do not have the expertise to write the script.""Scalability is zero. It cannot be scaled because of its age.""The interfaces to USS, CA UIM could be better. CA Common Services interfaces - namely Zdata Mover, Zmessage Service, Zdatacolletcor - are poorly documented.""It’s a complex product. The initial installation is easy, but implementing various functions is a constant process.""Because of its age, it's a little bit difficult to modernize some of the integrations and some of the functions.""Some of the command sequences are too long."
