Centralized device management has automated onboarding and improves remote security compliance
One thing I feel Microsoft Intune could improve is troubleshooting visibility. In many cases, when a policy or application deployment fails, the error messages are a bit generic. So, admins still spend time checking logs manually or testing on devices one by one. Compared to the simplicity of deployment, troubleshooting sometimes feels less mature. I also think reporting and real-time monitoring could be stronger. The dashboard gives useful information, but in large environments, many teams still depend on additional tools or scripts for deeper reporting and analytics. If I had to focus on one area first, I would probably choose troubleshooting and reporting. Deployment through Microsoft Intune is generally straightforward, but when something fails, identifying the exact root cause can still take more time than expected. Error messages are sometimes too generic, and admins often have to dig through logs, sync status, or multiple portals to understand what actually happened. I think user experience and policy management could also improve further. Microsoft Intune has become much better over the years, but sometimes the admin portal still feels fragmented because certain configurations open in different sections or redirect to older interfaces. For new admins, especially, it can take time to understand where everything is located. Another thing is policy conflict handling. In larger organizations, multiple device policies, compliance rules, and configuration profiles can overlap. When conflicts happen, the visibility is not always very clear, so admins spend time figuring out which policy actually won or caused the issue.

Infrastructure as code has standardized multi-environment provisioning and reduces manual work
The best features I found most useful in IBM HashiCorp Infrastructure Lifecycle Management are reusable Terraform modules, infrastructure as code with version control, and automated provisioning across environments. I also appreciate the plan and apply workflow because we can review infrastructure changes before deployment and maintain a clear history of what changed. I rely most on the infrastructure as code feature because it gives us a consistent way to manage infrastructure through version-controlled configuration. It also makes changes easier to preview, reproduce, and roll back compared with making changes manually in the cloud console. One thing I wish I had understood earlier regarding the features is the importance of designing Terraform modules and state management properly from the beginning. I also find the integration with CI/CD and policy controls valuable because it helps us enforce standards without adding too much manual work. IBM HashiCorp Infrastructure Lifecycle Management has mainly improved consistency and reduced the time needed to provision and update infrastructure. We have also seen fewer configuration issues because changes go through a standardized version control process instead of being handled manually.

Centralized endpoint control has streamlined deployments and improved security compliance
In my experience, the best features of Microsoft Configuration Manager are software deployments and updates, OSD, hardware and software inventory, compliance and configuration baseline, reporting and monitoring, and integration with Intune hybrid management. These features make endpoint management efficient and scalable. The feature I rely on the most day-to-day is software deployment and patch management. It keeps endpoints updated and secure with minimal manual effort. Inventory and compliance monitoring are also important, but daily deployments are critical. Microsoft Configuration Manager has had a significant positive impact on our organization in several ways: improved efficiency, enhanced security and compliance, standardization, scalability, and visibility reporting. Overall, Microsoft Configuration Manager has helped us save time, reduce risk, improve operational efficiency, and maintain strong control over our endpoints. One of the biggest impacts Microsoft Configuration Manager has had on efficiency is the reduced manual work for software deployment and patching. For example, deploying a new application or security updates to hundreds or thousands of devices previously required several days of manual effort, including running scripts, checking devices individually, and validating installation. With Microsoft Configuration Manager, these tasks are automated and managed, allowing deployments to complete in hours rather than days. We also have automated reporting for deployment success and compliance which saved the IT team significant time that used to be spent gathering and reconciling inventory data from multiple tools.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"Before having Intune, we didn't have the capability to have computers wiped, couldn't manage the operating system from a central location, and weren't able to deploy policies and verify software updates, and it's helped with software update needs, operating system version update needs, and security policy enforcement."
"Microsoft Intune is a great product, and you should use it."
"I really appreciate the features in Microsoft Intune, including the Intune Suite Cloud PKI."
"Being able to manage the devices remotely is most valuable. We can push security requirements through Microsoft Intune."
"Autopilot is the most valuable feature."
"Microsoft Intune is easy to use, and it is able to enforce policies towards multiple devices. It is able to bring multiple classes of devices into the same security posture. I found that very useful."
"The main advantage is that Intune performs its intended functions effectively."
"Its overall integration into Microsoft 365 is great."
"IBM HashiCorp Infrastructure Lifecycle Management has positively impacted my organization by significantly reducing manual infrastructure work."
"Before using Terraform, our team used manual setup to create clusters in AWS using the AWS console, which would extend into two to three sprints for one person to set up all those components, and with Terraform and those reusable modules, we were able to minimize it to two to three days with all verifications included."
"Overall, IBM HashiCorp Infrastructure Lifecycle Management has been a practical solution for standardizing infrastructure management and reducing manual provisioning work."
"IBM HashiCorp Infrastructure Lifecycle Management has positively impacted my organization as it has been very beneficial for us for quick provisioning of infrastructure since I have been using it for the last two years."
"Automation of operating system, application, and update deployments massively reduces IT operations effort."
"The main key feature that we find the most valuable is the patching."
"The new CMD features are excellent."
"The major features of this product are the reporting tools. The most valuable features are package deployment and application deployment. Security management is also good because any vulnerability will be identified, and you can fix it. It's the best tool because you never know what kind of client you will have. For example, you may have your offices in low bandwidth remote areas. But it's achievable because it accommodates the bandwidth that you have available. Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager is an excellent reporting tool for your environment. If you want to know the details about the hardware configuration, software configuration, what is causing a problem, or when a new feature update comes in for Windows, even that goes on SCCM itself. A lot of deployment stuff."
"The solution is the best there is in the market today."
"I like Mircosoft's technical support. Microsoft has a few updates, like some of the critical KBs. They are published within the interval time, and in case of an escalation on the client missions, we will raise a ticket with the Microsoft team. They will create a hotfix or a critical update. They will chat with us, and that is one thing I like about Microsoft. Whenever any issues occur at my organization, they will help you out soon as possible within the SLA."
"By having less IT support you can handle more workstations."
"It is a very well-rounded product. It is a complete package with all the features using which we are able to manage our PCs very efficiently."

Cons

"I wish Microsoft would keep up with their documentation. They make changes so quickly to these platforms that they do not update the documentation properly in a timely manner."
"My experience with them was very bad. They don't know about their own product."
"The solution could improve by having better integration with Apple."
"Microsoft Intune could be improved with a more intuitive user interface, simpler policy configuration for complex environments, and faster troubleshooting tools."
"The solution requires Mac support."
"When somebody has a customized application or their own company's application, we cannot deploy that application."
"There could be more wizard-driven policy development or creation. Some of the policies can get quite complex. If they have a wizard that assists the administrators in creating the policy, that will be a great job."
"In the past, I raised some tickets for the enhancement feature, which was missing in Intune."
"IBM HashiCorp Infrastructure Lifecycle Management can be improved with easier onboarding, as newcomers to Terraform and the HashiCorp ecosystem may find it challenging to understand and complete the workflow."
"For platform teams, I would appreciate an easier way to manage changes across a large set of accounts and clusters."
"One area for improvement in IBM HashiCorp Infrastructure Lifecycle Management would be making the initial setup and learning curve simpler, especially around Terraform state, modules, and workspace management."
"I feel it is not a perfect ten because, as of now, I am using only the open source version where I have encountered some tricky options, and I still require some AI contribution while creating infrastructures; as of now, it is very hard-coded and involves other manual tasks, which is why I am choosing eight, not ten."
"Cloud-based improvements need to be better managed than is currently the case."
"Microsoft should extend support for additional platforms."
"It would be better if automation options were available. For example, in Nexthink or SysTrack, there is an analytical tool. Creating dashboards would be very easy if you implement the same thing in Microsoft. That report will be a daily cost to the customers and good revenue for our organization. The price also could be better. In the next release, we need to include some features like tables, dashboards, surveys, services, and metrics in the dashboard. Whatever we are implementing will be downloaded by a report. Apart from the report, we will telecast from the dashboard. It's very easy to compare, and it will be easy to telecast to the end-users."
"There were misconfigurations by our team rather than issues with the product itself. However, it does seem a bit buggy from time to time, based on what I have heard."
"Marketing: Our management doesn't understand that there is a piece of software which helps them automate and manage the entire network, as far as operating systems on computers."
"It is a bit of an old and outdated product."
"I want the system to provide some dependency relations. I would also like to see the relationship between different machines."
"The main SCCM lacks some things, which they incorporated into Microsoft Intune. When I evaluated these two products, one from VMware Workspace One and one from Microsoft, I found that there is something missing in SCCM, which is available and works very well in VMware Workspace One."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Microsoft Intune's pricing is reasonable."
"While Microsoft Intune boasts a wide range of features, its user-friendliness and bundled licensing cost are key considerations for me."
"Intune's pricing is reasonable considering its benefits and the high costs it helps avoid."
"It comes as a bundle, so you do not really know what the prices are. Microsoft does not break it down to the user cost for us. It is just bundled with our E5 license."
"I liked the tool's pricing until P2 came into effect. I am unsure about the current value versus the cost of the new licensing model."
"As a partner, we always look for how we can generate more revenue from a consulting point of view, but I do not see any complaints from the customer side regarding pricing, so they are satisfied with it."
"The pricing is competitive, but it is not cheap."
"For organizations that are a Microsoft shop, the pricing is compelling."

"Pricing is negotiable with Microsoft, depending upon which of their packages you choose."
"The price is competitive and reasonable."
"Pricing and licensing are a downside of SCCM. It's expensive. I'd have to confirm this, but I think they changed the licensing to core-based instead of socket-based. It's not cheap, because you have to buy the software, you have to buy SQL. Another thing we learned from talking to Microsoft is that they provide you a license for SQL if you run it on the same box as the primary server. If you run it outside that box, you have to buy SQL. Microsoft does recommend you running it on the same box because of performance. But then, in order to run SQL, SCCM, and everything on the same box, you better have some resources. It's an expensive solution. There's no doubt about it."
"Its licensing is quite complicated because we are getting the license not only for SCCM but for the full Microsoft package. We don't need to pay for a separate license. We need to have one license that includes everything we need, such as Windows, Microsoft 365, SCCM, encryption, and so on. So, we don't have a specific price for it. Perhaps, it is good that it includes the full suite of licensing of Microsoft. It is expensive, but we are getting a lot of features."
"The licensing is good because they have various options, depending on what you are looking for."
"Pricing and licensing are horrible. You have to not look at dollar value to use SCCM. It's super-duper expensive but it works. The acquisition cost is expensive, it's labor-intensive. But it works."
"We have a support license from Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager and the overall price of the solution is reasonable."
"There is an annual license needed to use the solution."
