It works pretty well as a standalone development and management front-end
I still use PL/SQLDeveloper in parallel. I used it before, simply due to the integration into the Delphi Development environment in the good old days of the late 90s. Even if others perceived such add-ons as coltish gimmicks, I must say I loved such things. My focus moved to manipulating and querying huge data sets rather than developing PL/SQL packages. My focus shifts from time to time or quickly, dependent on the situation and usage scenario. Oracle SQL Developer does its job very well today. I would not switch to a Mac version of SQLDetective or Linux. CLI is sufficient in most cases anyway on one of those two operating systems where any way to access information is better than none.
