Good solution for finance in general but falls short on the manufacturing side
There is room for improvement when it comes to reporting and the manufacturing piece in general. I would like to see more of a complete solution with the operations end of the business, namely the quality management system and the production pieces. It's very good at project costing, cost accounting, accounting and finance in general. Where it falls short is the manufacturing side. Overall, the solution is very difficult to use and learn. The learning curve is difficult. Also, the GUI and user interface are not intuitive.

Has required ongoing support and modernization but effectively manages core operations and complex workflows
Microsoft Dynamics AX is a very strong ERP system, applicable for customizations to help companies and organizations streamline their processes. The specific feature I find most valuable about Microsoft Dynamics AX is the applicable permissions. There are many levels of security and permissions for each user to monitor and access specific data relative to their functions. Additionally, the linkage and transition between exploring and moving from window to window, from function to function is valuable. The impact of Microsoft Dynamics AX on managing financial processes is significant. It's a very important element for financial departments as it represents all transactions, references, and records. The adjustments and availability to create more than one virtual company allow large companies, which combined represent one group of companies, to connect and streamline their financials and operations.

"Moving our production process from forecasting only to a master plan, including demand forecast and supply forecast wish, is great progress."
"It's scalable."
"One of the valuable features of the solution is how easy it is to use."
"The finance and finance reporting features are good."
"The sales module, with features such as pricing and creating promotions, stands out to me as the most useful."
"ERP's major objective is to integrate all departments and functions across the organization and branches onto a single computer system that can serve all the department's particular needs."
"Microsoft Dynamics AX represents the backbone of the company's operations across all functions; it's our main system."

Cons

"Overall, the solution is very difficult to use and learn. The learning curve is difficult. Also, the GUI and user interface are not intuitive."
"The product takes some training to get up to speed on all functionality and modules in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 ERP system."
"It is not very easy to scale because you have to deal with the partner at the time. You need to spend some effort in order to scale."
"Microsoft Dynamics AX needs to improve its support and the developer experience. Developing and programming are more complex. Automation and integration with other apps should be simplified."
"We actually have a lot of problems with the stability of Dynamics AX. We spend a lot of time trying to solve bugs and other issues."
"The 2012 version is obsolete, and we don't have any support for it."
"The database requires a huge CPU and memory resources."
"They should include some modules related to solving customer problems or resolving support tickets from our customers — like a help desk for ERPs."
"Our version has performance issues so it gets stuck and is slow."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The product's license renewal cost could be better."
"Comparatively, Business Central appears to be more cost-effective. Microsoft offers Business Central at only $70 per user per month in the US. In contrast, GP requires an initial investment, including around $9,000 for the GP license for three users and additional expenses for hardware. Therefore, the initial investment for GP is quite substantial. On the other hand, cloud-based ERP products like Business Central do not entail the same upfront investment and operate on an ongoing, subscription-based model."
"Go for cloud implementation, if cost is critical."
"One client was looking at a $5M SAP proposal and we got AX in just under $2M, and they were very happy with it as they have several sister companies that face $500K SAP upgrades/maintenance seemingly annually."
"The product's pricing is expensive. The tool costs 210 USD per user for one month."
"The tool is cheap."
"The platform's price offering is good."
"It has a pay-as-you-go subscription."
