We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I like everything about this tool. I recommend this solution to anyone looking for a standalone solution with high availability meaning that can be used depending on the customers requirements.""I like the deep-dive detail and end-user metrics data. The synthetic monitor is the best one. The best point of the new one is that there's no need for configuration. You can inject the Java script and start to change major developments in the application. This is a good approach, and we received all the data using this.""The most valuable feature of BMC TrueSight Operations Management is the dashboard presentation server.""The event management tool builds correlation logic and protection algorithms into a field of events that is valuable when a data center goes down.""The most valuable features are the rich reports, high performance, and the look and feel of the WebEx webpage are very good.""It is a stable solution.""I like the event management part.""Intelligent solution with a proactive monitoring feature and consolidated dashboard that's stable and easy to scale."

"The solution is a high-performance platform that effectively handles three-layered issues like SA and network fiber cables.""Nutanix Prism is very simple to use compared to other products. I have tried a number of tools, including VMware ESXi. Nutanix Prism is much simpler to use and we feel data transfers in it are very fast.""It can combine computing, storage and networks in a single location.""The features that I have found most valuable are its storage flexibility, linear scalability, and perhaps ease of use and powerful support.""We can also manage our disaster recovery plan from a single console.""Nutanix is a HCA product and includes VMware called Nutanix Express that has been fantastic for us. We have about 100 plus VMs without any trouble and we have VCDR.""Nutanix Prism is popular in the Indian market, particularly in enterprises where they need a DR type of environment, and where they look for less than finite RPO and RTO. If you have this environment on-premises, and if you can just rent out some portion to any of the service providers, then you can easily set up a DR environment to give you a finite list versus RPO and RTO.""The auto-update option is a valuable feature for us."

Cons
"BMC TrueSight Operations Management could improve the reporting.""The graphs are extremely limited. We don't have a lot of dashboard options. To make reports and dashboards more useful, we usually need to integrate some dashboard solutions.""I would like them to improve the deep-dive details, tracing, and data agents in this product. We have EUEM, an end-user experience monitoring appliance. This one's quicker than the current one, and reporting side and filtration side are very bad. There are many details we look at and explain what we receive information in the current one, but we cannot have historical data like we do with EUEM. We cannot have a powerful point to look for specific traffic from a specific application and a specific browser. We don't have it in the new one. The current BMC also needs to add the thing that control versions.""The dashboard and performance graphs should include a way to automatically schedule and export reports.""It would be better if the initial setup and deployment were more straightforward.""BMC TrueSight Operations Management could use some enhancements in the application visibility tools.""The pricing could be better.""The UI for the end users could be improved and more flexible than it is now."

More BMC TrueSight Operations Management Cons →

"The dashboard visibility could be improved.""The solution should offer the ability to change network settings without removing the network card from the virtual machine.""Prism is not very user-friendly, particularly in its upgrade process, compared to vSAN.""There is a bug with the HTML5 interface.""Performance metrics and analytics could be improved.""It doesn't integrate very well with any backup solution.""Nutanix Prism could improve by having more features or configurations in the web interface. We should not have to use the command-line interface(CLI). For some clients using the CLI can be difficult.""One problem I faced when creating a VM and adding a hard disk to is that Nutanix Prism did not allow me to reduce that VM's hard disk."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The price of BMC TrueSight Operations Management is very high. If there was more flexibility with the sizing of the licensing it would be helpful, especially during the pandemic. We have wanted to expend but the licensing cost is too high."
  • "BMC TrueSight Operations Management is not on the cheaper side, but its pricing is on a case by case basis. Its licensing model is simple and based on the number of devices."
  • "Annual licensing amount depends on the customers requirements. Support is an additional fee and there are options for three and five year support."
  • "They have changed the licensing fees."
  • "The solution is based on endpoints and knowledge models which can be costly."

  • "The license we bought for Nutanix Prism is perpetual, so once you have it, you can keep on using it. It's a three-year license that's paid one time. The license we have covers the three-node cluster."
  • "The license for Prism is costlier than other VMs."
  • "We have spent a lot of money on the Nutanix solution with Prism. Yet, for this amount of money we could be buying high-end storage with a lot of IOPS and bandwidth, even more than with Nutanix."
  • "Nutanix have bundles for pricing. On a single bundle, we get everything including vSAN or VMware and there are no additional costs. It is just a single license that is needed."
  • "Prism is cheaper compared to competitors like Cisco HyperFlex or HP vSAN."
  • "The pricing is based on a licensing model and is around $10,000 for a two-year license."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by BMC TrueSight Operations Management users.

Mudassir A., Sr. Technical Consultant at a tech services company, says, "The event management part of TrueSight Operations Management, in my experience, is probably the best in the market. You have endless flexibility. You can build your own rules, you have the MRL language, and you can implement any kind of logic on the alerts. It may be correlation, abstraction, or executing something as a result of the alerts. You have almost the whole range of options available for event management using the available customization."

A General Manager - Sales at a tech services company explains, “There are many features that are most valuable in BMC TrueSight Operations Management. First, its proactive monitoring feature is highly developed. BMC TrueSight Operations Management is an intelligent tool that's able to understand day-to-day operations and consistently gives alerts. The alerts are not automatic for some activities, e.g. some alerts are given monthly, while some are given more frequently. The consolidated dashboard where you can enjoy a single pane of glass to look at the full infrastructure from the servers to the VMs, to the clouds, to the application, to the database, to the network devices, including having a topology, and having a tendency map of the topology of key offerings, is also a valuable feature of this solution.”

An Information Systems Computer System Controller at an insurance company states, “The business event manager tool that consolidates detailed information from a single instance of equipment is the most valuable thing for me. It provides support for the business tools and the IT services which come from several systems.”
