Sentiment score
4.1
VMware Live Recovery customer service is generally effective, but occasional delays and improvement suggestions exist, especially with third-party issues.
Not needing technical support is even better than good technical support.
Our team has dedicated personnel for support who engage with the supporting teams.
They are knowledgeable.
The technical support from VMware is very good and operates based on a service level.

Sentiment score
7.2
BDRShield is scalable across environments, supporting large data volumes and future growth, with potential hardware upgrades for optimal performance.

Sentiment score
8.5
VMware Live Recovery is generally stable and reliable, though some users face issues during upgrades or high-capacity use.
For our test labs, dev labs, and production, it is very stable.

Room For Improvement

BDRShield faces criticism for its complex UI, lacking features, support issues, and limited integration and stability options.
VMware Live Recovery needs better storage integration, automation, support, interface, documentation, pricing, cloud compatibility, and enhanced AI capabilities.
There could always be little things that could still be fixed or improved for stability.
It's important for the cost to be justified based on the features used in production.
I would like to see improved integration services with other solutions, such as SIEM management or security monitoring.
The main issue is to improve the approach of resolving solutions.

Setup Cost

BDRShield provides cost-effective, flexible pricing options with some licensing complexity, praised for affordability and user-friendly experience.
VMware Live Recovery costs depend on VM count and protection plan, with pricing complexity increasing after the Broadcom acquisition.
Previously, when acquiring a license for Ethiopian drug supply chains, the price was significantly high, especially after Broadcom joined VMware.
We mostly prefer to recommend this to customers due to ease of use, abundant features, and support.
For cloud-based solutions, the cost seems quite pricey, so we stick to on-premises deployment.

Valuable Features

BDRShield excels in automatic backups, seamless integration, and storage efficiency, ensuring quick recovery and effective multi-tenant management.
The solution provides automated disaster recovery, VMware integration, and seamless management for robust business continuity and operational efficiency.
The features I find most valuable are ease of backup, ease of restore, the full restore, just getting some data out of a backup server or even the applications that are in the server, going through the database or going to Exchange.
If I talk about vCenter and the auto failover of the VMs, such as live migration, that is a very cool feature that we require in our environment because we have different data centers, and if some of the servers fail, they automatically failover and move the VM from one side to another.
It is used for data replication between data centers and allows for quick response in times of failure, ensuring data availability.
The capability and the functionality of the features are very helpful for us.

Ease of backup and restore improves data management with reliable support
The interface of BDRSuite Backup & Replication is pretty intuitive. Regarding their marketing strategy, I'm very bad at marketing. I always get a little edgy when people try to shove their product in my face. There are two sides to the story. If you don't know something exists, you might not even start to look for it unless you really know that you need it. If you are explicitly looking for a solution, then you'll find it. People that don't know that they should do backup don't have a place in IT. I rate BDRSuite Backup & Replication 8.5 out of 10.

Has enabled seamless VM management and automated failover while support response needs improvement
For support issues, they help with the issue, but it takes a very long time. The reason is that they engage a very initial resource and then escalate to another level, and during these level escalations, our time is wasted. They do not understand the severity of the issue. They go through step-by-step and then go to the upper level. This may be their SOP, but we require instant support and instant resolution of the problem, so here VMware Live Recovery is lacking. They follow their SOP, but they initially engage very low-level personnel who are not able to answer or resolve the issue, so they escalate or take a very long time to resolve the issue. The main issue is to improve the approach of resolving solutions. I may not be able to suggest new features because in these recent months, I have not been very close to it as we are exploring different solutions.
