Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"If you ever tried to draw a picture in a browser app or with a cloud service, it is normally a painful death. ARIS works perfectly on diagrams in the browser, so I was excited. I like it because there have been so many bad experiences in the past with drawing or doing something in a browser. Normally, it's always painful because it's coded badly. With ARIS, it is really well-implemented. It's simple.""ARIS BPA provides very good visibility and control of processes because we have a concurrent license system. As a result, every person in our company and group is able to look at the published processes.""ARIS provides the basic foundation for any digital transformation an organization decides to take.""ARIS is probably the most mature product in terms of modeling an enterprise architecture so that it has context.""I am an advanced user. ARIS BPM is intuitive for me because I know the UML, BPMN, and EPC methodologies implemented in this tool. It is very easy to create processes for restructuring a company with some descriptions.""It brings transparency and 360-degree views of end-to-end processes.""The ease of use is the most valuable. I have tried a number of BPMN packages, and I find the user interface of ARIS BPM easier and more intuitive than others. If your team is knowledgeable on BPMN, it is really pretty easy to figure out on your own because it adheres to the standards extremely well. I have tried Bizagi, BizFlow, and a variety of such solutions, and I just liked ARIS BPM better.""We also have relationships specified with our IT systems and our organizational chart. That makes it possible to analyze things from the systems point of view and regarding the organizational part of the company. It all comes together in one tool and that is what gives us the most value at the moment."

"This is one of the best tools to support the business and the way we work, and the numerous processes we need to implement.""It is a very powerful solution.""The most valuable features are the integration capabilities - BPM can connect with almost any legacy or advanced system.""IBM BPM's best features include document sharing, management document creation, widget and barcode creation, and integration.""The most valuable feature is the ability to customize your rules and put them inside the tool.""The most valuable feature for the organization is the Document Store.""It's a solid product. It covers most of the pain points for clients.""IBM BPM is a stable solution."

Cons
"The model graphics can be exported in PDF, but the model is too small to read.""If you want to create new reports then you have to use JavaScript, or ARIS script as they call it, which is beyond the competencies of most people.""Simulation is one area that is a bit complex.""Migration to the next release is very tricky. You can't do it without support from ARIS or from a software kit. And it takes a lot of time and a lot of money to migrate. My impression is that a lot of companies do not migrate regularly because of that issue.""The standard out-of-the-box solutions for modeling are not so good. You have to do some configuration to make it easier and more user-friendly.""There should be a more intuitive tool when creating reports.""There are reports available in ARIS and you can modify them a bit if you want something more specific, but it's not that easy to adjust them and make modifications. It would be nice to have some kind of tool to do that, something that is more user-friendly for people who are not too technical, so that they could create reports the way they want them.""Its governance tool and integration with ESB and execution engine can be improved. Their partner support can also be improved."

More ARIS BPA Cons →

"I would like to see the solution be able to interact with other customer software solutions.""This is technology, and there's always room for improvement. It would be better to have a single solution. Trying to have an overview in terms of this solution brings together the concepts of BPM processes, customer journeys, and an automation part for KPIs. All of this working together and coming up with a single solution with privacy is more commercial than anything else.""The interface is limited and should improve in the future.""If you want to use IBM BPM, you will have to invest a lot of money for licenses and you need to learn that there are limitations in developing applications. You cannot create anything you want.""The configuration is not that easy, and the initial deployment took three months.""The coaches and the user interface are the areas that can be improved a lot. It is good in terms of data processing, but the UI, scripting, and coaches are not very user-friendly and developer-friendly. Performance is always an issue. The scripting and the pattern that it uses are very tedious for new developers to understand, and it takes time to master it in depth. When comparing IBM BPM with IBM APN, a lot of things are provided out of the box in IBM APN. We don't have to write code or a Java connector to make a functionality work. It would be very helpful and time-saving for developers if IBM BPM is improved in this area to provide many functionalities or drag-and-drop options so that the developers don't have to write the code.""You must have good experience to work with it. It is not that easy. Its installation is complex, especially in the new version for business automation, and it could be improved. It has a safety application embedded inside it, and you need to do a lot of configuration to install it. I have been working for two days to resolve an issue.""The pricing is a little bit high. It's gone up in cost."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "This is absolutely not the cheapest solution in the market, but for large companies, the price is fine."
  • "It depends on different parameters."
  • "The setup cost and pricing depend on the license (Modeler, Viewer, Administrator)."
  • "The price could be better."
  • "The price of the solution is reasonable."
  • "We have a concurrent license system."
  • "ARIS is quite expensive."
  • "ARIS enables you to start small and grow the use of the solution over time, although it's quite expensive. So if you want to start small, it's quite an investment for a small company."
  • More ARIS BPA Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Its price is on the higher side, and it can be improved. Its licensing is on a yearly basis. There are no additional costs."
  • "IBM could improve the price. It is far too expensive."
  • "I wish it was less expensive. I don't know why their pricing model is so high for a piece of software that could benefit so many. It just seems to me that they could have a lower cost, maybe with fewer features or whatever, but it should be possible to do a lower cost workflow software that uses the same interface and underlying engine but does not cost so much that you have to be a Fortune 50 company to buy it. It is annoying to me. There are a lot of solutions that IBM has that are really powerful but nobody can afford them. They know their business, but I still feel that there are a lot of customers who would benefit from this sort of thing. I don't know what this elitism is all about. I am sure they have people doing the money numbers, but it seems like you can make a lot more money by selling it to way more people for a little bit less."
  • "When considering the features of the solution the price is expensive compared to competitors."
  • "It's expensive. All software is always extremely high. The manufacturing cost that we have compared to the selling cost, it's not like you're building a house or building a car. But putting that aside, considering that it's expensive, it's a lot of money. If you compare it with some of the other alternatives in the market, it's a similar price. For instance, if you compare it with Pegasystems, it's a similar price."
  • "The price of the solution is fair for an enterprise solution that has both cloud and on-premise deployments and when comparing to competitors. Recently IBM has introduced Cloud Pak which allows for more flexible licensing options for automation and other features."
  • "Licensing is managed by the client, but we know it is yearly. Camunda is relatively cheaper. There is not much difference in pricing of IBM and PEGA. For large licensing, there are discounts as well."
  • "I already compared some solutions related to business process management, and I saw that the cost of IBM BPM is more expensive compared with that of Camunda, for example."
