Cost savings and efficient decompression but needs better cloud integration
Our primary use case for Arcserve UDP is its decompression feature, which helped us save money by reducing storage needs. Despite moving to cloud applications, we have been using Arcserve UDP for backup and disaster recovery Arcserve UDP has helped our organization save considerable amounts of…

Enhanced data retention and recovery with robust backup features
The Oracle Agent and Oracle RAC support are valuable features; they are crucial for taking backups and cloning applications. NetBackup Appliance has many features. Backup Exec is a great product as well. NetBackup is well-developed with strong features, including deduplication technology, which allows us to retain backups for longer periods—exceeding our expectations by keeping backups for almost a month. It's effective for data recovery and capable of handling large-scale data recoveries. It is very stable and keeps applications secure. However, the AI integration is not yet tested.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The ROI is very good because of the speed of the backup."
"The backup is the most valuable feature. It also makes storage very easy."
"It is a very stable solution...It is a scalable solution."
"Arcserve has a feature called virtual standby (VSB), which has been very helpful because I already have a hot standby copy of my critical infrastructure. If something breaks, I can spin up that virtual standby copy in less than five minutes and ensure that my data is available to everyone and that business continuity is maintained."
"The interface is very refined, works fine, and is very intuitive most of the time. Scalability is nice. The multi-tenancy feature is very welcome. The integration with Linux works fine too."
"The most valuable feature of Arcserve UDP is the initiative UI and the logs are clear and detailed that are generated when there has been an issue or failure on the user's system. We only have to log onto the client's system to retrieve the information. It is possible to precisely identify the problem's location. The system categorizes and logs every step in a structured manner, selectively displaying only the essential logs. However, to view a comprehensive log, one must access the line machine log and examine the actual client for detailed logging."
"The ease of use is the best feature of the product."
"The ability to switch between different hardware platforms and utilization tools are some of this solution's most valuable features."
"It is easy to use and the performance is good."
"The most valuable feature involves VMware Instant Recovery, which allows one to do restoration within seconds."
"Veritas NetBackup Appliance's most valuable feature is information backup."
"The most valuable feature of the Veritas NetBackup Appliance is the virtual machine backups."
"The policy-based backup feature is very helpful."
"Veritas NetBackup Appliance fairly covers our enterprise requirements and supports all our databases and operating systems."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is that it can be used in many different kinds of systems."
"The most valuable feature of Veritas NetBackup Appliance is duplication and covers many applications."

Cons

"Licensing can be quite difficult."
"Every time I change the disc, I have to do a full backup."
"They could work on their marketing approach. I don't see many people leveraging it."
"We have to use a Microsoft hypervisor for installation which is expensive."
"One area for improvement in Arcserve UDP is its capability to interact with other cloud servers."
"The technical support of the product is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"We are looking at scaling up to the cloud and using immutable copies on the cloud. Arcserve UDP 8.0 does have the immutable feature supporting AWS, but I'm looking for multi-cloud support. So, I'm waiting for Arcserve to release that in the next release."
"The solution can improve by allowing older versions to support the latest version of the OS."
"They could simplify the process of installing, and provide more space for data during the process."
"They need to make the licensing more clear. They should give all of the licensing details for the portals and be more clear. I have accidentally purchased the incorrect license because it's not clear."
"This solution has to have better integration with the cloud, as well as with other solutions such as Business Intelligence products."
"The product must improve its recovery features."
"The monitoring could be a bit better."
"More licensing options could be introduced to the software. It is currently based on capacity only. Compared to competitors, it is difficult to position it economically everywhere. From the usability point of view, they are making many improvements on new interfaces, the SaaS offering, etc."
"The tool's pricing is expensive and could be lower."
"The reporting feature can be improved."
