Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We are satisfied with Arcserve UDP. The most important feature that we use and why we choose this product is the RHA feature.""Arcserve has a feature called virtual standby (VSB), which has been very helpful because I already have a hot standby copy of my critical infrastructure. If something breaks, I can spin up that virtual standby copy in less than five minutes and ensure that my data is available to everyone and that business continuity is maintained.""The most valuable feature of Arcserve UDP is live replication.""One of the things that I do like about it is that it has a very good deduplication feature.""I would recommend it if there is a general case.""There are many backup options available in this solution. For example, you are able to do backups of servers, email, OST files, and users. This is a complete backup solution which is very good.""The standard backup and restore feature is most used."

"It is easy to use and the performance is good.""This is a good backup interconversion solution because all the masters and the targets backups are on the same system. It is easy to administrate for a single point of access for clients.""We find the pricing is reasonable.""The most valuable feature involves VMware Instant Recovery, which allows one to do restoration within seconds.""I personally find Veritas NetBackup Applicance hassle-free.""I can confidently say that I have managed more than 30 or 50 appliances over different time periods, and yet I never had a single hardware failure.""The solution uses minimal resources.""There are a lot of new features that operate to protect the data from ransomware attacks. They launched the Veritas/Appliances to protect our data. Veritas has been doing its job well."

Cons
"We are looking at scaling up to the cloud and using immutable copies on the cloud. Arcserve UDP 8.0 does have the immutable feature supporting AWS, but I'm looking for multi-cloud support. So, I'm waiting for Arcserve to release that in the next release.""The speed of restores should be improved. We have found the speed of large restores rather slow.""The solution can use a lot of bandwidth when the scheduling is not done, it should auto-schedule itself. For example, if there are 50 users connected in the network at 12 o'clock and the backup is not scheduled. At this time the network offices are going to have performance issues when it is doing a backup. Having a feature to auto-schedule a time when the network is not being used often would be beneficial.""Its interface can be improved. I find it unintuitive.""I had an issue with Arcserve UDP during the failover and the secondary machine didn't get back online, even though it ran automatically. I faced the issue during a crisis situation. However, I haven't faced such a problem again.""Arcserve UDP is in the middle range of complexity. The interface can be developed a little bit more to be user-friendly.""We could not go into granular details of retrieving backup information."

More Arcserve UDP Cons →

"Depending on the setup structure, it can be complex to implement.""The monitoring could be a bit better.""The price needs to be improved because it is really expensive.""The desirability of appliance solutions is dwindling in the marketplace.""The upgrade process of the solution needs to be improved since it is extremely complicated, especially without the benefit of a support person who can guide one through it.""NetBackup Appliance's pricing is reasonable, but it could be lower.""Feature-wise, it is quite good, but it is very costly. Its price has gone up quite significantly over the years, and that makes people like us look at alternatives.""Veritas NetBackup would benefit from better explained error codes."
