Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
"Appian's most valuable feature is that we can create end-to-end process workflows with minimum turnaround.""The initial setup is easy.""The solution's most valuable features are the regular periodic and quarterly updates, they are very useful updates. They keep improving the solution more often, and that helps the platform or code always be up to date with the latest features.""The product has a very good mobile app.""Good workflow engines that bridge the gaps of processes.""It has very flexible adaptation and the ability to save and automate processes.""It provides us with real-time data on all connected systems in terms of how they're integrated with each other and how they are performing in a workflow manner.""It's heavy on business processing in terms of logic, process workflows, and primarily on the process design modeler. Appian is really great at that. In terms of the full stack set from a low-code platform perspective, it's definitely an eye opener since it can be deployed via mobile app and on the web as well."

"The most valuable features of this solution are automation, ease of billing processes with the process net, and low to no code development.""It's a growing tool that offers a complete package of BPM, case management, and capture capabilities.""Data extraction and auto-classification are great features.""Kofax TotalAgility is a single package. They provide you with OCR capabilities, BPM capabilities, and case manager features.""Great with recognition providing a high level of confidence.""One feature I like is that it makes the matrix easy for an unstructured document.""Kofax TotalAgility is a great design tool for reading handwritten invoices.""It's not so complex to design what you need to."

"The graphical user interface could be easier to use. It should be simplified.""There could be a scope of enhancement for capturing the variety of use cases.""Appian could improve their customer-facing initiatives.""Authoring tool is slow to use resulted in limitations on how quickly solutions can be built.""Lacks integration with other products.""We'd like improved functionality for testing new devices.""There are four areas I believe Appian could improve in. The first is a seamless contact center integration. Appian does not have a contact center feature. The second is advanced features in RPA. The third would be chatbot and email bot integration—while Appian comes with chatbot and email bot, it's not as mature as it should be, compared to the competition. The fourth area would be next best action, since there is not much of this sort of feature in Appian. These are all features which competitors' products have, and in a mature manner, whereas Appian lacks on these four areas. I see customers who are moving from Appian to Pega because these features are not in Appian.""One room for improvement is the ease of UI UX development, like in OutSystems and Mendix."

More Appian Cons →

"Kofax should improve its handwritten extractions.""Kofax TotalAgility is quite vast and complex as a product. We came from Kofax Capture and Kofax Transformation, then we started learning Kofax TotalAgility, so there are a lot of things that were quite straightforward in the Kofax Capture and Kofax Transformation cross-motion modules, but to do those in Kofax TotalAgility was a bit more complex or quite long-winded and could be improved. In the next release of Kofax TotalAgility, it would be good to have a straightforward low-code or no-code process because there were instances we struggled with having to put logic into a script or a .NET script, then calling that script, instead of the process being low-code, no-code.""The one thing I would like to see more of right now: is a simplified form creation. That would be the most significant improvement I would like to see in their product.""Sometimes there isn't enough accuracy when it comes to extracts.""It’s not truly low code yet, as every two or three projects, you will have a situation where you have to go behind the essential things. You will definitely still need to customize.""Kofax needs to improve the low-code or citizen developers.""Lacks sufficient inbuilt features.""There needs to be more accessible certification and better pricing."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It's an enterprise tool and can be used by enterprise only. So it's a very expensive tool."
  • "The licensing will be on a monthly basis. We are estimating that cost to be around $2000 to maybe $3,000 per month. We don't foresee any costs above that."
  • "The pricing can be a little confusing to customers."
  • "The price of this solution is a little high here in Mongolia."
  • "The license is a bit expensive and the pricing model is sometimes confusing for new users or business users. It is difficult for them to know what volume of usage they will have to be able to purchase the best-suited license at the beginning."
  • "Appian is very flexible in their pricing. In general, Appian's pricing is much, much lower when compared to competition like Pega or other products. Appian also has a flexible licensing model across geographies. Pega usually goes with a single licensing cost—which is a US-based cost—for all global customers, and it's costly. Whereas Appian has a different regional licensing cost model and it can be cheaper, depending on geography. So Appian's licensing is very flexible, and cheaper when compared to other competition."
  • "You can't really test the software properly without actually buying the license first."
  • "More flexibility in the licensing model is still needed because initially there were customers who are looking at only one or two use cases of business areas, but now the business areas are changing and there is a larger scope. One license model may not fit everyone. They need to be a little more flexible on the licensing model."

  • "It is slightly more expensive than other tools."
  • "Kofax TotalAgility is very expensive."

    Reviews from Real Users

Kofax TotalAgility’s cutting-edge intelligent process automation platform stands out among the many similar products offered by its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are the general wealth of features that are already built into the product when it is initially deployed and its optical character recognition (OCR) engine. Kofax TotalAgility provides users with the ability to create, deploy, and manage workflows without requiring them to overly rely on other solutions. Kofax TotalAgility’s suite makes it possible for its users to keep their reliance on any other products to a minimum. Kofax TotalAgility’s OCR engine makes it easy for users to find data that might be buried deep within their systems. It saves users a great deal of time, streamlines their data search process, and makes it easy for them to make use of their data.

An enterprise service management consultant and Kofax developer at a technological services company writes, “There are also already a lot of built-in features, meaning you don't have to install and integrate many third-party plugins. It has a lot of its own stuff.”

He also writes, “Now it has an OCR, optical character recognition, engine where it can extract data from the document. You can deploy the CSV file and put it within Kofax, and then it'll search from the CSV file as well. For example, let's say you have a long list of names. It's integrated with scanners so it's easy to find the data you need.
