The support of this solution is great. The timeliness of their responses is crucial for me. When I raise an issue, I can count on receiving a prompt reply, eliminating the need for extensive online searches or phone calls. This efficiency is paramount in saving time. In the rare instances where problems arise, they are usually swiftly addressed.

Cisco Meraki Wireless is very powerful and very easy to manage. The solution is also integrating Cisco Catalyst Wireless products into their portfolio, and they are managing the Catalyst switches as well. The seamless roaming capabilities function well. I monitor network performance with Meraki's real-time analytics. The most useful metrics to my team are the internet performance metrics, as there is a lot of information in the dashboard that I can access. All auditing and event logs are centralized in the dashboard. When I need to apply to compliance requirements or other regulatory needs, I can have my auditing in one place, which is an advantage. I use Cisco Meraki Wireless's Layer 7 application traffic shaping with the MX and the Meraki MX Firewalls.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"With these three types, Alcatel-Lucent can give the client a range of solutions within budget of each, and still guarantee the quality of the solution."
"One feature that differentiates Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar from some other vendors is the fact that on-premise OmniVista licenses are perpetual."
"The initial setup is pretty straightforward."
"I have worked with different solutions in the past and switched to Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar because of its quick installation time. It requires no additional preparation. The product is highly stable. I rate it a nine out of ten. The support of this solution is great. The timeliness of their responses is crucial for me. When I raise an issue, I can count on receiving a prompt reply, eliminating the need for extensive online searches or phone calls."
"With the Captive portal to manage the Guest access is very easy, and with the Spectrum Analysis some very difficult radio issues can be solved with very little effort from my side."
"We are very satisfied with the performance."
"The solution allows you to see the SNMP packets, the DPI packets, and the SNMP server."
"The features aren't much different than those in Aruba, but deployment is easier to configure and the pricing is better."
"This is a product that we recommend over other similar ones by other vendors."
"The initial setup of Cisco Meraki Wireless LAN was very easy."
"The interface makes it easy to manage."
"The management console is valuable."
"The dashboard is the solution's most valuable feature."
"Integrating with the router, firewall, and Wireless Controller is advantageous."
"The most important feature is flexibility."
"Meraki is far and away much better for our needs."

Cons

"Simplification of the configuration processes and improvement of the maintenance software OmniVista 3600."
"I would prefer to have the integrated heat map feature provided by the basic controller in the Solution instead of purchasing an external one. Accessing this capability directly within the controller's access point would be convenient."
"It is not possible to integrate Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar with third-party software like Opera, a property management system (PMS)."
"The current implementation of our Guest Access network in isolation for Express mode is very complicated in comparison with leading market solutions."
"It needs to be faster in order to process and transmit bigger packets."
"Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar's radio management side could be improved."
"There are occasional OS bugs."
"Yes, some issues are related to firmware bugs or firmware instability."
"We would like to see Wi-Fi 6 support for devices sold in the Middle East, however, Meraki has introduced WiFi-6 where we would strategize our GTM plans for WiFi 6, where we would offer WiFi 6 to specific customers with extensive needs of high WiFi availability in KSA."
"It is expensive. Juniper seems to have a lot more to offer for future expansion. Juniper has some features that are not there in this solution."
"The technical support for Meraki needs improvements made to the waiting times."
"The customization needs to be improved because it's pretty locked down."
"It is expensive. Juniper seems to have a lot more to offer for future expansion."
"Initially, I liked some of the filtering features, but that's one of the components that we ran into problems with."
"Because it's so easy for the common person to use, it has become less desirable for people who know the technology."
"The licensing isn't very customer-centric. They may have improved it, but previously, if you forgot to pay on a certain day, your service would be shut off."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price is in the range of other brands like Cisco, maybe a little cheaper but you get the same features, facilities, and security. Licensing is something Alcatel is making changes to. A few years ago you would buy a WLAN solution from Alcatel for half the price of Cisco, but you would spend the same amount on licensing. Today this is different and the licensing is cheaper."
"It's pricey, but better than similar solutions."
"The tool is cost-effective, according to our sales team's feedback."
"We find the price comparable to other products on the market."
"Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar is a mid-range solution with respect to pricing."
"The price of this product is average and it is a one-time, perpetual license."
"At times, it appears that the solution's pricing is slightly higher. This makes it challenging to persuade customers who primarily focus on the price."
"Cisco Meraki Wireless LAN is an expensive solution."
"Cost could be better."
"The pricing is based on a subscription and is a bit high at the moment."
"When compared to other vendors, Cisco's pricing is higher."
"It is an expensive solution."
"It is expensive."
"We are on a SmartNet contract. All of our Cisco products are licensed under one contract. I do not think there are any additional costs."
"You have to renew your contract every year, or for three or for five years. If you do not pay right away they will suspend your subscription."
