Centralized authentication streamlines global access with single sign-on and auto-scaling for seamless user experience
We use Akamai Enterprise Application Access for centralized authentication for our global customers. It provides a solution for consolidated authentication on our platform. We use the service to manage access for our global consumers, not for remote access for our employees My favorite part of…

Unified cloud security has protected branches and remote users but needs broader integrations
I do not often communicate with the technical support of FortiSASE. I definitely use documentation officially provided by Fortinet for FortiSASE. My impression of this documentation is that it is quite similar and standard compared to other major security vendors such as Cisco or Palo Alto. At a high level, they deliver the intended information, but I still need their representatives, particularly sales engineers, to provide detailed explanations, as the documentation may not cover every area that all audiences might be looking for. I have no comment on whether the documentation should be improved to add more details, because if too many things are added to a white paper or data sheet, it can become messy. I am satisfied with the current arrangement.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We've had a good ROI from Application Access."
"The cost and the capability are great."
"My favorite part of the Akamai Enterprise Application Access service is its SSO and auto-scaling capabilities."
"The solution is very convenient and stable because you don't have to worry about attacks to public IPs or public networks."
"The capability of Akamai Enterprise Application Access is what you're looking for, it's giving you the service that you're looking for. It's simple and doesn't use an agent. It uses LCSD responders, and they have a lot of services around the globe. That's the reason that we were very interested in using it because it has a lot of coverage. This is because it's under the GDS umbrella."
"Application Access's most valuable feature is the accessibility of enterprise tech protection."
"FortiSASE can operate in a cloud environment with client certificates for authorizations and access control using features like PostCheck."
"I find Fortinet to be competitive with its firewalls."
"We utilize the web filtering part of FortiCASB for our network security."
"The most valuable aspect of Fortinet solutions, such as FortiSASE, is that it provides value for money; you can get all the benefits and values, not at the level of leaders such as Palo Alto, but for much lower prices."
"It's very stable."
"It is easy to integrate with Fortinet."
"This advantage is having the ability to create an SPA unit of FortiGate."
"Integration with Fortinet is very easy for me, and I face no issues in that aspect."

Cons

"The solution has two agents so should combine its enterprise application and security access into one agent."
"We need another approach to bring the solution to the cloud. In addition to Access Management, we would like to see if we can jump into Directories. I think ADs are going to go away and everything is going to be cloud-based and minimize the use of ADs because of the cost and some other dependencies to the cloud. Every time you buy AD it is more hardware, and everything's changing to software. The network's changing, the applications are changing, and for IT it is hard to keep up with it."
"The technical enablement sessions are quite limited, and Akamai could help by providing more of them."
"The pricing could be lower for Akamai Enterprise Application Access."
"If you provide enterprise services we have to stop telling the customers it's going to be per users or the transactions. That's not good for the customers, it's good for the vendors."
"The GUI and connectivity, along with the support offered, are some of the areas of concern in the product where improvements are required."
"They are trying to improve the features of FortiSASE, however, many FortiSASE gates still cannot connect. While connectivity from outside to inside is okay, inside to outside is not."
"I do not recommend FortiSASE for everyone."
"FortiSASE implementation is too complex where other products take two to three months or maximum four months to implement, FortiSASE took more than double that time."
"FortiSASE is an expensive product and the cost is indeed high."
"Security and support are two areas with certain shortcomings in the product where improvements are required."
"The current high-tech version of FortiSASE is not recommended due to its heavy loading."
"The product is expensive."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The license can be shared based on the number of active users."
"Licensing is based on user count."
"The price is great it is all-inclusive, they use an enterprise cost model. That's what we like compared to other users. This is one of the main attractions of Akamai Enterprise Application Access. It's already an enterprise cost model established with us for services."
"I rate the product price an eight on a scale of one to ten, where one is high price, and ten is low price."
"I rate the product's price a six on a scale of one to ten, where one is low price and ten is high price."
"I can only speak about the pricing for education users because we get discounts. Other users aren't going to get the same price, but FortiSASE is competitive with the other products out there. All the solutions came in at the same price, so it just came down to the product that works best for us."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing a three out of ten."
