Toad for Oracle Reviews

I used Toad for Oracle for two years when I was lead Oracle 10g database administrator, during which I worked on the Nigerian census 2006 results and migrated the database into the National Population Commission GeoPortal RDBMS database.

My main use case for Toad for Oracle involved writing codes to transfer test data from a test environment on a virtual server where an RDBMS 10g database instance was installed to try the data management and data behaviors of approximately 120 million records. I used Toad for Oracle for debugging, writing codes, troubleshooting, and running the codes to ensure everything was functioning correctly in the test environment before porting and migrating it into the production live environment.

I personally believe Toad for Oracle is a fantastic software for Oracle PL/SQL developers, giving developers the window with tools and the platform to write fantastic codes to link up with databases. I have nothing but praise for Toad for Oracle.

When I used Toad for Oracle, it gave me the opportunity to debug my codes, test-run them, and use an architectural algorithm masterpiece to review my codes and understand whenever the codes executed and found bugs, what happened, where it happened, and why it happened. That provided me with signposting and understanding of how to better structure my codes, improving my productivity, creative and critical thinking skills, time management on tasks, and providing an exceptional interface for Oracle PL/SQL developers. Toad for Oracle is a wonderful tool for Oracle PL/SQL developers and for Oracle database administrators.

The user interface of Toad for Oracle is excellent, and I love it the way it is, with no further challenges or comments for improvement.

Toad for Oracle helped save errors and reduce time for critical activities. It reduced the debugging of codes written to test data of up to 120 million records by approximately 75 percent.

I think Toad for Oracle should create an academy for training youngsters on how to code and debug using the Oracle PL/SQL extension plugin and make it more intuitive, probably using gamification, because people learn differently. Some are kinesthetic learners, some are audio learners, some are visual learners, and some are audio-visual learners. Having a gamification aspect on Toad for Oracle where it explains how to code, debug, and gives young starters or new starters confidence and understanding of what to do and how to do it would help ensure that those wanting to get into coding have that flair, making them able to engage with using it effectively.

I previously used SQL Server, which was standalone software per instance and not viable for solving debug problems related to big data of approximately 120 million records. My team faced many debugging challenges, but Toad for Oracle easily handles the scale and complexity of big data.

Before choosing Toad for Oracle, I evaluated SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL. My experience with SQL Server led me to believe Toad for Oracle was the best choice because it can be used on any database instance, not just Oracle, and its extended capabilities made it the right decision.

I think there needs to be more information and marketing improvements targeted at the audience to ensure Toad for Oracle becomes globally known. I believe it is one of the best tools in the market, but many people might not be aware of it. Enhanced sensitization, awareness, and marketing are necessary, especially among students in Information Technology and Computer Science, by providing free software licenses for projects to increase awareness about this outstanding product.

Toad for Oracle's scalability has not really kept up with my organization's growth or changing needs.

Scalability falls short for my organization because from a scalability perspective, the software sometimes seems bloated when installing it on a new machine, and it would be nice if we could reduce the amount of features we are actually installing and keep it streamlined for our current needs.

I have never had to call customer support for Toad for Oracle, so I cannot speak to that experience.

Toad for Oracle helps with troubleshooting application issues. My process involves identifying slow queries for performance issues, and Toad helps me find which SQL is consuming resources using Session Browser and SQL Monitor.

The best features in Toad for Oracle that I find useful are the Schema Browser and the SQL Editor.

Toad for Oracle could be improved by offering deeper support for Oracle Cloud or hybrid databases, as it is a mature tool.

The learning curve is steep for beginners, and the infrastructure is a bit complex.

Regarding Toad for Oracle's AI capabilities, governance and security are limited. It is not a fully AI-driven tool, but it does have some intelligent features such as SQL optimization suggestions.

The accuracy and reliability of Toad for Oracle's output have drawbacks. There is no AI assistant for natural language queries, no predictive analytics, and no anomaly detection, which means its AI capabilities are minimal compared to modern cloud database tools.

I am not an expert in details regarding Toad for Oracle, so I cannot really provide valuable information on areas for improvement. The pricing and licensing could be a minor improvement if licensing were cheaper, as I cannot tell you the actual price at the moment.

I have been working with Toad for Oracle for 15 years.

I would rate the stability for Toad for Oracle as a nine out of ten, and I did not have any complaints.

I would rate the scalability for Toad for Oracle as a nine out of ten. We are using the classic version in our environment, but I have heard that it is stable on large environments and I think it is also suitable for cloud-native applications.

I would rate Quest technical support as an eight out of ten. I am not sure if those in our team had any complaints or issues, but they are also familiar with Oracle and Quest is a good vendor, so I would give it an eight based on what I have heard.

I can compare Toad for Oracle with SQL Developer, which we are also using with our developers. SQL Developer has the benefit of being free, but for administration and DBA features, Toad for Oracle is better. Toad for Oracle is also better for schema and workflow. As we are really focused on the Oracle stack, this is our expertise.

I know that clients use Oracle Enterprise Manager, but it is more complex than Toad for Oracle. Enterprise Manager is more complex and better for monitoring, but for SQL development, Toad for Oracle is much better from my perspective.

The initial setup for Toad for Oracle is simple and I did not have any complaints. The installation and configuration is not too complex or complicated. We are doing it locally and not in a large enterprise environment, as our main task is local development, so the process is straightforward.

I recommend Toad for Oracle for development. Overall, I give Toad for Oracle a rating of nine out of ten because we have been using it for a really long time.

I'm using Toad for Oracle for administration of Oracle databases.

Two functions in Toad for Oracle are the most useful to me. One is Redo Log Manager, and the second one is Spotlight.

I use Oracle Advanced Optimization or Oracle Tuning Advisor in Toad for Oracle. I have automated many tasks and jobs through Toad for Oracle, and the automation part helps me save my daily time.

Toad for Oracle is very useful, and there is no need for formatting. It just shows data in the grid as expected and as I want. I don't have to go to the prompt if it's a Linux server or something and do some formatting to view the data in a good way. Toad makes this very simple and very quick.

Toad for Oracle makes the day-to-day actions easy and reduces some manual work for me. I don't have to do some commands to do whatever I want to do. I can just do it with Toad by a click. This is the most useful part of using Toad for Oracle.

Toad for Oracle is useful, but I believe it could be enhanced. I think Quest can consider involving AI or adding some plugin like cloud or something in Toad for Oracle. Optimizing the query or doing tuning advisor in a better way could be improved.

I have been working with Toad for Oracle since 2018 or 2019.

I can rate the stability of the product as seven out of ten. The biggest challenge I have with Toad for Oracle by Quest is that sometimes it freezes and is not responding.

Toad for Oracle is the most useful software that I can use for Oracle administration from my perspective. The others I don't prefer to use. I'm accustomed to Toad, and no other software has given me the benefit that Toad has.

The initial setup for Toad for Oracle is simple. There is no complexity to it.

I use Toad for Oracle daily. I haven't experienced data visualization in Toad for Oracle yet. I haven't experienced working with Toad for Oracle's code analysis yet, and I'm uncertain if code analysis helps improve code performance. I haven't integrated Toad for Oracle with version control solutions. My overall rating for this product is eight out of ten.

We use Toad for Oracle for various database management tasks, including CRUD operations such as create, replace, update, and delete, and for DDL and DML tasks. We rely on Toad for managing the data structure and monitoring connected users.

It would be beneficial if Toad for Oracle could incorporate OEM features, as having monitoring capabilities in the same interface would simplify workload and management tasks.

We have been using Toad for Oracle for the last ten years.

Toad for Oracle is quite stable and has not presented any major issues in the past ten years. It has been a reliable tool for database management.

Toad is a tool for connecting to the database and does not directly support scalability. It acts as a third-party connection to the databases and does not impact scalability directly.

An alternative to Toad for Oracle could be using SQL Developer, although it doesn't provide as many functionalities as Toad.

The initial setup is straightforward. Quest provides the software download and a license key. Once the license key is input, the service becomes active.

Toad for Oracle provides significant return on investment by improving query performance and reducing DBA workload.

The licensing cost for Toad for Oracle is relatively high, with their license and DPA suite totaling around five thousand dollars.

SQL Developer is another solution. It doesn't offer the extensive features of Toad for Oracle.

Toad for Oracle is a great choice to make database administration stress-free. It aids in revealing errors in SQL queries and guides developers to optimize them. It also provides rollback features for accidental bulk updates and helps in auto-optimizing query performance, which is crucial for reducing response times.

I'd rate the solution ten out of ten.

I use it for developing packages and procedures, as well as running queries. Additionally, I use it for monitoring the DBA setup.

One thing I can say is that it helps identify issues, especially with the Flashback component. In case of an issue, we're able to drill in and pinpoint where the issue is coming from.

It can easily point you to where you need to be looking.

The schema browser is the most valuable feature. The way it presents the objects in our database.

I think one area is being able to use shortcuts, for example, being able to press F5 to run a query or having the ability to seamlessly copy and paste.

Sometimes it works in some areas, but in others, it doesn't. Like when you copy, you find that it's blank and doesn't copy anything. So, there are some objects that do copy, and sometimes they don't.

In additional features, I would like maybe one for the integration with the ticketing system. For example, if a ticket is raised to resolve an issue, there should be something that I can click on to update the ticket when I'm done.

I have been using this solution since 2011. I am using version 13.

For its performance. So, it's already quite enough with its functions. I would rate stability a ten out of ten. I have not faced any issue with the solution. 

I would rate the scalability of this solution as nine. If you're using Oracle as a database, you can easily add on the additional components for scalability. It's really scalable. You can go to the support server or the prepaid option without any issues.

Around 10 to 20 users are using this solution. It is used daily in our organization. Database administrator and software developer are the key roles involved in using the software.

The customer service and support team is good. They have a responsive support team when you reach out. We mostly communicate through emails, and for specific support needs, we sometimes have to fill out a small form, like when we're transferring licenses to a new machine.

I'll give it a nine because the setup is really simple. You just click through the information, and it runs smoothly, and you're done.

We handled the deployment in-house. Only one person was required for the process. It took just a few minutes. It has an installer that we run on local machines. Once you run the installer, you're done. The whole process took less than 30 minutes.

For the deployment process, first, we downloaded the installer, then we ran the installation. After that, we applied the license key and set up the DB connections. Then, you are good to go. Other than bug fixes and support, maintenance is not really required.

It has really helped us pinpoint specific areas with issues, which has saved us time troubleshooting. I would rate the ROI around nine out of ten.

I would rate it six, where one is a low price, and ten is a high price. You just pay the fixed price. There are no additional costs. 

It's a good tool out there. I recommend it. Overall, I would rate the solution a nine out of ten. 

I am currently using Toad for Oracle for reporting purposes. In the past, I have used it for Oracle E-Business Suite Financials, and currently, I am using it for Oracle Cloud. While using Toad, I have also worked with SQL queries written in Java.

If I talk about my work-related tasks, using Toad for Oracle minimizes the time required for queries, and its performance is exceptional. I use it for Oracle reporting purposes.

The most valuable feature is performance tuning. It helps to screen time data and extract data which saves cost as compared to other tools. It improves performance and simplifies workflow which I am working on.

Sometimes when I write a query, it gives an unusual error code. Toad for Oracle does not have a particular resolution within the application. Then, I have to search for the code and find a solution. 

I would like Oracle to implement error codes so that we don't have to search for solutions on Google. It would be more convenient if the error codes were included within the application.

I have been using this solution for three years. I am using the latest version.

I contacted customer support for error codes. Overall, the technical support has been very good. They are prompt and professional, and they resolve issues on time.

I have experience using various web-based solutions for data analysis and reporting, such as Oracle Financial, SPW, and SDR for Oracle Cloud. However, these applications do not have query-writing capabilities in desktop-based software like Toad for Oracle.

The solution was implemented at the organizational level. It is not difficult to maintain the solution. It is very user-friendly, and anyone can streamline the data.

There has been an ROI.

Toad for Oracle has a relatively high cost compared to other similar tools. It is a costlier affair for anyone using Oracle products.

I recommend that one should have basic query writing skills or experience with SQL. Otherwise, Toad for Oracle has the functionality, and you can see the tutorials provided for running the program.

Overall, I would rate it a nine out of ten. So far, I'm satisfied with all the features, some of which are very good. In terms of performance and other aspects, the application is good.

I wouldn't say I am a heavy user of the solution since I was running only basic SQL queries. On the solution, SELECT statements and a couple of JOINs are the things I use.

At our company, we use Toad for Oracle to test data integrity. Since our data primarily resides on database servers, we need a reliable and sturdy tool for the job. Toad for Oracle has proven to be better than other tools since we have never experienced any crashes. We have noticed that other tools, such as Microsoft SQL Server, can take a while to execute queries, sometimes up to five minutes. However, we have not encountered this issue with Toad for Oracle.

Database connections and modules are the most valuable features of the solution.

An area where the solution could use some improvement is in terms of user-friendliness. During the initial setup phase, the solution was not very intuitive when attempting to establish connections.

If Toad for Oracle can visualize solution files similar to how Microsoft Visual Studio displays position files using Microsoft SQL Server and support its existing database querying capabilities, it would be a significant game-changer. Understanding the architecture of the database is crucial when testing a database and solution files.

Though I have experience with Toad for Oracle for six years, I have only been using it for the past four years. I can't recall the version that I am using presently.

I rate the solution's stability a nine on a scale of one to ten, where one is low and ten is high.

I rate the solution's scalability a seven on a scale where one is low, and ten is high. Also, around 20 people in my company are using the solution, and we do not have any plans to increase the usage of the solution.

Since I did not face any issues with the solution, I had no reason to contact the technical support team.

Previously, we were using IBM Data Studio in our company. We switched to Toad for Oracle because it was considered a reliable tool widely used by the other teams in our organization. We also received good feedback about this solution from the other teams using it. Owing to the aforementioned reasons, our team also chose Toad for Oracle.

The solution's initial setup was complex.

The deployment process for the solution was carried out in-house with the help of a development team consisting of seven developers.

The product's pricing is just right because if it were slightly higher, it would not have been as widely adopted as it currently is in our organization.

I want to tell others who plan to use the solution that it is a good solution if someone wants to start learning SQL queries since this is the solution with which I started. The only complex part is the solution's setup phase and establishing connections. However, once a person gets the hang of the solution, it becomes easier to use. Overall, I rate the solution an eight and a half out of ten.
