What is our primary use case?
The purpose of the storage is for virtualization. We implement VMware on hosts, and the storage systems are the block storage for our infrastructure. We use VMware or
Hyper-V hosts for their applications, which can include SAP and Microsoft Servers.
What is most valuable?
For me, the replication and dashboard are very important. It's very fast and simple to implement for us as a system integrator.
HPE Nimble Storage support is also very fast and very good.
What needs improvement?
It's a good product, but the implementation with the new systems is done via the cloud dashboard from HPE. I can't activate the system without a cloud connection, which is a bit laggy if I don't have the right firewall settings, making it take longer to implement the storage. It was better with the old systems, where I could install and activate without cloud connectivity.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have used the solution for six, seven, or eight years. Before, I worked with
Nimble before HPE bought it.
What was my experience with deployment of the solution?
I connect the system, go on the local website from the CLI, and start the setup process. After that, I go to the cloud dashboard from HPE and implement the system. Then, I go to the
Nimble system and start the setup process. The usual deployment takes fifteen minutes when everything including cabling and internet connectivity is okay.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I have not had any issues. In my time, I have had two hard disks fail, but no controller issues. It's very stable and works fine. Software upgrades are really good, with no issues. Support resolves problems normally within one or two hours, which is very good.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Scalability is nine out of ten. It's very easy to expand or change the system. It can adapt to our customers' needs very well.
How are customer service and support?
The support from HPE is ten out of ten. It's very good, and they are very fast in resolving any issues.

The initial setup rate is seven out of ten. It's rather straightforward when the cabling and internet connectivity are in place.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Other storage companies are very expensive, similar to HPE Storage. We choose HPE based on the know-how we have, which benefits our customers, as it often results in the best option for them.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
We choose HPE over other options like Pure or
NetApp, as we have extensive know-how with HPE.

We usually have meetings with customers to provide information and recommendations about the product. Overall, I rate
HPE Nimble Storage as nine out of ten.
