Easy to use and understand with multiple types of testing on offer
Pros and Cons
- "Technical support is helpful."
- "UI testing should be more in-depth."
What is our primary use case?
What is most valuable?
It is very easy to understand.
We can do a lot with it. Since this is a commercial tool, we can have more functionality in place.
It covers more things like ADI and APIs, et cetera.
Everything is in one place, right there, so you don't need to go anywhere. With one single tool, you have everything you need.
You can even test the UI as well.
The initial setup is very easy.
There is nice functionality under the Service Virtualization feature.
The solution is stable.
Technical support is helpful.
This product easily scales.
Parasoft actually provides very extensive coverage. For example, in SAP applications, we have various EDIs, and integrated development. That also is supported by Parasoft. In the market, we don't have many of the tools there to test those things. It's nice to be able to with this product.
What needs improvement?
UI testing should be more in-depth. Right now, they only have one feature: record and play. We need to have a bit more in terms of functionality. We hope they will improve on this in the future.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've been using the solution for more than eight years.

688,083 professionals have used our research since 2012.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution is stable and reliable. There are no bugs or glitches, and it doesn't crash or freeze.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The solution scales well. You can easily use it across multiple applications, and you can link it with your CI/CD pipeline.
We have 400 to 500 people using the solution. Most of them are associated with QA.
How are customer service and support?
This is a commercial tool, so they have very nice customer support. If you write any query to their system or if you send an email to them, you'll get a reply as soon as possible. They'll not take more than 24 hours to respond to you, so they're actually quite responsive and fast.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Neutral
How was the initial setup?
The solution offers a very simple, straightforward setup. You just need to install it and get a license. Once it is up and running, you can directly use all of its functionalities.
The initial setup was very fast and only took 15 to 20 minutes.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The price is average. It isn't overly expensive.
What other advice do I have?
We are a customer and end-user.
This is actually a very reliable tool. If a person is new and they don't know the coding, they can still start with this. You can, of course, write code. If you don't want to write code, you can also add validations. I'd recommend it to other companies, especially if they have a new or young team, as there isn't too much coding involved, and team members can easily train themselves in terms of how to use the product. It's easy to learn.
I'd rate the solution eight out of ten. In the single tool, you have different functionalities for testing different implementations, SOAP services, REST services, ADIs, and messages queues. You also have functional testing, performance testing, service virtualization, and data development. Everything is in a single tool. It's great.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Hybrid Cloud

Sr. Software Engineer at a tech services company with 10,001+ employees
Good API testing and RIT feature; clarity could be improved
Pros and Cons
- "Good write and read files which save execution inputs and outputs and can be stored locally."
- "From an automation point of view, it should have better clarity and be more user friendly."
What is our primary use case?
We are a large company based in India. The primary use case of this solution is for our REST architecture. Parasoft uses different languages like JSON, XML and SORBS. It's like an API testing tool and can be used for both automation and manual testing. We are customers of Parasoft and I'm a senior software engineer.
What is most valuable?
I like the write and read files which save execution inputs and outputs and can be stored in a local system. The solution also has a comparison feature that works well. Another good feature is the broad Rational Integration Tester and I like the API testing or microservice testing which is very cool. The solution has key store use for coding and decoding which is useful. You can also automate your request parameters in a broader view, which is great. You can take data from Excel, from tables, or from the database.
What needs improvement?
From an automation point of view, it should have better clarity and be more user friendly. Some aspects were difficult and therefore less useful for us, perhaps we lack the coding knowledge on that.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've been using this solution for about two years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The stability of the solution is very good.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
We haven't done much scaling, there are 40 people in my team using the solution and maybe another 10 throughout the company.
How was the initial setup?
The solution is installed in our system and requires setting up a workspace. There's no deployment process as such, it's just a matter of installing it.
What was our ROI?
I don't know how beneficial or how profitable the solution will be. I think that requires a long-term perspective.
What other advice do I have?
In general, this is a hassle free, user friendly tool and it doesn't require much knowledge if you're using the manual testing. Automated testing is also good but requires some knowledge in that field. It has some great features. It's a good tool compared to some of the other paid tools; input and output can be stored before extension and there is also a verification assessment that can be implemented by using some different methodologies inside the tool. If the licensing cost is suitable then I recommend this solution. If you have automation people with in-depth knowledge in coding that will be helpful.
I rate this solution a seven out of 10.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises

Software Engineer at Cadence Design Systems
Useful for automated SQA, certifications, but the summary reports could improve
Pros and Cons
- "We have seen a return on investment."
- "The summary reports could be improved."
What is our primary use case?
Our primary use case is for Driver and Firmware SQA. This is a pre-requirement for ASIL-certified SW component.
How has it helped my organization?
The tool is part of Automated Code Flow. It helps in SQA and Automotive Certification.
What is most valuable?
In-built rules and checks are very helpful in SW SQA.
What needs improvement?
The summary reports could be improved because sometimes it is not very concise. The waiver process can also be improved because Parasoft SQAtest doesn't have a method to waive off one rule. Additionally, adding some guidance on providing standard templates could be helpful for new engineers or in complexity reduction. It could be sustained in a better way because it currently just gives the number that is a level of looping or callings. Hence, if something can be improved to refactor the code, then it should be code restructuring and all the information that can be provided to look at the complexity of the code.
For how long have I used the solution?
We have been using this solution for approximately five years or more in our organization.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I rate stability an eight out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I rate scalability an eight out of ten.
How are customer service and support?
The customer service and support are satisfactory.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Neutral
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup was long but it was not complex. There were a lot of things we needed to do that took a long time. As a result, deployment took approximately six months.
What about the implementation team?
We implemented it with an in-house team.
What was our ROI?
We have seen a return on investment. It's in the right direction for code implementation to complexity reduction, and as a tool, it helps with reducing a lot of manual effort.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
There are no costs in addition to the standard licensing fees.
What other advice do I have?
I rate the solution a seven out of ten. The solution is good but the report generation system can be improved.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises
