McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention Reviews

We are working with McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention and Trellix products in our environment, but not all the products; we are using only the DLP product. We are using DLP and device control as the major use case.

We are using customizable policies in the product. Everything is fine regarding alerting and reporting features; we got a notification as well as we received the required events, and it is working well.

McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention is different; whatever the logs are there, they are available on the ePO, so we cannot directly integrate DLP to any third-party tool. We need to actually integrate the ePO itself to enable integration.

We are just restricting data to be uploaded, which is the best option that allows us to control organizational data, making it the biggest benefit for us in McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention. We are protecting data to be uploaded on third party URLs, which helps us meet our needs.

Sometimes there are some issues in the product itself; whenever they release a new version, vulnerabilities come into the picture, and we need to update the product to mitigate such issues. Sometimes there are communication issues between the agent and client, which happen whenever we are using agents, so you cannot blame any product vendor for this. This can happen anytime or every time; sometimes the version is stable, and there are no issues. The only issues I see are connected with agent clients' communication and occur sometimes after they release a new version.

Sometimes there are communication issues between the agent and client, which happen whenever we are using agents, so you cannot blame any product vendor for this.

I still have not found anything negative in McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention. I do not see any drawbacks for McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention. I am not looking at price perspective; actually, I am not aware of it. My overall rating for this product is nine out of ten.

I find unique value in McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention specifically in controlling the application from a DLP perspective; when a computer downloads a package, you can understand where it downloaded this package from, and you can create a policy regarding the source of the download. This is actually an important and valuable feature, specifically in enterprises where they download, upload, and export critical reports from their business applications.

I appreciate the customized policy features in McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention because we didn't find these features in other competing applications. This may be a requirement from business customers who have important or critical applications; they expect to understand that these are critical files because this is a critical application. This cannot be done although we are with Trellix or McAfee solution.

I see enhancement in reporting for McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention as a potential area of improvement to think from a data asset perspective, not from a policy perspective, and do more analysis regarding the user's perspective rather than the policy's perspective.

We have a shortage in integration capabilities with DRM solutions, such as Seclore, while it had been working before. Now, unfortunately, they stopped this integration, and they claim that this is from Seclore's side, but what happened before is not working today.

I would rate McAfee technical support as a seven.

The initial setup for McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention is somewhat complex, as it should work with email gateway and web gateway; this is complex and requires it to work in line, which is essential in the architecture. They have challenges in installing the solution on endpoints, so I believe it is a complex solution, not an easily implemented solution.

I rate the pricing for McAfee as competitive compared to other companies; they are in the same range, not a cheap product and not an expensive product.

The main competitors for McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention are Symantec DLP, renamed Broadcom, Forcepoint, and Digital Guardian.

In my opinion, the best solutions are between McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention and Digital Guardian.

Forcepoint and Symantec may be at the same level as McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention and Digital Guardian.

It is good for my clients to have that advanced analytics tool in McAfee, but actually in all DLPs, the reporting is not prepared adequately. We do more customization in the DLP until we have a suitable reporting solution regarding this subject for our customers; this is not a McAfee issue, it is all DLP solutions.

I do not have experience with granular control options nor do I understand it very thoroughly.

McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention works perfectly as a DLP solution. It is a matured and established solution that may have a shortage in applying AI, but it has good new approaches in data classification, built-in solution, and also re-architecture for the OCR solution inside the application. It is one of the best, if not the best solution in DLP that works effectively protecting the data, similar to a firewall for the data environment.

I am totally satisfied with the functionality of McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention, and my clients are also completely satisfied.

The real-time alerts and reporting tools in McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention work effectively, and we haven't faced any issues regarding that.

The analytics and ML features in McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention are working efficiently.

In the bank, there is a lot of confidential data. It is stored in various desktops and servers and over email also. We're using the solution to protect data and to block and prevent data leaks as well as to investigate the cause when something happens.

It's doing the job it was supposed to do. The DLP is a very versatile product. A lot of problems get addressed. 

There are good patches. It's continuously updated.

It's pretty straightforward to set up.

The product is largely stable. 

We can scale as needed. 

The pricing is good. They are quite competitive.

There is some fine-tuning needed, even once you define something. We need to do a lot of configuration. It would be easier if they made the configuration simpler, especially in the beginning. They need to give the user more choices and provide more guidance to help avoid problems later on.

We'd like some more built-in predictive analytics so we can be prepared for what might happen in the future. 

We did have some bandwidth issues during setup.

If your update fails, you may have stability issues.

We find it difficult to reach higher levels of support when we face larger issues. 

I've been using the solution for two years. 

By and large, the solution is stable. I would rate it 3.5 or four out of five in terms of stability. It is reliable, and the performance is good. As long as the updates go through, the stability is good. 

It's not an issue if you need to scale. It's not a problem at all. 

While they are knowledgeable, they are not very easily accessible. We need to book a call. Often, we'll first get someone with less experience. While the experts are great, their availability is not the best.

We've used Symantec as well as Bitlocker. With Microsoft Bitlocker, we aren't using DLP. We're only using endpoint encryption, which is a different thing. 

The setup is straightforward. However, we did have bandwidth issues. We have about 36,000 systems in our network and in some remote locations, and we found it difficult to maintain bandwidth. For certain endpoints, there were issues around operation and installation. However, for the most part, it was simple. Overall, I would rate the process a 4.5 out of five in terms of ease of implementation. 

The pricing is competitive. I'd rate it 4. 5 or five out of five in terms of affordability.

I did not look at any other products. 

I was a customer and end-user. I recently retired. 

I'd warn new users that the initial configuration will be challenging, and if they run into trouble, they should reach out to McAfee as soon as they can, as sometimes it takes a while to resolve things. 

I'd rate the solution eight out of ten. 

I am using McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention for personal endpoint protection security on my computer. The solution worked well in the previous company I used to work for.

The most valuable features of McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention are the DLP. The DLP, data loss prevention is the most important feature right now that users are looking for. 

When the user login into their system, this solution gives them full protection. The protection includes AD logins or other types of logins. If the user is downloading from the internet or any website it is all protected properly. There are alerts generated, and then it is returned if it is safe to go ahead. The files that are downloaded are scanned and will indicate if they are safe. The user is given a high level of confidence, which is a very good feature of the solution.

McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention there is always improvement to be made on features. Other companies are coming out with their DLP solutions, such as Microsoft and ClowdStrike which will give McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention competition to move forward.

I have been using McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention for approximately three years.

One of my clients has approximately 150 users using McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention.

The support from McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention is good. However, if they provided 24 hours a day seven days a week support that would be a helpful addition.

I have used other similar solutions prior to using McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention, such as Symantec and the others are not as good.

My advice to others is McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention is a good solution, it is expensive but if you look for a less expensive solution they are not ideal for the long term. MacAfee has a good roadmap ahead and they have added more features and have good support. I recommend this solution to others.

McAfee Total Protection is for my private use. It protects my computer at home from viruses.

What I like about McAfee Total Protection is that it's working. I also like that it doesn't require any specific knowledge to set up.

The licensing cost for McAfee Total Protection could be cheaper, but apart from that, I don't need anything else. The software has what I need.

I'm paying the license for McAfee Total Protection yearly. It could be cheaper, but it's fine.

Additionally, if there were features to suit multi-cloud environments it would be helpful. If the solution can intelligently identify which is important data for the organization and should not be released from the organization without authorization would be a benefit.

This is our data loss prevention tool. We install it in our AWS instances for our data.

If a user tries to copy from EC2 Instant to any other devices, it'll block the action. Or, if a user tries to upload any file from EC2 Instance to any block-listed URLs, it'll block that as well. It helps keeps our organization's data safe and protected. 

Everything in this DLP is great. It blocks everything. It ensures nothing is shared illegally.

The solution can scale.

The pricing is reasonable. 

In our environment, we need improved network security. We'll be getting DDoS attacks, brute force, or credential theft. These things we need to improve.

While McAfee will work in endpoints, when it comes to networks, it has not helped us. We have AWS GuardDuty and CloudTrail fro that. 

The initial setup is very complex. 

We've been using the solution for one year.

It is pretty stable. It could be better, though. I'd rate it six out of ten in terms of overall stability. 

The scalability is quite good. I would rate it nine out of ten in terms of ease of setup.  It really does its job with 100% satisfaction. I can rate nine out of ten, even though there are some glitches.

We have about 400 or more users on the solution. 

We plan to increase usage only if we increase members with the hiring cycle. 

We do get support from our reseller. We don't get support directly from McAfee. 

We did not previously use another product. this was the first product we deployed. 

I found the initial setup to be complex. If I rated it out of ten, it would be a four for ease of setup.

The deployment itself took one month. 

We had about five people involved in the initial setup process.

We are able to maintain the solution ourselves in-house. We have two people from IT handling maintenance duties.  

We had vendor support in the form of resellers that helped us set up everything.

We have seen a pretty decent ROI. I'd rate it nine out of ten overall in terms of the level of ROI we've received. 

The pricing is pretty reasonable. I'd rate the product eight out of ten in terms of affordability.

The main feature we are using it for is to control users so they don't exit information from the company. For example, we control the USB and the website so that people don't try to steal information.

The solution is deployed on-premises.

The most valuable feature right now is the user control.

Integration with other vendors could be improved. For example, with Chrome or Firefox. If they have updates, we will have some problems with DLP. The browser updates are causing breakdowns.

It's very stable. It's more stable than Symantec.

It's scalable. We have about 500 users, and we don't have any problem with that. I think for a bigger scale, it works very well.

I have also used Symantec.

The main difference is the price. Symantec is more expensive than McAfee. McAfee is more user friendly than Symantec. Also, you can receive updates from McAfee more conveniently than with Symantec. It takes time for Symantec to integrate with other vendors, but McAfee is usually fast.

Also, when your license with Symantec is finished, all of your features will be disabled. For example, after one year, if your license is expired, your DLP will not work, but McAfee is not like that. You have all the features, but you cannot receive updates.

Initial setup is very easy. I would rate it 4 out of 5.

We use a team of two people for maintenance.

It's not a cheap option.

Customers mainly use McAfee Total Data Loss Prevention to protect sensitive data on PCs, ATM machines, and email servers. It stops unauthorized data leaks, uses encryption for security, and enforces data rules on devices and networks. It also helps find sensitive info, handles data breaches, and ensures compliance. It is crucial for organizations to keep their data safe in different parts of their IT systems.

The most valuable feature is strong data leak prevention for data protection.

In terms of improvement, it could improve how it deals with solar data. It should be converted to Trellix as soon as possible. We currently don't fully understand Trelix, but we hope to gain a better understanding when they present it to our team. We are looking forward to their presentation, and we believe it will help us provide valuable feedback.

I have been using the solution for three months at my current company, but I have experience with clients using it for numerous years at my previous job.

The solution is scalable and most of our company's clients who use it are enterprise businesses. I would rate it an eight out of ten.

The initial setup is smooth, especially when handling data in Gmail. We typically collaborate with local IT partners who manage email services for our customers, which simplifies the process. It takes about a month and a half to implement the solution at a company with 2,000 users. For a smaller company with 20-50 users, it takes three to four days. The deployment process involves downloading the software, installing it on the servers, and then exploring its functionalities.
