What is our primary use case?
I use
ESET Endpoint Encryption to do endpoint encryption on all my laptops. That's essentially what I use it for.
What is most valuable?
I have used it in the past because it works quite well for encryption. It's better than trying to just use
BitLocker, which is a pain from a management standpoint. It works up to this point. My issue is that I need to roll it out on new machines, and I can't get the application to work correctly. It's encrypted at rest, so I can't use the data if I'm not logged in correctly into the laptop with the correct user credentials.
What needs improvement?
My problem is that there's a technical glitch and they don't have a fix for it. It's not working with the latest version of Windows, which is a problem. My hands are kind of tied.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've been using
ESET Endpoint Encryption for quite a few years, longer than it was an ESET product. I was using it when it was DESlock, before ESET took it over.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It has, up to this point, fit our scaling needs. I buy a number of seats, so it'll scale up to whatever I need it to be.
How are customer service and support?
I would rate it maybe a four. If I'm lucky, I get someone good, but most of the time, I go through a lot of hoops to get to someone with actual technical knowledge of the product.
Every time I talk to someone, I'm starting the conversation over, which doesn't help.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
BitLocker does that, and I could do BitLocker for free in theory, right? Since all my products are Microsoft. It's a pain to manage without running InTune, it becomes exponentially more difficult.
How was the initial setup?
I thought it was pretty straightforward. It wasn't the most difficult to get it going. So, it just all depends.
What was our ROI?
I wouldn't say there's a real ROI to this kind of application because it's kind of set it and forget it. It's there to protect our endpoints in case they're stolen or if someone tries to steal something off a hard drive.
What other advice do I have?
I would not recommend it at the moment because it's not working with the latest version of Windows, and that's a problem. I would probably give it a seven. Up until today, it's been a good product.
