Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

Seamless integration supports small teams with existing skills
The most valuable feature we've found with Veritas CloudPoint so far is the lack of a learning curve because the team was already familiar with all of the consoles and how to build policies. As they started to use it in Azure, they were able to continue doing things as they were used to doing them rather than having to learn a new tool. The efficiency gain we've experienced is that we were able to start deploying backup policies to Azure without having to learn a new tool, even though there are arguments about overhead and granularity if one uses native Azure backup tools compared to Veritas CloudPoint.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Simplified management"
"Veeam customer service and technical support have been fantastic."
"This product is user-friendly. The interface is easy to use."
"Its portability and being able to back up between different platforms are the most valuable features."
"Technical support is very effective; they respond quickly, faster than Dell."
"The solution is extremely user-friendly."
"My advice would be to go ahead with the implementation as I think it's the best product on market today for VMware ESXi disaster recovery."
"Most of the features that we can use with HPE products are directly integrated with the Veeam. This is very important for the customers to have only one pane of glass to manage the backups and also use the HPE products for the backups."
"The most valuable features are the indexing, the file-level restore, and the replications between regions."
"The initial setup is very easy and quite straightforward."
"The product is good for volume-level backups."
"I would rate Veritas CloudPoint a ten because it's done everything it says it'll do, and we've really not had many problems with it."

Cons

"Sometimes, rarely, there is a bug that prevents enabling the restore button, which is hectic."
"I only ever found one error. It was when we were doing a file copy job. After using it for ten minutes, it would slow down and cause a bottleneck error."
"I still miss some functionality and hope it will be added to VBR in the next releases"
"I don't really like the proprietary file system or file structure, I always prefer the most simple functionalities where I can define this server, this file, these folders, backing up for this target, etc."
"I do have a need ever so small to have the ability to backup physical servers, this is not something Veeam offers."
"This product is for virtual environments only, which means it cannot backup physical servers."
"Customer service needs improvement."
"Sometimes Veeam is not that effective when it comes to legacy environments."
"They are niche with the work that they do, but they should have more integration with NetBackup and the reporting is something they should be working towards improving."
"I don't care for the pricing or capacity license model from Veritas CloudPoint because there are cases where we back up the same data multiple times, yet we still owe from a capacity standpoint based on how much data is managed in our backups."
"The product needs to improve its file-level or granular-level backups."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I consider that the product's price falls under the middle range category."
"The pricing is on the higher side, so I think they have to think about the price. It's a stable product and there was no requirement to keep in touch with the support team, so the renewal license was too expensive."
"The price is affordable."
"For what it does, the price is acceptable."
"The price is quite fair."
"The license is a bit expensive."
"The product is not that expensive."
"The pricing is reasonable and falls within the average range."
"When comparing to other solutions, the price is at par."
