Backup has protected our office data and now restores individual emails while admins configure settings
Although Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 is a Backup as a Service, it should give slight leverage to the admins to do more of their own configurations. When it comes to Software as a Service, we do need to agree on certain things, as we do not have much control over the software. If Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 can improve, it would be better. It could be slightly better, but it is acceptable. As long as support is provided in a timely manner, it is good. I cannot tell it is fully bad or fully good. If I were to give a rating of one to five, I might give 3.5 to four. Rather than giving a help database, which is an ocean of information to search through ourselves, we should be able to open a ticket and have them guide us on how to do it. As an end-user, different levels of admins exist—a fresh admin and a more experienced admin. They need to encourage us to open a ticket quickly, and from there they should guide us straightforwardly with the steps to follow to achieve the desired outcome.

Seamless integration supports small teams with existing skills
The most valuable feature we've found with Veritas CloudPoint so far is the lack of a learning curve because the team was already familiar with all of the consoles and how to build policies. As they started to use it in Azure, they were able to continue doing things as they were used to doing them rather than having to learn a new tool. The efficiency gain we've experienced is that we were able to start deploying backup policies to Azure without having to learn a new tool, even though there are arguments about overhead and granularity if one uses native Azure backup tools compared to Veritas CloudPoint.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The initial setup is pretty straightforward."
"I believe the solution is very scalable. We can continuously add mailboxes and sites."
"The product offers good stability."
"Veeam Backup does backup and restore very well."
"I would rate my experience with the initial setup an eight out of ten, with ten being easy."
"Technical support in Veeam is good."
"The most valuable feature of Veeam Backup for Office 365 is the WAN accelerator. This feature allows for large amounts of data from one location to another. If the bandwidth in the environment is slow it makes the transfer slow but the WAN accelerator feature helps speed the transfer."
"The most valuable features of Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 are its intuitive interface, ease of use, and unlimited capacity for backup and restore."
"I would rate Veritas CloudPoint a ten because it's done everything it says it'll do, and we've really not had many problems with it."
"The most valuable features are the indexing, the file-level restore, and the replications between regions."
"The product is good for volume-level backups."

Cons

"It's hard to predict the usage on the storage. I need to make some estimates for customers in terms of how much storage will be needed on the cloud, and this is always tricky. It would be helpful if they could help us estimate storage or simplify the estimation portion."
"We tried to use Veeam for our DRP. It was complicated to use and did not help us with our DRP needs due to our internet connectivity at that time."
"We would like to have a single management console for all of our backups."
"The installation could always be a little bit easier. You do need to be a bit technical."
"It's a new product. It's not mature."
"Technical support could be improved."
"We attempted to use it for our DRP, however, we found it too expensive and complex, so we decided to use it just for backup."
"Some additional training materials would be helpful."
"They are niche with the work that they do, but they should have more integration with NetBackup and the reporting is something they should be working towards improving."
"I don't care for the pricing or capacity license model from Veritas CloudPoint because there are cases where we back up the same data multiple times, yet we still owe from a capacity standpoint based on how much data is managed in our backups."
"The product needs to improve its file-level or granular-level backups."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We are talking about a third party solution, so there is a licensing fee."
"I think it's a fair price. It's around $36 per user, so I think it's a fair price for our customers."
"From our perspective in South Africa, our biggest challenge is the exchange rate from the South African currency to the US dollar. This makes it a bit pricey for us. However, compared to other backup solutions available, I would rate the pricing at a nine out of ten. For the servers, features, and functionality you get, it's worth the money. Of course, we'd always prefer things to be cheaper, but we also understand that you have to pay for proper functionality. So overall, it's not badly priced at all."
"Veeam Backup for Office 365 is a low-priced solution, so it is scalable and is priced for the market, comparable to other solutions."
"It is not the cheapest solution in the market."
"It is an expensive product, and there is an additional cost involved in purchasing hardware. I rate the pricing an eight out of ten."
"I have a per-user license for the number of users and the mailboxes that I have."
"The cost of Veeam Backup for Office 365 is $19 for one mailbox."
"When comparing to other solutions, the price is at par."
