Simple and flexible backup solution
I mainly use Cloud Connect as a cloud backup repository Cloud Connect's best features are its simplicity, flexibility, and constantly-expanding options. I've been using Cloud Connect for about four years. We encountered some issues with stability at the beginning, but these were fixed after…

Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"While there are some complexities, Veeam tries to keep the product simple and offers a good knowledge base. It's quite structured, so you can easily take one subject and learn about it simply by reading through the documentation."
"Generally speaking about Veeam, as a vendor, from a technical support perspective, I've really enjoyed the fact that they have a really high response rate."
"I like this solution and recommend it to clients."
"It's a great product because it's great scalability and it scales out from small to big companies perfectly."
"In my opinion, the console or dashboard is the most valuable feature of this solution."
"It's a stable solution."
"I am happy with their support, they are fast, and their response is very good."
"A really good feature is backing up the emails of the company."
"I cannot speak highly enough of this product."
"It provides a real-time, holistic view of the performance of our environment."
"Veeam Backup & Replication is a scalable solution."
"It serves its intended purpose and it works well, it integrates very well, and I believe it is an excellent product for us."
"Backup and restore features are valuable."
"We've got customers all over the spectrum, and some customers do switch to Veeam because of its ease of use and its price point."
"A quick-working solution that is very user friendly."
"The most valuable feature is the internal recovery."

Cons

"The dashboard could be more intuitive."
"There are some issues with the cloud providers for Veeam Cloud Connect that do not support all the features."
"The bandwidth optimization needs to be improved and have better efficiency so that you send fewer amounts of data from one site to the other."
"We were interested in investing hundreds of thousands of dollars in VMware. VMware right now is one of the biggest solutions in the world, in terms of the IT environment. But for Cloud Connect it's not. I think they need the cloud version to reach more customers, to enable the cloud version to be used by more people."
"I would like to see more advanced training courses made available to cover complicated use cases."
"Doesn't back-up from KVM."
"Some of the features I'd like added to the solution would be coming up in version 12, so the only area for improvement I saw in Veeam Cloud Connect was the need to have more support for object storage."
"I also think the cost factor is a major issue for Veeam because it's a very expensive soluton especially when the client wants support for VMware."
"Its price is higher than other solutions and can be improved. They can also change the version of the software more often."
"Sometimes Veeam is not that effective when it comes to legacy environments."
"The Cloud version is not ready, they need maturity and ease of deployment in terms of management."
"We have problems with IOPS calculations real-time, uncontrollable IOPS of storage leads to storage infrastructure errors."
"Veeam needs to have more support for non-Windows systems and other databases."
"I would like to see the Veeam cloud solution and Microsoft Office 365 included all in one platform."
"It needs to be able to integrate with more storage vendors, especially IBM and Dell."
"If you do not use the standard software and you go with a third-party solution such as this one, it might not work the same. There is an integration issue I understand between the database standards."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing fee is on a monthly basis."
"The price of the solution could be cheaper. There are monthly or yearly subscription options available. The annual subscription tends to be cheaper."
"I think that this is one of the most cost-effective solutions."
"The licensing is MSP-based. It is connected to the portal, and you can deploy it to your end users as well."
"We are looking into how we can extend the license of this product."
"The pricing of Veeam Cloud Connect is good."
"The price of the solution is reasonable because of our good standing with the vendor."
"It's not the cheapest solution on the market but it's reliable, so we find it cost-effective."
"I don't pay for the solution, so I can't comment on the cost."
"Veeam Backup Replication can be quite expensive for Office 365 because its license is per user and not for the space that you use. You need one license for each user. If the user only uses a few files on one hard drive, you need a license to back up these files. It was better to have a license model, such as in the Cohesity solution. Cohesity has a license for a space that you use. It's more useful in this case because the license for backup data is on-premises is for CPU. The license is based on how many CPUs you have but it does not depend on how many users use the CPU."
"The price of Veeam Backup Replication has been increasing their price and my customers are asking why. They have CPU-based licenses and a Universal License, the prices should be reduced."
"For now, I think the pricing of Veeam ONE is quite okay for any of the infrastructures, especially for those who want a backup system and a tool that provides monitoring services."
"The solution is fairly priced. I rate the pricing a five out of ten."
"It is not expensive and I would rate it five out of ten."
"The price of Veeam Backup Replication is reasonable. It is not inexpensive nor is it expensive, it is in the middle range compared to other solutions. There can be additional costs for addons."
"The cost should be adressed."
