Simple and flexible backup solution
I mainly use Cloud Connect as a cloud backup repository Cloud Connect's best features are its simplicity, flexibility, and constantly-expanding options. I've been using Cloud Connect for about four years. We encountered some issues with stability at the beginning, but these were fixed after…

Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"In my opinion, the console or dashboard is the most valuable feature of this solution."
"Generally speaking about Veeam, as a vendor, from a technical support perspective, I've really enjoyed the fact that they have a really high response rate."
"Veeam Cloud Connect is used extensively, and there's a plan to increase its usage in the future."
"The best part about this solution is that it just works."
"The interesting part of the solution is that the customer does not have to invest in a second site to store their offsite backups."
"The deployment is quite simple. Users are generally happy because of the familiarity they have with the features. The solution offers good transparency for the end-user."
"The most valuable feature is the snapshot capability."
"The most valuable quality of Veeam Cloud Connect is its reliability."
"If you have Veeam Backup and Replication with the essential license then this solution is free."
"With Veeam Backup and Restore, things are so simple and efficient that you do not need to spend hours on end configuring the product."
"We were able to recover our investment on Veeam within about 8 months, largely due to reduced licensing costs initially but mainly from a reduction in the management overheads and the previous babysitting we had to do of our backup solution."
"Integration with VMware is excellent with very granular recovery."
"The most valuable feature is how reliable Veeam Backup is. It has the normal expected features that allow you to ensure that everything is backed up completely."
"The most valuable features are the backup and restoration of our VMs. Additionally, they add features regularly."
"The most valuable feature of Veeam Backup & Replication is that we can back up in-house and multiple cloud providers' storage."
"The most valuable feature is the internal recovery."

Cons

"The pricing is much higher than what our clients expect it to be."
"The flexibility results in more administrative GUI. The GUI needs improvement."
"Doesn't back-up from KVM."
"We need the solution to offer IT storage."
"The solution could improve the stability."
"The solution needs to be more scalable. There should be no reason to set up Veeam Cloud Connect and have 10 servers in order to have a cloud backup. The initial setup could be easier."
"Some of the features I'd like added to the solution would be coming up in version 12, so the only area for improvement I saw in Veeam Cloud Connect was the need to have more support for object storage."
"I think Veeam Cloud Connect could be more stable, scalable, and secure. I think better pricing is needed."
"Unfortunately, when one of my servers crashed, I instructed a colleague to delete the backup job, and he did. He accidentally deleted backup replication, however, and we learned that there is no chance for recovery once the backup is deleted."
"A backup and replication solution should be able to back up a system and do recovery very fast. Even though Veeam Backup & Replication is able to meet most of our needs, it would be better if they can make it faster for backup and restore."
"There are certain shortcomings associated with the virtualization infrastructure."
"Pricing can be improved."
"Veeam Data Platform should improve its air gap backup features."
"They could include better automation features for migrating VMs without further configuration for the product."
"I would like to see improvements in the GUI and in navigation."
"In the future, I would like to see better support for direct backup to tape."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of the solution could be cheaper. There are monthly or yearly subscription options available. The annual subscription tends to be cheaper."
"The licensing is MSP-based. It is connected to the portal, and you can deploy it to your end users as well."
"I think that this is one of the most cost-effective solutions."
"It's not the cheapest solution on the market but it's reliable, so we find it cost-effective."
"We are looking into how we can extend the license of this product."
"The pricing of Veeam Cloud Connect is good."
"The price of the solution is reasonable because of our good standing with the vendor."
"The licensing fee is on a monthly basis."
"Its price is reasonable for a big company or a big client. It is not too much. It is cheaper than VMware."
"For what it does, the price is acceptable."
"Since pricing is per socket, it is not expensive to add capacity as you go along."
"Veeam Data Platform's pricing is affordable."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"The cost is expensive. It will depend on how you are managing your environment, your requirements, and if you can easily manage a license. It's not that difficult, so you can manage it, but the cost is high, so you need to check directly with Veeam as well as the local partner so you can get the discount prices."
"I find the pricing to be okay."
"The price is great. It's software related, and I know that might be a good thing because it's a cheap solution to buy and we have been looking for a program for backup and they fit the bill."
