Offers centralized security management and flexibility
The improvements required in the product depend on how it is used, meaning it can be used for endpoint security or email and collaboration security. The web gateway is used along with anti-malware, advanced protection, URL filtering, application control, and data protection. I don't have any improvements to suggest in the tool as of now, and not at least for now, as per my security assessment. There are certain concerns with the product's stability, so it is an area where improvements are required.

Central console streamlines patch monitoring and device management effortlessly
WithSecure Elements Endpoint Protection is good and easy to set up. I provide an installation file for every client through my domain controller and GPO, and it works properly. We have faced no incidents with viruses or network breaches, and it's easy to monitor patches. I can use remote desktop from the central console. The solution also saves my time because, being the only one handling it, I can monitor all devices easily.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is a stable solution."
"The most useful feature is endpoint security."
"The scalability works well."
"Integrates easily with almost every third-party product"
"It is their most comprehensive endpoint protection solution. It includes DLP and Office 365. It also includes device control and the rest of the little bells and whistles that the traditional AV vendors have."
"We do get notifications, which are helpful."
"The most valuable features of Trend Micro Smart Protection are the email gateway and R & D which have contributed to their additional capability and development."
"The solution has multiple modules within a single agent deployment."
"We use the product for detecting network vulnerabilities and for software update purposes."
"WithSecure Elements Endpoint Protection is good and easy to set up."
"The most valuable features of WithSecure Elements Endpoint Protection are the clear useful portal and overall company protection."
"F-Secure is useful for keeping user machines up-to-date by pushing out security and critical updates."
"The notifications and patch management features are valuable."
"On the cloud management page, the solution scales up very highly."
"There is a layer of security to prevent a malicious agent (malware) from interrupting or stopping services, deleting or modifying registry entries or even stopping the antivirus from acting, ensuring that there will be no interruption of protection."
"Both incoming and outgoing traffic is protected."

Cons

"There are certain concerns with the product's stability, so it is an area where improvements are required."
"We found an issue on the server-side. Sometimes, it slows down the servers if you install it on the SQL."
"Trend Micro Smart Protection could improve automatic scanning because sometimes it pops up when I am doing my work. It would be helpful to have a feature to have it only automatically scan when the system is on standby mode. I would be able to be more efficient with my work. Additionally, security could improve."
"No online encryption or cloud services are available for the tool, so my company has to install it mostly in an on-premises environment. Encryption or cloud services need to be made available in the product."
"The solution should improve its mobile management solution."
"The solution could be more stable and secure."
"The only notable concern is the level of support in the particular region of Sri Lanka. Following events in the past two years, the quality of technical support has regrettably declined."
"Sometimes, the tool bases its actions on behaviour, and we lack a policy learning mechanism. If Trend Micro Smart Protection introduced an AI model, its protection capabilities would be enhanced. I used a different browser once, which may have prevented protection. Another time, our own ISP was added to the blacklist, and it took the support team two business days to resolve it."
"But the biggest one for us is patch management because this has been our top priority when looking at alternatives. Every solution needs to have patch management, if that's possible. It would cut costs on our side if that feature were included, so we don't need to pay for two separate pieces of software."
"There could be a dedicated security partner with essential knowledge."
"I would like the part of Hash Analysis by external sources to be improved."
"There is no technical support available in the Middle East."
"The program and cloud service management is in English. It's not a problem for me, however, it might be for users who don't speak English or use it regularly."
"The solution could improve by having more real-time responses. For example, when a license gets removed from a computer it does not update the records of the change. Additionally, when I installed Microsoft Windows Defender I was not able to send licenses through email to our tenants. The integration with other solutions could improve."
"Resource consumption is suboptimal and could be improved."
"One problem is that the solution takes too much RAM from the client."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is good compared to Symantec and McAfee."
"We pay for the solution on a yearly basis. We pay approximately 100 Euros a year per user. There are no additional fees above this."
"The product is not very expensive."
"This solution provides good value for the price."
"The solution is a little expensive. However, they can reduce the price for competition. There are different licensing models."
"The tool's licensing costs are yearly."
"In terms of licensing cost, it falls within the average range compared to competitors, almost 7 out of 10."
"A yearly price has to be paid. I rate the pricing an eight out of ten."
"We pay a yearly licensing fee of about €20 per computer."
"The product has average pricing."
"The price is comparable."
"The cost of the solution depends on the size of the company and where the licenses are being ordered from."
"If you purchase licenses in bulk the price of the licenses can decrease."
