Q&A Highlights
Question: Can I move Salesforce to Cloud Foundry without refactoring?
Answer: Salesforce Applications are developed in a low-code proprietary environment (i.e. a "comfortable/productive/expensive walled garden"). Cloud foundry is made to work with open-source apps/code (which is a completely different approach to software development). I don't know of any tools that could help you in this process and the most likely scenario is a complete refactoring of the Salesforce apps. If your problem is cost, there are ways to reduce licensing costs (negotiation with salesforce, changing the user types, make some functionality available in force.com sites, community portals, data integration with external apps, etc.).

Pros
"It's very flexible and offers tremendous features for customers.""The most valuable features are quick customization, solid deployment processes, and excellent reliability.""I'm not sure what the most valuable aspect of the solution is, but I can say that their finance and auditing systems are quite impressive. You can audit in different invoices right to procurement. It's all quite seamless.""A great platform to import, manage and save customer data.""The solution scales extremely well.""The presentation is clear and easy to comprehend.""The entire solution is very customizable and you are able to add many functionalities.""The solution provides a preferred method of backing up data."

"I can see activity per customer. I can find out quickly and easily who was the last person I talked to, when it was, and what we were talking about.""Salesforce highlights what are we selling in different regions and which regions or areas offer opportunities. We are able to view sales by month, quarter or year.""The user interface is pretty simple.""Different leads and fields can be utilized inside of Salesforce, using the Sales Path to follow those specific leads, and what leads convert over into opportunities. The leveraging of fields help to track progress on the user interface.""Salesforce helps up keep track of candidates.""The reporting features are useful.""Contact records are most valuable.""The most beneficial aspect of Salesforce Sales Cloud is my development life cycle will have been shortened."

Cons
"The solution offers upgrades at a slower pace. The solution needs to keep up with competitors.""Salesforce also did not integrate well with some of the other systems that we had.""When it switched to lightning, it threw me for a loop. When they changed the look and feel, I had a hard time finding things and doing what I used to do.""The reporting functionality is not very intuitive.""Salesforce introduces a lot of products and sometimes rebrands them, causing confusion. They acquire products like W and retain their names, creating confusion in the market. This confusion isn't related to the product's functionality but rather its positioning and rebranding. For instance, what was once known as Community Cloud is now referred to as Experience Cloud. This can be confusing for business leaders.""I want more analytics in the platform and the addition of AI-based models, for example, predictive feedback. The Salesforce Platform needs to be more intelligent and intuitive to make it a great solution.""Although the platform is already set up for you, there's a lot of customization that needs to be done, especially for any new component we start using. For whatever solution we wanted, we had to think for ourselves and design it all on our own. And, unfortunately, there were some components that were not really mature in the beginning, like Tableau for example.""Pricing is the biggest factor. The cost right now is too high and I've had a lot of clients leave."

More Salesforce Platform Cons →

"In the next release, I would like to see more integration.""The solution's design could be improved.""Its reporting capabilities can be improved. Its reporting interface should be improved to personalize reports.""I would like to see licensing fees reduced in the next release.""One area where the solution could improve is with handling feature requests.""If they could have convenient APIs into the other parts of the corporation that I wish to share data with, that would be helpful.""It does not include a professional accounting system, it is operations and it is CRM. It is not capable of accounting things.""The built-in functionality is a little dated."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Costly, but it is the top product in SaaS/PaaS. Pricing is more for large to enterprise level companies."
  • "Pricing and license differ and depend on how much license you are purchasing from them."
  • "It is an expensive program."
  • "The licensing is per user per month, which we took out a contract on a long time back. It's really an okay price for what solutions are available and for how many features and what kind of functionality you get."
  • "The solution is a bit expensive."
  • "It is expensive. Licensing is on an annual basis."
  • "It is quite expensive. Its developers come at a premium cost, which makes it expensive."
  • "It is expensive."
  • More Salesforce Platform Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The subscription is on a monthly basis."
  • "The main issue is the price. Because it's SaaS, you will have to pay on a monthly or yearly basis."
  • "It is a premium product, so it is not the cheapest solution. I think if it's implemented well, and you're getting the soft cost benefits, the efficiencies, it's justified. But not if you're looking at just apples for apples as a subscription, without the complexity that you can achieve. It can deal with complex business requirements. Some other CRMs can't. But you certainly pay, so it's a premium-charged solution. It's one of the more expensive ones."
  • "I have found Salesforce Sales Cloud to be expensive. However, it is the number one CRM solution in the world. It is worth the money."
  • "The main thing is it is costly. Salesforce it is not cheap, it's costly. Some of our customers say it is a costly solution. So, we have lost some sale opportunities regarding the high price. This is the main thing that we are facing. It is sales per user and the user price is about $150 per month, per user for the Enterprise Edition. The other edition is less than this, but it is costly. A company that has 70 or 80 users would pay more than $8,000 USD yearly because it is cloud based."
  • "My understanding is that Salesforce is a little bit expensive, but in terms of the efficiencies, automation, and visibility, I think it's definitely value for money."
  • "Implementation and add-ons may be additional costs."
  • "Being license based, the license varies by type. The pricing is considered average."
