Newcomers benefit from automation and user-friendly integration
PeopleSoft is affordable for existing customers only, not for new customers. The popularity is declining for several reasons. Resources are moving to cloud solutions such as Workday cloud. Even though it is the same Oracle environment, professionals are transitioning due to challenges in availability, scalability, and resource allocation. When there are limited hiring opportunities for a particular technology, professionals must consider switching technologies either internally within their organization or personally. If a project ends and someone is placed on bench without new opportunities, they often need to switch to technologies with more market demand. Currently, resources are frequently moving to other ERP systems such as Workday, SAP, Mulesoft, and Salesforce, as there are numerous ERP systems in the marketplace.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Our end process is going through multiple procure-to-pay systems, so the most valuable feature of PeopleSoft is the collaboration that it provides between our procurement/purchasing and accounts payable."
"The most valuable feature for us is the integration between the HR Payroll and Financials modules"
"PeopleSoft has been fairly reliable for us. We haven't had any issues with stability."
"The most valuable feature is that it's wide and broad and it does about everything anybody needs in a major organization from a back-office systems point of view."
"The most valuable feature is the module integration, which saves time through transclusion - using a single record across multiple modules."
"For example, any time you need to search information for any employee, you do not need to navigate through different screens and menus."
"The recruiting is most valuable. It saves time in having easy and fast applicants tracking as well as candidates' contact plus pipeline management."
"I think PeopleSoft is a good tool for HR administrators; it's easy to navigate compared to the other ERPs, the management of the tool is straightforward from the employee's perspective so the employee experience is good, and PeopleSoft is intuitive so no one needs to be taught how to use the system."
"Simple to use Easy setup Cloud-based Easy foundation setup (companies, locations, employee data, etc.) Employees can log in from any internet browser No local installation and support is required."
"Technical support is excellent."
"The ability to have a whole system with SilkRoad works well, as we can manage most of the functions of an HR department."

Cons

"Processing speed and user-friendliness."
"Regarding technical support, they often discourage using PeopleSoft and push for Oracle. Many support staff are offshore and don't understand the system well."
"The ease of integration needs improvement."
"The area that could be improved is the upgrade process, it's not the easiest. Oracle stopped supporting our version. So we have to move either to the cloud or work in a non-supported situation. That was certainly a disadvantage. That's also the reason why we decided not to stay with Oracle. Now we are moving to SAP."
"One of the areas that could improve is the capability of utilizing mobile for some of the self-service activities that are missing. They are running on the older platform. What is happening is people are focusing on the cloud. PeopleSoft is a good provider and should into the cloud. That could be an advantage for them. Customers would not have to go find another solution that is a completely different platform that has different functionality altogether."
"It requires more technical expertise to weed through code and see what’s happening behind the scenes to actually deliver a solution that the end user is happy with."
"Reports can definitely be improved."
"The reporting needs to be improved."
"I think the ATS should be able to auto-generate a decline letter when you move thru dispositions or when you close a requisition."
"The setup was straightforward while working with the implementation team. However, it was time consuming."
"The product is designed for smaller companies, so scalability is an issue."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It's approximately $3,000,000 to $4,000,000 USD per year."
"The expenses related to the solution are nominal."
"Mostly yearly payments are to be made toward licensing costs. It is not much of an expensive solution."
"Yearly payments are to be made toward the licensing costs of PeopleSoft. PeopleSoft is not very expensive, so I feel it is an affordable product."
"I don't know if they are still providing licenses or if they have suspending licenses."
"The solution is priced per module."
"We are a University and the cost and license are negotiated privately."
"Check all options before a decision is made."
