PALANTIR DATA ENGINEER at a healthcare company with 10,001+ employees
Unified healthcare pipelines have improved data trust and accelerated operational decisions
One challenge regarding how Palantir Foundry can be improved is the learning curve. Foundry has a very broad ecosystem with Ontology, Pipeline Builder, Code Repositories, and AI integrations. For new engineers or business users onboarding, it can take time, especially if they are coming from more traditional data platforms. Better documentation, simplified onboarding paths, and more beginner-friendly examples would help accelerate adoption. Another area is debugging complexity. While lineage and monitoring are strong features, troubleshooting deeply interconnected pipelines can still become difficult in a large enterprise environment. Sometimes error logs and pipeline failure messages could be more descriptive or developer-friendly, especially for distributed PySpark jobs. Another pain point is customization limitations in certain UI-driven components. While low-code tools are great for rapid development, highly customized workflows sometimes still require engineering workarounds or deeper technical implementation. The platform is extremely capable, but improvements around usability, debugging experience, DevOps flexibility, and ecosystem openness would make it even more effective for enterprise engineering teams.

Senior Lead Architect at a manufacturing company with 1,001-5,000 employees
Simplified integrations bring flexibility and efficiency to diverse industries through comprehensive features and robust support
SAP is already trying to make improvements for SAP Process Orchestration by releasing updates every quarter, including patches and modules, and from a security standpoint, while it's a tightly coupled tool, they are introducing a lot of enhancements aligned with current market trends. There are standard contents readily available for starting integrations, which suit around 90% of every industry across verticals including pharma, manufacturing, and employee data central with SuccessFactors integration. Regarding functionality-wise improvements in SAP Process Orchestration, they are now incorporating the Salesforce system. Previously, we needed to rely on a third-party adapter for integration within SAP, but now they are building their own adapters to connect with Salesforce. Additionally, there are options like data connectors using Ariba coming up with SAP Process Orchestration. There's much more to explore, especially as they release new patches, enhancements, and adapters each quarter.

Pros

"In terms of improvements, it helped us improve our data migration timelines by approximately 60 percent and improved the data accuracy and addressed the issues upfront by approximately 85 percent."
"Combining data sources and hosting models in Palantir Foundry has helped my work because it is convenient to work in one environment rather than moving from one application to another, as Palantir Foundry allows for that one-stop shop where I can accomplish much of the work."
"Palantir Foundry has improved with the generation of AI, and I think the governance and security are both good things to have in Palantir Foundry."
"Live video sessions enhance the available documentation and allow you to ask questions directly."
"Palantir Foundry is not just a data platform; it actually connects data engineering, analytics, operations, and decision-making all into one ecosystem."
"If I think of Foundry as being an implementation of Apache Spark and compare that to Databricks, it is easier for an organization to use Foundry."
"Compared to other SaaS tools, Palantir Foundry is definitely a time-saver, though I do not have specific metrics to share."
"Palantir Foundry has proven to be a great tool in terms of scalability for me, especially compared to Power BI, which felt inadequate, as its scalability depends on the Slate application and I am only limited by my imagination."
"The solution's technical support is good."
"SAP Process Orchestration is something that I recommend because it is a very high-quality product."
"SAP Process Orchestration offers easy maintainability and is a very flexible tool that easily adapts to any integration standards and artifacts that are readily available."

Cons

"However, Palantir Foundry's license fees comparative to others are quite high."
"However, I observe a potential drawback concerning market trends; as software becomes more accessible with individuals developing applications independently, there is a risk posed to Palantir Foundry, which combines multiple core functionalities."
"It requires a lot of manual work and is very time-consuming to get to a functional point."
"My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing for Palantir Foundry was challenging for us."
"There are still a lot of changes required in Palantir Foundry to make it more usable or easy to use."
"The theme is very monotonous and should be improved."

"The solution could use more online documentation for new users."
"Some configurations can be a little tricky."
"The user interface of SAP Process Orchestration should be more modern to enhance its appeal. It can seem complicated and outdated to new users."
"Process Orchestration doesn't provide authentication for data sent to us, meaning we have to rely on client certificate-based or basic authentication."
"SAP needs to improve a lot in terms of the orchestration part so that more adapters can be provided to users, which are areas where the solution has downsides."
"The product roadmap suggests it will approach the end of support in several years, and a lot of innovations are now implemented by SAP not in SAP PO, but in SAP Integration Suite, hence, the platform is stable, but doesn't receive a lot of new features in recent updates."
"It is scalable and it requires some maintenance."
"The solution could be more scalable."
"The usability, for example, is an area where it can be improved upon."
