We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"OpenScript has many features that make it useful, including the ability to record and playback.""We find the front-end interface of this solution to be very user-friendly, meaning easy navigation even for novice users.""The most valuable feature is the object identification feature.""Oracle Application Testing Suite's most valuable feature is it works very smoothly with all Oracle Java-based applications.""The solution is scalable.""We like that we don't need a separate management tool. This is a good feature. It also has an inbuilt performance tool which is on Flash. It has very good record and playback feature as well. The inspection tool is also very good. Overall, since it comes with all the three packages, it's very good.""Has good automation and load-testing capabilities.""The most valuable features are functional testing and the central repository that contains various scripts."

"One of the most valuable features is that we do not have to have the cross-platform testing vehicles in-house. Sauce Labs gives us the ability to test across platforms and that really helps give us confidence in our products.""Before implementing Sauce Labs, we tested physical devices that team members had to share. It was more feasible when we were all located in one office, but we couldn't leverage our offshore capacity. With this solution, we can do everything remotely, which is essential now that most of us work from home.""They update for the latest browsers and mobile phones and support a lot of combinations. They have 1,000-plus desktop combinations and browser versions, which is really great. We need that at Applause. The all-in-one testing suite aspect of it is really important because most of our clients prefer to go to one place.""It runs on the cloud, so you don't have physical setups to run all of this.""It has significantly enhanced our testing accuracy by approximately 50%.""The insights section provides a great overall state of the automation suite and can identify trends relatively quickly. If we see a dip in our passing rate over time, we can look at what changed when the test started failing to find the root cause rather than doing a quick fix to find that the test fails a short time later.""From an infrastructure support perspective, the number of VMs, browsers installations and versions that we would be maintaining without Sauce Labs would be a lot. This includes not only the infrastructure costs, but also the maintenance costs and people's time. The labor cost associated with maintaining all of that would be considerably high. In terms of efficiency, having concurrent VMs with various browser combinations available has allowed us to run multiple executions by all our teams.""The abundance of device, platform, and browser combinations/versions that can be used in parallel."

Cons
"The pathfinding at times is slow when we are using it. The tool's performance can be improved.""The dashboards need to be simplified and made more user-friendly.""I have faced issues with some indexing items.""If there's a feature we want in OATS that's missing and we report that to Oracle, it takes a long time.""We would like to see the instruction documentation made into video or audio formats, to help new users get used to the modules.""Lacks patches for new OS systems and doesn't work on a Mac.""Oracle Application Testing Suite could improve by offering desktop-based application automation. It is lacking in this area at the moment.""I would like to see better dashboards."

More Oracle Application Testing Suite Cons →

"User account management needs an overhauls, allowing for user groups rather than just a hierarchy structure.""Another feature that could still be improved on is more error clarity. Sometimes when running automated scripts the test will fail on the device side instead of the script and errors only show a 500 try again message instead of a detailed script that could of a been a timeout error from the code.""As a web product QA team, we sometimes need to spot check some new child site on multiple browsers and OS(es). It was a little time consuming for us since we need to click on each of the browser/OS combinations and start a new session to test. Every sprint, with new features and child pages being added, we mostly need to do the same steps over and over again.""Sauce Labs' dashboard could be improved by adding more filters and allowing more customization options. There was one instance where the dashboard on the Sauce Labs UI didn't meet our requirements, so we had to use the Sauce Labs API to create some apps and dashboards on our own. The API endpoints could be a little more robust and customizable.""There have been various times throughout the last month or so where the service has gone down during business hours.""The pricing model of Sauce Labs could be more flexible. Sauce Labs has just one price for the type of solution and a set number of devices. Other solutions have a fee for the base solution and an additional cost per device. If you're a smaller organization, you have to consider your needs. Some smaller companies still need to test various devices, so my advice is to start small and scale up as needed. We had initially planned to start big, but that would have been a big waste.""This product is not super scalable, because you have a very specific number of VMs that you can use.""They could improve the platform's customer support services."

    Reviews from Real Users

Sauce Labs is a solution that stands out when compared to many of its competitors. It has valuable features that include error logging, helpful dashboards, and its browser.

Joel A., Product Manager - Data & APIs at a marketing services firm, says, "The error logging is very robust. If we run a test through Sauce Labs and there's some sort of issue, a log will appear on the screen. Log messages are usually heinous and horrible... Sauce Labs is incredibly good at saying things like, 'Hey, here is the exact issue. Fix this and you can run the test.' That helps in getting things up and running and executing the way they should."

Savio D., Sr. IT Architect at a healthcare company, mentions, "Sauce Labs' dashboards contain multiple useful metrics in one place. Everything is represented to us visually on the dashboard, which helps us understand where to focus our attention, what the issues are, and what we need to resolve."

PeerSpot reviewer, Rob L., Director of Quality Assurance - Shared Service at a financial services firm, writes, “The most valuable feature for us is the browser. The most critical thing is that this software aligns with our Agile and DevOps way of doing things. It integrates with kickoff scripts through DevOps.”
