Flexibility in terms of customisation does come at the expense of ease of use. It is not the easiest system to manage from a system administrator point of view. Whilst obviously not unmanageable, you will need to develop expertise in teams to manage the back end of the system internally within the organisation.

I have just completed three assessments: one on inventory demand planning, another on using artificial intelligence to bring supplier contracts in portable document format directly into PeopleSoft. PeopleSoft works both internally as well as with third-party products that integrate seamlessly with PeopleSoft. PeopleSoft operates both from a need-to-know-only basis as well as being able at the same time to do group purchase and realize large quantity purchase discounts. My clients have used marketplaces, and it is really industry-specific whether they use one or not, or if there is even one available. I would rate this product nine out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The ability to create user defined screens, which are then reportable, allows us to capture specialised information that would not necessarily be considered core HR data for most organisations, and as a university, the ability to produce our HESA return using the dedicated module is invaluable."
"MyView is easy to configure, and Auto Enrolment is excellent as you can automate letters and templates."
"I would recommend ResourceLink and it is a highly customisable solution to any organisation, but they would need to employ a System Analyst to fully implement the system due to the size and complexities."
"The most valuable feature is IDE."
"All the features of the solution are integral to the functionality. Additionally, the navigation customization is beneficial."
"The most valuable features most important to me are the web solution, the web interface, and the integration with other ECM products."
"The customization and catering to our specific needs have helped, with obvious benefits as the streamlining process is accelerating and it aids me from an auditing perspective since it's all system-driven and cannot be altered."
"I'd like PeopleSoft to be like on the cloud and more mobile-friendly. If I try to access it from a cell phone, it's a bit difficult, so it would be great if PeopleSoft could improve these features."
"In general, this solution is user-friendly and also performs well."
"It's great for helping users deal with their supply chain."
"PeopleSoft HCM is a mature, flexible and robust product."

Cons

"Their product is not overly intuitive when setting up new processes, but MyView is very easy to use."
"Leave Management needs to be significantly enhanced and ACs need to be trained fully on the product."
"Customer service is questionable at best recently; we have experienced issues with patches and installation of additional modules, which has caused delays on some projects and meant senior managers of the school have had to be involved in escalating issues."
"Oracle PeopleSoft HCM is one of the most expensive systems in the HCM area, so if the organization has budget limitations, then I would not recommend this system."
"Data might get lost, for instance."
"The ease of integration needs improvement."
"I would like for the initial rollout process to be completed faster so that it can be implemented in a more efficient manner."
"The reporting needs to be improved."
"It requires more technical expertise to weed through code and see what’s happening behind the scenes to actually deliver a solution that the end user is happy with."
"They cannot go and get a report that easily."
"Reporting was our biggest challenge that was not "delivered" by PeopleSoft."

The pricing is customer-specific, so I am not generally privy to what the pricing for licensing is. However, generally, I think PeopleSoft is certainly cheaper than cloud solutions.
