Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We can manage the entire system across the network and troubleshoot the pain points.""The single dashboard is a valuable feature."

More Juniper Mist Premium Analytics Pros →

"It is the ability to collect data and analyze it, especially key performance indicators. This is before a customer would call to the service center to complain that they have had bad coverage or a dropped call.""It gives me the MOS, latency, and jitter.""Deep packet inspection is probably the strongest feature.""The most valuable feature of this solution is being able to drill down into any kind of troubles that are reported to us, by use of identifiers.""It is a scalable solution.""This solution provides us with increased visibility while conducting IT deployments. E.g., if we have devices which have overloaded or links which have saturated, then this tool tells us exactly what is going on with that link or device. Very few tools do it at this level for things like DDoS.""We've saved a lot of time in triaging. We have found root cause identities on packet captures and have been able to feed that information back to a specific vendor, because a lot of our technology is emerging. So, we're able to give that feedback to our vendors and have them solve the problems that they need to fix, and they have the evidence to do so.""We build application dashboards and performance indexes for locations."

"The solution's initial setup process was straightforward...In terms of ROI, the solution is worth the money.""The solution is very easy to use.""The most valuable aspect of the solution was the ability to see how the connection quality is between the sites and get an alert if it was turning bad.""From our perspective, ThousandEyes stands out as an invaluable tool because of its deep and extensive capabilities.""The most valuable feature of ThousandEyes is user-friendliness. It has been essential for us to have a solution that is easy to use.""It's fairly easy to set up.""The company provides excellent service.""The installation process is not hard at all."

Cons
"The technical support needs improvement.""The Wi-Fi side needs improvement."

More Juniper Mist Premium Analytics Cons →

"The solution is not easy to install.""A lot of tools highlight what's going on but they don't actually pinpoint the user experience. It would be good if there were a small message or something highlighting what the user experience is like and any degradation that's actually occurring.""We would like more encryption of customer data, because we have a very security conscious company. We have a lot of regulation coming in which requires us to make customer data private.""This is a typical thing, but every time they do a major code upgrade, we get hit with some nasty bugs. Some of them literally stop the whole platform from collecting traffic data. They should really do more Q&A on the software stability before release.""NG1 has been stable for a while in our environment - at least we have what we needed. But with nBA, there's a lot of room for improvement.""I would like to see improvement in the user experience. It's hard to manage it. We need a dedicated, highly-qualified person, compared to similar tools. Obviously, it's in a higher bracket, salary-wise. That's something the NETSCOUT team needs to focus on. It's a completely niche-skill technology, where we need to have the skills to manage, maintain, and deploy it.""Maybe the optics cost could be improved. It's not about the product itself, but the optics cost from other companies is very high, which affects the business. When you buy a $1 million product, you shouldn't be expected to pay $500,000 for support. So, support, operation, and professional services are very expensive. It's the main weakness.""The current solution is not easy to scale, because it is an appliance-based solution. So, you have to swap everything out."

More NETSCOUT nGeniusONE Cons →

"ThousandEyes could improve the dashboards by adding more features.""The tool does not provide features for application-level monitoring.""It might be practical to extend monitoring capabilities to include network devices""Presently, it lacks the ability to integrate with other Cisco products.""The guest portal is hard to use.""I would like the product to offer more agility.""Once I fully use the tool 100%, I'm sure I would have something to critique, however, for now, I'm happy with it.""It would be nice if the solution covered other areas like server monitoring."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "If you are able and you are willing to use everything that Netscout provides to you, it's probably a relatively fair price. The problem is that it's such a large and such a complex tool that I'm not sure that many companies would be able to use it entirely, the way it's expected to be used."
  • "Like any company, we always want better pricing. The pricing is okay, but it's not a cheap solution. When you want to deploy it across an enterprise as large as ours, you go into seven figures. It's not a cheap solution to get out there."
  • "Their pricing is very competitive with other solutions... But what I like about NETSCOUT's licensing is that it's shared across all their platforms. They don't create a new licensing scheme for every one of their products. So for nGeniusONE, you buy a certain license level, and it works on all of their products."
  • "Cost is probably the biggest drawback. Compared to some of the newer vendors that have popped up in the space, it's definitely more on the expensive side... [But] it's been able to keep its value, even in the face of the cheaper competition."
  • "The biggest problem we have with this product is the expense."
  • "It can be expensive, but if you have a good configuration, based on what you are looking for, it's okay, it's manageable."
  • "It is very expensive, but it's well worth the money."
  • "It is a little overall pricey and expensive, but you get what you pay for."
  • More NETSCOUT nGeniusONE Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "In our company, we incur a yearly expense in our company for the licensing part. I rate the solution's pricing a seven out of ten since it is expensive."
  • "It is a quite expensive solution."
  • "The solution is cheap."

ThousandEyes is a Network Intelligence platform that delivers visibility into every network an organization relies on, whether public or private. ThousandEyes enables users to optimize application delivery, end-user experience and ongoing infrastructure investments.

With cloud, enterprises can innovate much faster, but the growing number of cloud and SaaS applications means that more apps are being delivered over the Internet. This increases dependence on the Internet, a public “best effort” network, and other third-party infrastructures, substantially reducing the ability of IT teams to predict, visualize and control operational behavior. This results in a chaotic and unmanageable IT environment, making issue resolution a time-consuming ordeal, potentially impacting reputation and revenue. ThousandEyes has innovated an approach based on an unmatched distribution of smart agents across the Internet and enterprise, providing visibility all the way to the end user. ThousandEyes gathers and analyzes massive volumes of Network Intelligence data from all of these vantage points, enabling organizations to solve even their most obscure performance problems in minutes. By using ThousandEyes in the planning and testing phases of cloud adoption, customers can also strategically identify and fix underlying problems before production deployment of business-critical applications.

The ThousandEyes solution is ubiquitous across industry sectors, and since launching in mid-2013, customers have come from a diverse set of industry sectors, which include Silicon Valley technology companies, financial services, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, retail, manufacturing and education.
