Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Microsoft Dynamics NAV is good for smaller-sized companies.""Microsoft Dynamics NAV is brilliant and it's a different segment when comparing it with Dynamics AX. Dynamics AX is a larger product with much more features and it's aimed at a different segment of the market.""It is easy to use, and it works very well for small-scale companies.""Microsoft Dynamics NAV's most valuable feature is the integration with other Microsoft solutions.""All of the features are valuable, depending on where you implement them. I've done implementations in 60 countries, across 86 different companies and groups, and each company has a different reason for why they want to use it. Every single feature that I've implemented has been successful, and for some companies, where they didn't use the functionality, they have moved to external products or they've integrated into other applications.""I have found the flexibility to be very valuable. It's highly flexible, and at least for us, it has been effective. It is also highly functional.""The most important feature of Microsoft Dynamics NAV is that it lets us centralize all our information so that we don't need to rely on any other software outside of Microsoft.""The customer support is good. The first level of support agent in every case was able to solve the problem very quickly."

"Oracle E-Business Suite improves forecast accuracy, reduces costs, and increases manufacturing capacity.""The solution is perfect for big industry and high-scale e-business transactions.""The most valuable feature is the integration between accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and budgeting.""It can easily be developed into an application.""I like that one system covers everything.""You can group them into the BIs, which is business intelligence. You get your own key performance indicators and build your own reports or you could have your own screens, and it changes in real time.""The most valuable features of the Oracle E-Business Suite are best practices, built-in processes, and easy configuration. Plenty of system functionality and customization.""Flexible to set up an organization with multiple locations."

Cons
"In Thailand, the support here could be better. The process to get an answer is too long.""It would be nice if the integration process was easier.""If Microsoft made some of the security setups a little easier to work with, that would be a significant improvement. The warehouse management features could also use some work. We had to buy third-party software to make NAV's warehouse management and security more usable and functional.""Any request that had come from the website had to go through an e-form which was then plugged into Microsoft Dynamics NAV. There was no direct data capture. That was the pain point, where clients had to build e-forms, and that caused delays in transactions and getting information.""The solution is not best suited for larger-scale businesses.""Customization and costs could be improved.""The performance and virtual machine backup is not good with this solution and need improvements.""In the next release, I would like to see a quality check module - Navision doesn't have one, and the industry very much requires it."

More Microsoft Dynamics NAV Cons →

"E-Business Suite's user experience and interface could be improved.""The system alerts could be improved.""The reporting needs to be improved.""In the future, Oracle E-Business Suite could improve by having a better UI. Competitors are providing much better interfaces.""The on-premises version of this solution can be difficult to expand, compared to its cloud version. The on-premises version is also more limited, versus the cloud version that has a lot of improvements. Maintaining this solution is also too costly.""I would like an end-to-end in terms of processes. There are different modules, however, there's not that end-to-end that we are looking for in terms of process automation.""The solution needs to be updated with modern technology as it currently runs on the Java platform, JWE, which is obsolete and requires you to need an API supported browser.""They don't have built-in bank integrations, which would be very helpful."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The first time we tried to buy the newest version, it was expensive."
  • "I have some subscription-based customer and a few customers who have perpetual licenses that hosted the application on the cloud."
  • "The price of the solution is reasonable."
  • "The price of the solution is reasonable."
  • "I think the pricing is the best; it's cost effective for sure."
  • "Microsoft Dynamics NAV has a pay-as-you-use payment model."
  • "NAV might be a little pricey for a small or medium-sized company, but all the solutions out there are."
  • "The cost is one of the benefits. If you don't want to go for the full-blown finance and operations, the pricing model is a lot cheaper and has now switched to being based on a per-user subscription. So, if it's on cloud, you now have an expense instead of a large CapEx. If it's on-prem, you obviously still have to continue with the licensing model that they have, but if you compare the features and functionality, in terms of the price that you pay, I find it's better than other products. My answer on the pricing would be slightly different, depending on the country you're in and the return on investment, based on the size of the company. It's well-priced internationally. I think the new model is priced even better because it's now subscription-based and, if you go for cloud, the return on investment is a lot quicker and if it's expense, you can cap it. If you do take the on-prem version, the licensing is still priced as what it used to be, so that would depend on what country you are in."

  • "Considering the market at the moment, Oracle needs to adjust the pricing of this solution."
  • "This product is more expensive if you compare it to SAP."
  • "The pricing of the solution is at about $700-$750 per year."
  • "Licensing and costing of Oracle EBS is very complex. We recommend to use a system integrator during the negotiation process since Oracle sales representatives sometime do not know the actual minimum requirements and may oversell the necessary licenses through ignorance."
  • "At our various customers, the software tends to pay for itself in less than two years."
  • "Licensing is on a yearly basis. There is an initial cost, and the standard fee is 22% per year."
  • "Oracle's licenses are not straightforward."
  • "The license is very expensive and I think that it needs to be cheaper to get a wider range of users or customers."

    Reviews from Real Users:

Kopano R., Freelancer at a tech services company, says, “What I found most valuable in Oracle E-Business Suite is the patching because it is straightforward. As long as you follow Oracle's best practices, you are able to finish the task of patching without a problem. I like that it's also easy to add products, e.g. if you want to add on financials, you can, or if you don't have financials, you can expand on that. I like that Oracle E-Business Suite is really scalable.”

Mohammed G., Senior Oracle Application Consultant at a comms service provider, writes, “Oracle E-Business Suite consists of a lot of streams, such as financial and HR processes of the enterprise companies. We are using most of the Oracle financial modules, and we have an Oracle stream, FI procurement stream, and HR streams, which have a lot of applications. Oracle E-Business Suite has over 20 different modules to choose from, it is comprehensive. Additionally, the integration is very good. “
