Helps reduce response time but has room to improve customization complexity
We are not working on simple standalone solutions like Kaspersky DDoS Protection or Hybrid Cloud Security. Once you understand Zabbix, then it is easy to customize those web pages and graphs for our customer use. It is fully automated to your requirements. Zabbix is working fine with no issues, and I am satisfied with it. We have combined Zabbix and SolarWinds. The integration works fine, and it is easy to integrate Zabbix with the IT environment. We were trying to purchase MDR (Managed Detection and Response), but we are not working on that. I don't have real experience with MDR. We are using Falcon software for that. We are working with Falcon Complete, not with Sandbox. We are not using Kaspersky for business or cloud protection. For that, we are using Zabbix CrowdStrike Falcon Complete solution. I have given this review an overall rating of 8.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is that it is easy to use."
"It is proactive in heading off failures that would be catastrophic to the business."
"It has a flexible, enterprise-scale monitoring system."
"It minimizes the duration of outages and gives specific alerts to localize the problem, providing proactivity to prevent mission-critical problems."
"A single pane of glass (one GUI to monitor health of the entire enterprise) is the holy grail of enterprise monitoring and management and HP Operations excellently provides that for applications, systems and networks."
"It supports efficiency and a speedy resolution of issues."
"Network Node Manager is good and so is Operations Manager, although they are a bit archaic now."
"It just makes it possible for the on-call tech to relax and wait for stuff to notify them of problems instead of having to, over the weekend, constantly sign in."
"The most valuable feature is that it provides network segregation for server monitoring."
"We use Zabbix to monitor our organization's IT infrastructure and workstations. We don't use Microsoft Intune since it's expensive. The tool's real-time alerting system has proved crucial for us, particularly when a new device joins a network that is not one of our own devices. It notifies us about the presence of this new device, allowing us to investigate further. Additionally, it alerts us about disk usage, memory usage, and the software installed on the machine."
"One of the real benefits is the API; you can do anything with an API, it makes life much easier."
"Zabbix is very easy to implement."
"The pricing of the product is reasonable."
"The solution is quite mature and very stable."
"The flexibility of taking monitoring data from such a wide variety of platforms - beyond traditional IT - makes Zabbix a highly flexible solution."
"The most valuable feature is monitoring."

Cons

"We would like to see support for more interfaces."
"Customer Service: Average. I feel that HP don't always look after their clients as well as they could post-sale."
"The products are not plug and play even though HP has improved implementation over the years."
"BSM/OMi is not stable. It takes time for event dashboard to refresh."
"The setup was more complex than it needed to be. It required modifications for our unique circumstances at the time."
"The product does take considerable care and feeding especially in the later case."
"With the new Operations Manager, it’s a sexier interface but it doesn’t lend itself as much to being robust."
"It is a bit expensive, but the benefit of this product compensates for its price."
"The GUI could be more intuitive. Also, we'd like streaming telemetry. Zabbix might have this feature, but I haven't seen it yet. It took us a long time to get started because the documentation isn't very descriptive. We had to go through various sources like YouTube and forums to get this solution working."
"The event correlation could be better. From day one, we're using the API to create tickets for our operations, however, the correlation is not good, not there."
"To improve Zabbix, adding more features to support the monitoring of modern workloads like containers would be beneficial."
"This is not a product that I recommend. Instead, I recommend using SolarWindows or ManageEngine for monitoring because there are more features on Zabbix with limited usability."
"The only issue I can note is that it's Linux-based, and Linux documentation is not the best."
"Multitenancy."
"Its UI should be improved. They did some improvements in version 5, but it could benefit from some more work. Its integrations should also be improved. They've been active for one year, and they seem to have noticed that. It has new integrations, but it could benefit from more integrations. As far as I know, there is no model to push statistics, metrics, or events towards Zabbix. This type of API isn't yet there, whereas some other tools provide an API for this."
"Correlation of events would be a wonderful addition."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"It's an open-source solution that can be used free of charge."
"This solution is completely open-source, so it is quite affordable."
"My manager is very happy because it doesn't cost anything."
"We are using the free, open-source version."
"It is a true open-source solution, so there are no licensing costs."
"There is no license but we need to pay for support."
"Zabbix is open-source so if one wishes to implement it in-house, they must have qualified professionals to set up and optimize databases, Linux/Unix OS, PHP, Apache, and depending on what is monitored, a full-stack network and systems administrator may be needed."
"The solution is free to use but they offer support as a paid service. If you can go read the manuals and do the fine-tuning based on your needs, you do not need to pay anything and you will have a full solution."

Nagios vs. Zabbix vs. PRTG vs. Spiceworks vs. Solarwinds Network Performance Monitor
I have researched a quite a few network monitoring tools which can be used for various monitoring purposes of not only the servers, but the intermediate routers as well. There are majorly three types of these softwares. Ones which are completely open-source, you can do almost anything you want…
