Affordable and provides visibility into what the users are doing with the data
The file integrity monitoring feature is difficult to manage because some files are confidential while others are not. We use a different tool to classify the files as confidential and non-confidential. The sensitive data discovery and classification features are not of much help. It is a difficult process. The controlling features must be improved. The interface must be improved.

Ensures seamless real-time alerts and smooth deployment with room for Linux functionality improvement
The licensing issue was eventually resolved by the team, but the Linux client issue persisted. Not all the policies applied to the Linux clients were as effective as those for Mac and Windows. That was somewhat of a downside for us. I cannot speak to whether they have improved this in the past two years. An area for improvement is that when a package is provided, there should be no additional elements required from the user's side. For instance, there is an activation key, and you have to specify the host where you need to redirect and fetch the license. That was disappointing when it comes to mass deployment.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The detection and alert features are valuable."
"The product’s strict policies are its best features."
"The product's most valuable feature is its ability to support Linux operating systems."
"When the implementation occurred, we were functional within a month, with no need for follow-up support."
"The most valuable feature is device control."
"This is a budget-friendly solution that covers all the aspects of host-level DLP."
"The role-based access features for the teams that administer it is good."
"In terms of the ease of deployment, the ease of management, and the ease of actually getting the basis of Endpoint Protector to move on, EPP is one of the easiest."
"I rate technical support as ten out of ten."
"The most valuable aspects of the solution is the device control, which manages any portable device connected to the endpoint, and content-aware protection, which controls data in motion from the endpoint to outside, like when users try to upload data to a web browser or an instant messaging application."

Cons

"The interface must be improved."
"The vendor must provide a cloud solution."
"Frankly speaking, I'm not happy with the product."
"CoSoSys Endpoint Protector's network-level DLP and integration with mail servers need improvement."
"It would be helpful to implement filtering mechanisms so that we can sort and view the data based on software and vendor, providing more clarity and ease in analysis."
"In Linux, it is difficult to control uninstallation. Users can uninstall it at any time, and we can only monitor that it is uninstalled."
"Endpoint Protector would be improved with more DLP templates."
"The policy engine could use a bit of work. It's somewhat lacking in terms of the granularity of the policies that you can create."
"I would rate the role-based access features for administrators a six out of ten. There's work to be done on the granularity of roles that can be assigned to an administrator but there is role-based administrator access present. That's why it's not a zero rating."
"When you want to uninstall and reinstall, there are a lot of issues. You have to do a lot of workarounds to reinstall Endpoint Protector. This is a major issue that we have constantly because we still have old systems with XP. While there are only very few, we need to run them because there are machines attached that only run on XP. When we need to uninstall and reinstall on XP or Windows 10, we have serious issues left in the Registry Editor everywhere. There is a lot of manual interference to get the reinstallation to work. For the uninstallation of Endpoint Protector, they need to work on this so it doesn't leave any leftovers behind."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is reasonable."
"We have a limited budget for our media section. When we purchased it last year, we migrated from a different solution to this solution, and at that time, they told us that the cost will remain the same, but this year, they increased the price by 20% or something like that. I am not sure about the exact price, but let's say from 8,000, it increased to 10,000. It was a huge gap, and we couldn't bear this cost because we have a limited budget. When we spoke to them, they understood our problem and reduced it to the same price that we had last year."
"The product has average pricing."
"The software comes with a higher price tag when compared to other DLP solutions."
"The pricing is reasonable for this particular market."
"The pricing is very competitive and is cheaper in comparison to that of other solutions. It makes it an easy decision to go with EPP for the data loss prevention infrastructure."
"I don't have any issue with the licensing and pricing. I would love for it to be cheaper, but at the same time I'm getting a lot from it."
"[The pricing] is reasonable compared to what's out there."
"This is a budget-friendly solution that covers all the aspects of host-level DLP."
