Integration capabilities and reporting functions enhance workflow efficiency
The primary issue I have observed is that when JD Edwards World is installed, it involves a shared architecture between the development, test, and production environments. This setup should be avoided. Additionally, Oracle should integrate some AI features into JD Edwards World but not rely entirely on AI due to potential disadvantages, such as increased electricity consumption impacting global warming. Improvements are also needed in tech support, specifically in response time and quality.

Implementation simplifies ERP management with comprehensive data integration and visibility
A lot of people would say the pricing. SAP is seen as quite expensive even now. It doesn't work for smaller or medium optimizations. The licensing and pricing could be looked at. In Brownfield migration, the trade-off between greenfield and brownfield means you either keep it clean or match the business requirements. Sometimes, it's not possible to do both. While ValixAPI provides significant support in making those decisions and the SAP consultant is very useful, we are still dependent on past history and how it was originally set up. I wouldn't call that a real disadvantage, yet more accessible consulting would be beneficial. Incorporating all other cloud products, like APO or IPP, into the S/4 house might also help.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I think JDE ERP is very flexible and very convenient for the users. I think EnterpriseOne is more convenient for users to do the inquiry and do the data entry. The UI is better than JDE World. For JDE products, including the World version, is very flexible. It's a good product for clients."
"The most valuable feature for me is the traceability customization, which allows me to track the movement and history of artifacts in our ecosystem."
"I rate JD Edwards World as an eight."
"The most valuable feature of JD Edwards World is its ease of use and unique functions."
"I like that JD Edwards World is perfect for my use cases, but what I like best about it is its navigation."
"JD Edwards World is a good ERP with high security from the application design."
"The pricing is okay. It's not overly expensive."
"In my use cases, JD Edwards World offers flexibility in listing capabilities."
"The most valuable feature is the perfect end-to-end integration."
"Provides SAP Fiori apps with numerous dashboards and KPIs"
"One of the most valuable features is the in-memory database."
"The use of a memory-based database makes it more efficient."
"The scalability of SAP S/4HANA is highly impressive, making it suitable for companies of all sizes."
"We can do a lot with S/4HANA, like HR, sales, distribution, production planning, quality management, transport management, and more."
"S4HANA is very scalable - we use it across seven or eight factories, and everything is running fine."
"I think SAP S/4HANA is one of the best in the market."

Cons

"The integration technology could be stronger at this point."
"I have more than 18 years of JDE experience in JDE EnterpriseOne and World versions. I think JDE is good but compared to SAP and Oracle EPS, we can see which area needs to have some improvement for JDE."
"Having tools that allow for small but fast adaptations of packages is crucial, as needing skilled programmers for every minor report or mask adaptation is a constraint my customers no longer favor."
"I would like report creation to be easier."
"The pricing for JD Edwards World could be more affordable so that it could be available to a broader audience. My clients want more analytics or data analysis features from JD Edwards World."
"Its end of life is already announced, so I don't expect lots of improvement coming from the product anywhere anymore."
"Improvements are needed in transitioning JD Edwards World to a more stable and reliable cloud product, particularly in terms of GDPR and data privacy compliance."
"The flexibility and ability to integrate external applications are increasingly vital."
"The product's use of resources could be improved, as it is quite intensive at the moment."
"There are some problems with the support provided for the solution, so it is not quite easy. It takes some time for them to offer us support."
"The initial setup was difficult."
"The tool's high cost is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"Extensions to SAP S/4HANA have room for improvement, especially in integration with low-code/no-code platforms. Creating these extensions through Fiori transactions is more tedious than customers would like. Although the SAP build process has become more linear, further improvements could provide a huge benefit."
"We are always looking for a better user experience. We would like to see more consolidation in SAP S4HANA because of all the financial compliance and regulatory changes."
"The product should improve its cost."
"I would like to see improvements in the graphical user interface and core modules in SAP S/4HANA. Even after 20 years, there haven't been developments in these areas. The purchase order, sales order, and core modules like CRM have remained unchanged. The financial data and modules have also stayed the same. Fiori is available but hasn't brought many changes to the core modules."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of JD Edwards World is reasonable. Since it is a legacy solution the price has been reduced."
"You have to pay for a license, and the license cost is calculated based on the number of users you have."
"The pricing for JD Edwards World could be more affordable."
"The price of the solution is reasonable but some modules can be expensive. When comparing SAP S4HANA to other solutions, such as Oracle, it is not expensive."
"It is an expensive solution. On a scale from one to five, with five being the most expensive, I would rate the price at four."
"I rate the pricing a ten on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is too expensive. It is an expensive tool."
"I have heard others saying that SAP is only for big companies that have money."
"The price could be lower."
"In Nigeria, we have to consider currency conversion rates with the Euro and Dollar that impact the final cost. But I believe that it'll be cheaper in the cloud where SAP has to do the maintenance of the server and more in the long run."
"There is a license to use this solution."
"People concerned about the costs need to evaluate whether implementing this system is profitable."
