Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Has improved analytics and reporting but needs better integration and support
To improve IBM Robotic Process Automation (RPA) for the next release, there should be more integration with external systems, and more integration with IBM's data and AI platforms is needed. There is an AI part in IBM Robotic Process Automation (RPA) for Machine Learning, but IBM has another platform specifically for data and AI, which is integrated right now. More features are hoped for in the future.

Frees up employee time but can't run when computer system is locked
Something that could be improved is that this solution can't run when the computer is locked, which meant we had to implement it in our own on-prem server as it never auto-locks. It would be better if, when we have scheduled a scenario, it would log into the system automatically.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is its easy to use."
"We can integration with other APIs, which is a good thing. This helps us with our database integration. For example, we have done an SAP integration, which is great, since SAP has a lot of manual work."
"Automation Anywhere has helped my company with APIs. We are currently in a project to create APIs for our core banking service and other transactional systems, migrating from another integration technology to API."
"It is easy to use and developer-friendly. The development time is very short. If any system needs to be changed or any functionality needs to be incorporated to any of the technology, it usually will be a long process, like months. With this innovative tool's automation, it is very dynamic, easy to develop, and deliver results quickly. With some of our use cases, we were able to deliver within the time frame of two to three weeks, which is the biggest plus with this tool."
"It has helped us to save a lot of FTEs for our solutions that we have provided to our companies. Suppose a job which was done by a group of eight to nine people on a daily basis for 24 hours was taking a lot of time, so we created a bot with Automation Anywhere. It was done with a bot working 24/7. It reduced the numbers of guys required to do that process."
"I have enjoyed using all the features of this tool, not just one feature, e.g., object cloning, Excel automation, and the web recorder."
"The Control Room for the bots and its ability to connect bots with APIs are the most valuable features."
"It is easy to use. It helps to reduce your man-hours and manual effort."
"The solution is scalability."
"It is a good tool for automation."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to automate mundane tasks. This improves efficiency, reliability, etc. You can form critical operations which can be highly automated."
"The solution's ease of use is its most valuable aspect."
"This product definitely helps with cost optimization and brings a lot of optimization to repetitive processes."
"Put IBM on top of your list because we have done the analysis."
"Deployment is done in a small amount of time."
"The quality is great! It's very strong and has a very strong platform."
"The tool's most valuable feature is data import. The OCR feature helps to recognize the data. It can recognize screen and document numbers well."
"This software is very smart - it can decide from a picture if we like that condition, and then the robot will do that action."
"NTT-AT WinActor has allowed our employees to focus on other things rather than the repetitive tasks that can now be given to the robot."

Cons

"The product needs to catch up to the promise of known technology and apply more intelligent behaviors concerning AI or unstructured learning."
"I would like them to add OCR features. This would help us deal with unstructured data and we can get more data out of images."
"The object cloning that exists cannot capture 80 percent of the objects that we need it to capture."
"It would be better to make it more user-friendly so that individuals with no experience can pick it up pretty quickly."
"One of the important drawbacks of Automation Anywhere is that it needs to be able to show the automated process as a single flowchart."
"The control room itself is easy to use. One area that could potentially be improved is adding additional widget capability within the main dashboard in the control room itself."
"The stability could be enhanced."
"It would be helpful if we could start running a process from a particular step."
"The time it takes for approvals, and risk analysis could be faster."
"The product's document readers must be improved to capture the data well."
"I would like to improve the efficiency of this solution and the Surface Level Agreement."
"The users should be allowed to create folders in Control Center."
"Needs better integration with artificial intelligence or with machine-learning."
"The pricing of IBM Robotic Process Automation (RPA) could be improved."
"We would like more focus on understanding AI and how it can be used to manage exception handling."
"Capturing GUI operations is very easy, but capturing IBM Logistics automation is hard. It does not always work with browsers or automotive applications like SAP."
"The OCR has issues recognizing handwritten data."
"Something that could be improved is that this solution can't run when the computer is locked, which meant we had to implement it in our own on-prem server as it never auto-locks."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Automation Anywhere is expensive."
"If I compare it with Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere is cheaper. Blue Prism is very costly. Automation Anywhere's pricing follows the market, not less and not more."
"We have a three-year contract with Automation Anywhere."
"Complaints are generally about the cost of IQ Bot, which is higher than its competitors. The base model’s pricing is comparable to other platforms with attended, unattended, and IDP capabilities as well."
"We have saved time and money using this solution."
"The licensing needs to be made simpler or shortened."
"I would like them to have better license management."
"The enterprise version is expensive for small businesses and individual users."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"The license is paid annually."
"I rate the pricing ten out of ten. So, the pricing is very good for me."
"IBM licensing is annual and based on Virtual Processor Cores (VPC). This provides flexibility as part of the containerization environment."
"The pricing is reasonable for this solution."
"The product is reasonably priced compared to other tools."
"There is a free trial for one month, so you can use it to run your payloads or proof of concept. After that, you can pay for the license on a monthly or annual basis."
"The product has a yearly licensing fee."
"We pay yearly for the agent who runs the processes, plus an additional fee for maintenance costs."
