Centralized device management has automated onboarding and improves remote security compliance
One thing I feel Microsoft Intune could improve is troubleshooting visibility. In many cases, when a policy or application deployment fails, the error messages are a bit generic. So, admins still spend time checking logs manually or testing on devices one by one. Compared to the simplicity of deployment, troubleshooting sometimes feels less mature. I also think reporting and real-time monitoring could be stronger. The dashboard gives useful information, but in large environments, many teams still depend on additional tools or scripts for deeper reporting and analytics. If I had to focus on one area first, I would probably choose troubleshooting and reporting. Deployment through Microsoft Intune is generally straightforward, but when something fails, identifying the exact root cause can still take more time than expected. Error messages are sometimes too generic, and admins often have to dig through logs, sync status, or multiple portals to understand what actually happened. I think user experience and policy management could also improve further. Microsoft Intune has become much better over the years, but sometimes the admin portal still feels fragmented because certain configurations open in different sections or redirect to older interfaces. For new admins, especially, it can take time to understand where everything is located. Another thing is policy conflict handling. In larger organizations, multiple device policies, compliance rules, and configuration profiles can overlap. When conflicts happen, the visibility is not always very clear, so admins spend time figuring out which policy actually won or caused the issue.

Infrastructure as code has standardized multi-environment provisioning and reduces manual work
The best features I found most useful in IBM HashiCorp Infrastructure Lifecycle Management are reusable Terraform modules, infrastructure as code with version control, and automated provisioning across environments. I also appreciate the plan and apply workflow because we can review infrastructure changes before deployment and maintain a clear history of what changed. I rely most on the infrastructure as code feature because it gives us a consistent way to manage infrastructure through version-controlled configuration. It also makes changes easier to preview, reproduce, and roll back compared with making changes manually in the cloud console. One thing I wish I had understood earlier regarding the features is the importance of designing Terraform modules and state management properly from the beginning. I also find the integration with CI/CD and policy controls valuable because it helps us enforce standards without adding too much manual work. IBM HashiCorp Infrastructure Lifecycle Management has mainly improved consistency and reduced the time needed to provision and update infrastructure. We have also seen fewer configuration issues because changes go through a standardized version control process instead of being handled manually.

Automation has transformed server patching and has reduced months of work to minutes
The best features that Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform offers is that it does not require any additional resources inside the servers. Python is the only requirement, and since Python is already present inside the servers, we can run it from our location and it automatically deploys things and does the work for us. The minimal requirements and easy deployment have definitely impacted my daily work and my team's efficiency. Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform is one of the best features that we depend on. We have evaluated other options, but Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform was the best choice because it has saved us a tremendous amount of time. We do not need to manually intervene in the servers or install third-party software to maintain these things. It is very easy to write playbooks for Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform. Ansible Galaxy contains many playbooks that are readily available and ready to be used. It is highly configurable with Jinja templating, making it easy to maintain. Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform has positively impacted my organization. Previously, we needed to go into the servers and maintain them manually, which used to take a lot of time. For 200 to 300 servers, the maintenance took about one to two months. New patches would arrive and we would have to repeat the process. Now, it is a one-night work or a 10 to 15 minutes task. We write a playbook, maintain an inventory, and roll out the updates and it starts working for us. Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform uses conditional clauses and has rollback options, functioning like a standard coding language that is simple to use. There is definitely a reduction in errors with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform because we have playbooks written with all the necessary clauses and rollback options. Manual work automatically creates more errors, whereas in automation, we have written sets that we do not forget every time we run it. We have protected written sets that we execute consistently.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"Without Microsoft Intune, it would be extremely challenging, if not impossible, for a large company to send out computers to users and have them set up and ready to use right out of the box in a remote location."
"It's normally able to meet 100% expectations of our customers."
"Cloud control made simple, device secured with ease, and workflow runs smoothly."
"Using this product has completely stopped DLP, so people cannot take material off of corporate machines or corporate imagines, and that's a huge benefit."
"Microsoft Intune is a good solution and it is purely based on Azure cloud, so I can use all the benefits of Azure cloud in Microsoft Intune and several good features in Microsoft Intune to manage devices."
"By using Microsoft Intune, I can control my Outlook on my phone, and whenever I try to open any file attachment, it will be more secure."
"Microsoft Intune has positively impacted our organization by improving our security posture and making device management much more efficient, especially for remote users and distributed teams."
"The initial setup is not complex."
"IBM HashiCorp Infrastructure Lifecycle Management has positively impacted my organization as it has been very beneficial for us for quick provisioning of infrastructure since I have been using it for the last two years."
"IBM HashiCorp Infrastructure Lifecycle Management has positively impacted my organization by significantly reducing manual infrastructure work."
"Overall, IBM HashiCorp Infrastructure Lifecycle Management has been a practical solution for standardizing infrastructure management and reducing manual provisioning work."
"Before using Terraform, our team used manual setup to create clusters in AWS using the AWS console, which would extend into two to three sprints for one person to set up all those components, and with Terraform and those reusable modules, we were able to minimize it to two to three days with all verifications included."
"It is one of the best products to use, easy to understand and easy to manage, and you can use it if you have a cloud, physical server, or VMware because it is very good and offers operational efficiency."
"It has an easy-to-use interface. It is REST API driven, and it integrates with Active Directory. It provides the ability to grant permissions to other users who would not necessarily have those permissions via the GUI so that they could run other people's jobs. For example, you could have the Oracle team grant permissions to the Linux team so that they can use each of those playbooks or each other's code. It is called shift-left."
"Some colleagues and other companies use it and comment that it is easy to use, easy to understand, and offers good features."
"Ansible has brought a platform which has allowed us to automate a lot of services, not just server services, but network services as well."
"Its checking and validating ensures our packages are properly patched."
"The playbooks and the code the solution uses are quite useful."
"I like Ansible's ease of use. If you have Linux skills, you can create a reusable template for the dependencies and other configurations. I can store the templates in a repository and share them with my customers or other developers. It's a popular solution, so there is a large user base that can share templates."
"From speed to deployment, it is much quicker."

Cons

"The biggest challenge is that the admin portal can feel complex, especially for administrators who are new to the platform."
"I rate Microsoft support between six to eight. The support often involves third parties hired by Microsoft who are knowledgeable, but sometimes the help I receive is not adequate."
"What frustrates me the most is just waiting and tapping my fingers, uncertain about whether my changes will take effect."
"Microsoft Intune could be improved in several areas."
"The technical support from Microsoft is not good, they take a long time to respond to a case and they do not update you on what is happening on a case."
"Intune should support platforms other than Windows. We have encountered several limitations, especially when handling iOS devices."
"I would like to see the ability to deploy custom packages as a Windows 64-bit package, as opposed to the Windows 32-bit, which is the only one available now."
"Intune could be improved by expanding its third-party patching capabilities for a more comprehensive solution."
"IBM HashiCorp Infrastructure Lifecycle Management can be improved with easier onboarding, as newcomers to Terraform and the HashiCorp ecosystem may find it challenging to understand and complete the workflow."
"One area for improvement in IBM HashiCorp Infrastructure Lifecycle Management would be making the initial setup and learning curve simpler, especially around Terraform state, modules, and workspace management."
"For platform teams, I would appreciate an easier way to manage changes across a large set of accounts and clusters."
"I feel it is not a perfect ten because, as of now, I am using only the open source version where I have encountered some tricky options, and I still require some AI contribution while creating infrastructures; as of now, it is very hard-coded and involves other manual tasks, which is why I am choosing eight, not ten."
"I have seen indications that the documentation needs improvement. They are providing a "How to Improve Your Documentation" presentation at this conference."
"The job workflow needs to be worked on. It's not really clear to how you actually link things together. What they probably could do is provide an example workflow on how to stitch things together. I think that would be very helpful."
"It could be easier to integrate Ansible with other solutions. No single tool can do everything. For example, we use Terraform for infrastructure and other solutions for configuration management and VMs."
"Some of the Cisco modules could be expanded, which would be great, along with not having to do so much coding in the background to make it work."
"Improvements should be made in terms of execution speed, which is, I believe, the most lacking feature. Aside from that, re-triggering a failed task is another useful feature."
"The solution should add a nice self-service portal."
"It needs better documentation."
"There could be more stuff in the workflows. I hope that if I have ten templates with different services on it, workflow could auto-populate all the template-based services."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Intune is linked with Microsoft. We can deploy the Microsoft E365 license to users by Intune. There are different types of licenses, such as device administrator licenses, E5 licenses for device enrollment manually, and P1 and p2 licenses for device enrollment automatically. These are the licenses required for the administration."
"Pricing depends on the features. Microsoft offers special packages if there are more than 10,000 users, and you may be able to get a reduced rate."
"It comes as a bundle, so you do not really know what the prices are. Microsoft does not break it down to the user cost for us. It is just bundled with our E5 license."
"Existing E5 license holders for M365, Intune, and Azure, receive a free license."
"The pricing is not cheap, especially with inflation. They've had to increase their prices. It's not excessive, but alright."
"Microsoft Intune has a user-based subscription model. You can go for a monthly or a yearly payment."
"I am satisfied with the pricing."
"Microsoft Intune is more expensive than other solutions, but it offers a wider range of features and control."
Information not available
"The cost is high, but it still works well."
"We went with product because we have a subscription for Red Hat."
"The pricing is okay."
"Like many Red Hat products, they have a no-cost version of the web application (AWX, formerly Ansible Tower), but you are on your own to install and it is a little more complicated than just installing Ansible."
"The pricing is pretty standard."
"Red Hat's open source approach was a factor when choosing Ansible, since the solution is free as of right now."
"It’s an open-source tool."
"I am using the community edition of the solution which is free."
