Easy to setup, good support and stable product
When we started, we used Acronis for both cloud and on-premises backups. Protege was a reliable solution, and the cloud-focused approach is well-suited for our current needs. If you require both cloud and on-premises backup capabilities, Acronis is a more comprehensive solution. For solely cloud-based backups, Protege is a solid option.

Leveraging AI in Veritas NetBackup Appliance is one of the road maps now that they have done a collaboration with Cohesity, which is a feature I'm looking forward to. Using AI is one improvement I recommend for the Veritas NetBackup Appliance. They have implemented some aspects of AI for features such as malware detection and anomaly detection. I believe they can do more to give customers more insight into their data, allowing them to see it and understand what they can do, such as archiving old data. They can do more by utilizing the data effectively to provide insights to customers about their space usage, future projections, and options for managing old data.

Pros

"I personally find Veritas NetBackup Appliance hassle-free."
"If you use the NetBackup Appliance you do not need to have separate media servers and hardware. You can configure the same storage as a media server and master server as well as a storage port. This helps to reduce the hardware costs of the media server."
"This solution is very useful and stable."
"The most significant benefit has been the time to restore."
"The most valuable feature involves VMware Instant Recovery, which allows one to do restoration within seconds."

Cons

"One area for improvement would be expanding its capabilities beyond Azure-specific backups."
"I contacted their support once, and the process was slow, which discouraged further contact."
"If you compare the solution to, for example, Dell Data Domain, it looks that the deduplication ratio is even higher than what we have on NetBackup."
"One area needing improvement is to facilitate Oracle database restores using the GUI on the NetBackup Appliance."
"Customers say that the price for Veritas NetBackup Appliance is high."
"The solution could improve by providing more integration and security."
"They need to make the licensing more clear. They should give all of the licensing details for the portals and be more clear. I have accidentally purchased the incorrect license because it's not clear."
"The price could be a bit better."
"The product should provide more AI and ML features."
