Sr. Systems Engineer at a media company with 5,001-10,000 employees
Efficient management and upgrades streamline complex setups
My main complaint is about the blades on the frames, which seem to have a lot of problems. We often have to call HPE for replacements, such as for memory. Constant issues arise, leading to frequent replacement of blade parts. Additionally, the upgrade process is lengthy, requiring careful planning as we cannot match ESXi versions without aligning OneView first, leading to delays.

Principal Engineer at a financial services firm with 1,001-5,000 employees
Struggled with complex licensing and limited support but have gained unified cloud monitoring
We face certain challenges with monitoring website uptime for our business operations because we don't have that 24/7 monitoring, so that's what we are working with ManageEngine on, regarding how effectively we can use that. I may not be able to give that information on how ManageEngine Site24x7 can be improved, but I felt that the monitoring or the licensing terms, such as the advanced monitors or monitors, are not very user-friendly. I feel that because I don't know how exactly we can check what devices use which license and how we can control those things; that's not user-friendly. For example, if I have to look at what all devices are utilizing my advanced monitor license or what all devices are using my basic monitor license, then if I want to pull a report or validate them, I don't have an easy option; it's too complicated.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The deployment was easy, it has many features, and it is a great solution that is easy to use while providing a good inventory of your hardware and firmware."
"In 3.0, HPE has done a better job with firmware updates, added more features, and also enabled the possibility to stage updates on the iLO card."
"It improves our productivity, because we can use OneView for more than just servers."
"OneView is a really good option and it makes our life easy."
"If you have HPE compute in place today, you should definitely look at using OneView."
"In terms of switch management, it is now easy to understand the current configuration, it provides centralized management, it provides a single pane, and you can easily do all updates in one shot."
"Easy to add servers and get them monitored and manageable."
"The improvement was basically to be more efficient and have a lot of productivity, as we are more developed to creation rather than just solving problems."
"Site24x7 stands out. It is truly amazing."
"One of the valuable features of this site is that it operates 24/7, monitoring my entire infrastructure, uptime, and related error issues."
"The deployment was not a challenge for us, because we are just trying to connect to the cloud instance; it's SaaS-based, so we just had to route all our traffic to that particular device."

Cons

"The main problem that we run into, as far as stability goes, is when something loses its profile. Sometimes it requires jumping through a number of "hoops" to really get it back."
"I have not given it a perfect rating because some features are missing like adding other storage systems and providing email notifications."
"There is a lot of automated stuff in there, but we'd like to step into the middle of that and bring in our own different tools as a part of that integration."
"I think HPE could make more user-friendly interfaces, exclude Java and move to an HTML5 platform, make more detailed documentation, and lower the price."
"The stability of the solution is unfavorable. We have had some struggles with OneView."
"The system currently has 75,000 alerts that are either being acknowledged or some are active, and there's not a simple way of selecting a whole filtered list and then closing them off and deleting them."
"The solution could add storage, integration services, and end-to-end support for Cisco switches or other competitor products."
"I would like to see a change in the GUI, so that you can navigate easier."
"It is technical. The engineer must be familiar with it."
"The product is not difficult to use. That said, it is technical. The engineer must be familiar with it."
"The only complaint I would state about the technical support by ManageEngine is we don't get them on call; it's only email support that we get."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I think that the price of OneView is $500 USD per server, which is a little high."
"I am happy with the price."
"This license cost for OneView was $3,000 USD."
"Use it. It is free."
"Synergy does not require iLO licenses but servers and enclosures must be purchased."
"The solution is free to use, but if you want the management aspect you require a virtual machine such as C7000 or Synergy which require licenses."
"When it comes to the government, money is never an issue, so it was excellent in terms of the HPE OneView licensing cost. Hitachi was cheaper, but I'd rate HPE OneView cost-wise as eight out of ten."
"I feel the product's price falls a bit on the higher side."
